FREV Chapter 06

I rolled out a map of Canada on a table and both girls got up and walked over curious about what I was doing. I put some weights onto the corners so the map wouldn’t unravel as I started to go over my plans. “To start out I’ll explain some of my future goals. The big one is that I want to become the de facto leader of what’s left of the planet. I know that’s a fairly lofty goal so I have it broken down into smaller bits.”

“I’ll start with conquering all of the land under my feet all the way from Alaska down to Argentina. To break it down even further I need to become the ruler of Canada, if not the ruler, at least the ruler of the biggest city which is not the city above our vault.” I circled the Rocky Mountains and drew a line from Montreal and Ottawa.

“I’m explaining for the sake of if you didn’t hack into the computer database connected to the cryo pod but before we went into the bunker, most countries had plans in place in case the worst happened but many were keeping it hush-hush from each other. From what I understand, Canada had two projects they were working on. Project Overcity and Undercity.”

I pointed to the Rocky Mountains before stating. “The first project was Project Overcity. Their original plan was to cut the top part of the mountain off and build a city in the mountains where no bombs would hit because it would be a massive waste to aim for mountains instead of already created cities. From what I understand they only had an occupancy of about twenty-five hundred but they were going to move all the truly important people there, so that should be one of our end goals.”

I pointed at the area I had drawn a line between. “In between Montreal and Ottawa, possibly connecting the two cities via tunnels is project Undercity. This was where the bulk of the people were going to be moved to if the worst did happen. Think of it like an oversized vault with far worse living conditions and less chance at survival. This would be the biggest city if it survived the nukes and I’d expect to see a city on the surface where the entrance down is if any bombs didn’t hit it.”

I dotted the map at other areas of interest before pointing back at the lake we just come from. “The three islands on that lake all have things of value for the vault that we have to help with if we want to take it later without much effort and only killing the few leaders left when we do come back for it. On one is a warehouse, another is an electrical plant already connected to the vault and the last is a water treatment facility that is already piped into Vault Zero in case it was needed in the future.”

I made a drumroll. “And before all that, we need information on what has happened in the last hundred-odd years since we lost our connection to the outside. Having more information now will guide our plans going forward. I can probably handle getting the power and water back on if you two want to head into the city. I think even then it might be best for all three of us to split up as the leader might see our height and assume we’re R.E.V. soldiers.”

I looked at both of them and waited for them to chime in with my plan before. I wait for about five seconds before Daisy finally speaks. “I agree with splitting up for now. Cindy can head inside and gather information while you go and look through the warehouse before sending the power and water to the vault and I’ll go scout around and see if there are any nearby raider groups we can crush before everyone comes back. Everyone should be back by tonight or we’ll assume you're dead or betrayed us.”

Cindy slurred the bowl of soup as she spoke up. “I’m guessing that was a dig at me? Nah, I’m good with sticking around ol' big dick here. I’ll go and gather information and come back for some lovin. What sort of information should I be gathering?” I thought about it more. “Look for current information and valuable information before you try to figure out what’s happened in the past. We can capture a few raiders and get the lay of the land from them. Hopefully one is knowledgeable on what happened in the past but first thing is first. Don’t get caught.”

I looked at her and was already feeling possessive. I knew it was in our team's best interest to split up but at the same time, she was my first lover. If she was captured, injured or god forbid killed I would rain death down on that city damn the consequences. I hid a few secret plans from them but the big plan was given away easily. I looked at my sister again.

“If you want to leave, now is your chance. I’ll underst-” She cut me off. “Shut the fuck up! I’m not leaving you dipshit. Did you already forget my goal? My goal is your goal dummy.” She walked around the table before grabbing me by my shirt and pulling me into a kiss. “Now shut up, go do your boring mission while I look for some fucking raiders to kill and your other girlfriend probably gets captured and we end up needing to save her.”

Most likely too embarrassed to stick around she jumped into her suit of power armor and went off. We needed somewhere to call a home base as well but that was something to worry about once we all returned from our original missions.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

Walking along the bottom of the sea just felt odd. I had to do so because none of us could leave the power armor lying around. The three sets were special and unlike anything else inside the wasteland. Leaving behind the power armor anywhere that wasn’t safe or owned by us would be akin to leaving a pile of caps on the ground for anyone to pick up.

Mine would be unusable but there’s could still be stolen. The good thing with this general armor was you needed a registered pip-boy to use it. It had that security detail meaning no one but myself and my sister could use the armor. I made my way to the first island and saw it was the warehouse. It was locked down enough that a few rocket launcher rounds wouldn’t budge the thick giant metal doors.

Pulling out my pip-boy cord I connect it to the access terminal because the password was lost to time. After a moment of bypassing the terminal and trying all the combinations it finally registered the right code and the doors started to open. I let out a whistle of surprise as I saw what was stored. Thousands upon thousands of suits of the winterized power armor we used defending Alaska. On top of that, there were enough guns and supplies to arm an army on top of it.

Which was exactly what I was going to use them for, just not right now, possibly not for the foreseeable future. Soon they’d serve a bigger purpose than rotting in a warehouse. I checked for anything else that could have been left behind and picked up a few dozen of the machine guns and submachine guns to supply other people we’d get to follow us. This would be a good spot to set up a base with impenetrable defenses, and the only people who could attack would need to do so by boat.

…Fuck it. I’ll decide later if there aren’t any other better options.
