Hello, this is Watanabe. Here’s my dormitory diary entry for November.

November has arrived, but it feels warmer than usual for this time of year. The temperature is just right, though, so I wouldn’t mind if it stayed this way for a while!

As for work, starting this month, my main focus will shift to animation practice. Up until now, we animators had four days a month dedicated to practice, with the rest spent on regular work. But it looks like that’s going to be reversed. Not everyone gets extra practice time, though; it seems they chose people based on their past work and exercise results, prioritizing those who would benefit most. I’m glad to have been chosen, but there’s a lot of pressure to “move up" to key animation, and honestly, it’s making my stomach hurt!

Our supervisor handles the review process, and every time I get a check-back, I need at least 15 minutes to mentally prepare myself before I can look at it—sometimes, I even let it sit for a week. Not the best habit, I know. It’s my lack of skill that’s the problem… I’m truly grateful for the detailed feedback, so I want to do my best to live up to it. In the past, my regular work often ate up too much time to really focus on practice, but now that I have more time, I hope I can tackle them more thoroughly.

My goal is to make it to key animation by March, so I’ll do my best.

Sometimes even when I'm asking for help with something from the internet I struggle to make myself read the replies, and that's from people that are trying to help me! Keep at it though. Anxiety like this is a mental defense mechanism but it's something you have to actively fight against if you want to overcome. Good luck!
