Weekly Update #143

That was a productive week if I may say so myself. Well, for writing, anyway. I was a bit less productive with videos and stuff than I'd like to be, but hey, my writing still comes first even if I'm trying to be a vtuber now. On that note, good news regarding The Queen's Hound reboot. I rebooted it, AGAIN, and am happier with it than I was with all previous attempts. I've also written more of this reboot than the others so far. I've got just shy of 10k words written for it and am actually excited to write more of it. However... this comes at a cost.

You see, even more has changed from the original now. What might end up being the most disappointing change to people is the near complete change of the main character. He's about half the age he was before and a lot kinder. Meaning, he's no longer an edgy middle-aged man. He still gets turned into a cute pupper, of course, and he's got some sass to him and gets annoyed easily, but he's significantly more... likable now, in my opinion. The story is also way more weak-to-strong now with him having next to zero fighting experience prior to being transformed. Also, it doesn't start with Zurie being waifu bait. In fact, to give a very tiny spoiler here, it's not even Zurie who transforms him anymore and there are a few chapters of him dungeon diving as a human (which are called Chosen in this universe) before getting transformed at all.

Of course, I expect RR readers to be the most disappointed with these changes. RR has always loved their anti-heroes and edge and guys who can easily kill with no problem. The MC was originally those things, but now he's not. At all.

But as disappointing as that might be to some people, I'm genuinely happy with it and keep going back to add more.

Oh, also, it's heavily inspired by roguelikes now.

Speaking of roguelikes, here's this week's stream schedule!

Tuesday at 7pm EST: Noita, again.

Thursday at 8pm EST: Skul, again.

Saturday at 12pm EST: Either Enter the Gungeon or Dead Cells. I'm not sure which because I really want to play both of them.

Apparently I'm a roguelike streamer now.

And now for memes 'nd things:

27 hours, 21,230 words for writing this week, and 14 hours for streaming/vtubing things! I'm happy with these numbers.

The True Endgame

There's not much I can say here that I didn't already talk about in the post-chapter note at the end of the latest $10 chapter, and to talk about any of that here where people not on the $10-ahead tier might see it would potentially risk some pretty big spoilers. What I can say, though, is that it's time to start a new volume!

Ero Dungeon Online

There's not really much to say for this, either. I do know that there are some people who aren't the absolute happiest over some reveals in the latest chapter, and I could definitely try to improve it to make it seem more natural and hinted at beforehand, but even then the reveal will probably seem a bit sudden due to it revolving around a character's actions off-screen.

Lazy Dragon Queen

And here we have LDQ. As for editing, I didn't get any done this week due to going on a TQH-rewriting binge. I also had an important decision to make! And that important decision is that I'm going to be splitting LDQ into more volumes. As it stands right now, I write what are basically light novels minus the illustrations. Light novels are typically only 200 - 300 pages in length per volume. The first two volumes of LDQ are both 500 - 600 pages. So, what I'm going to do is split these first two volumes up into four volumes instead. It's basically the same as what I want to do with TTE and what I should really do with all of my novels from here on out. Aiming to be between 200 - 300 pages per volume, that is. But yeah. I'm going to be working on editing that as soon as I'm done with this weekly update!

Reading Report

I was too busy rewriting TQH this week to go and read more. Well, too busy rewriting TQH and then also playing lots of video games. feelsbad

In Closing

Once again, thank you all for sticking with me and my stories! I hope that you're still enjoying them as much as I am and please look forward to this week's chapters! Also look forward to the rewrite of TQH which I'll most likely post this week... and maybe I'll post something else I've been working on, too.
