Weekly Update #122

Blagh. That should sum me up for this past week.

That aside, I ended up watching all the debut streams of the Hololive EN girls yesterday. They were pretty good.

In addition to that, I've recently become addicted to ARK and I want to write another VRMMORPG story like it. I'm playing around with some ideas in my head, but there obviously won't be anything like that soon since I've got enough on my plate already. Probably.

17 hours, 15,772 words. I guess that this is what happens now after I go on a massive editing binge, and I still haven't gotten more editing done despite really needing to finish that up. I'll try my best to work on editing the rest of TTE this week. 

The True Endgame

I might have to do something about this volume when it comes to actually putting it up onto Amazon and whatnot. Seeing as how there are basically 4 chapters straight of sex scenes, that's a lot of lewd. I wouldn't want the volume to get classified as erotica or anything while the others aren't. So, I might have to edit the sex stuff down a lot. Of course, for now, it's going to stay lewd for one more chapter.

Ero Dungeon Online

Writing this latest chapter was pretty fun in a way that I didn't expect. Or rather, I didn't expect to go as in-depth with some of the conversations in it and I had a ton of fun doing so. Next chapter should be fun to write as well!

The Queen's Hound

Well, that was a chapter that I struggled writing. Lately it feels like no matter what sort of chapter it's meant to be, I just... have a fuck ton of difficulty writing chapters for TQH. It's probably a bad idea from a business perspective to talk about how much I'm struggling with it when it's my most successful story and responsible for most of my income, but I'm just being honest. The whole point of this part of the weekly update is to talk about writing the individual stories, so here I am, talking about writing the story. I've just got lots of things to think about in regard to TQH. 

Lazy Dragon Queen

This volume has seriously ended up being way too long, but I can't think of anything that I'd change about it since I'm happy with all of it! Next chapter will finally bring an end to the fighting for this volume, then we'll have a bit of fun with a certain somebody, and then the volume should be all wrapped up. So, maybe 3-4 chapters left in this volume? It's already basically twice the size of the first volume, though, so I'm going to have to figure out what to do about that since I don't want future volumes being this long, either. Maybe I could add some of the second volume to the end of the first volume instead. Not sure. Anyways, I'm really looking forward to the next chapter!

CORE

Basically, I'm in the same situation with CORE as I am with TQH. I guess that I've realized I'm just not actually that happy with either of them anymore, but that doesn't mean I'm not trying my best with them still. Maybe it's because they've both pretty much turned into the kind of stories that I'm really not good with, sort of like what EDE did back in the day. EDE got pulled into a trap away from its original purpose and dug itself too deep of a hole to get itself out of. I've realized this week that I think both TQH and CORE might be in the process of digging their own holes, and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to get them to stop.

While I end up liking TTE, EDO, and LDQ more and more as I continue writing them, getting a seemingly infinite amount of ideas for them that I wish I could skip like years into the future for so that I could read how they all turn out, TQH and CORE have become my biggest sources of stress and anxiety now.

Then there's the fact that both of these stories have massively decreased readership now on RR and SH. There is a huge decline in views for pretty much the last two volumes that just shouldn't be there. So, I'm clearly not the only one who believes that quality is slipping. Between huge Patreon losses, decreased views, these stories rarely bringing in new patrons when their chapters release, and the general stress of writing them... yeah. It's not a fun time for me when I try to write them, and I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do about that.

I'll say it now that hiatuses and reboots aren't off the table as options. Though, I can at least confirm that I would not reboot either of them as a VRMMO story like I did with EDE -> EDO. It's not that I'm tired of VRMMOs, the exact opposite is true if anything. I just don't think either one would be good as a VRMMO.

Reading Report

I didn't read at all this week since I spent whatever free time I had playing ARK instead, but I am going to go read some to make up for that as soon as I hit submit on this post. I also plan on starting a Western novel this week so that I'm not only reading light novels, so I'll report on that in the next weekly update!

In Closing

Blegh. Part of me is tempted to delete everything that I typed up about TQH and CORE this week, but I want to be transparent and actually saying it to get it off my chest will probably be better for my mental health. So, there we have it.

Thank you once again for reading my stories. It honestly does mean a ton to me. I never really expected that anybody would ever want to read anything that I have to write before discovering web novels, yet here we are. Even if I'm going through a massive rough spot right now, I still wouldn't want to be doing anything else. This is still my dream and I love it no matter how stressful it might be right now.
