Weekly Update #40

Wow, it's already been a year. Hot damn. It'll only be another couple of weeks before I've officially been writing and posting web novels for a year.

Anyways, since this is the start of a year, I'll try to be more in-depth with this one!

I may have taken half of last week off, but I still ended up working for a total of about 26 hours. Also, I guess I'll have to come up with a new sheet now!

The True Endgame

Let's see. I want to review the story and say things I haven't already said about it before, but that might be difficult. Instead, I guess I'll try rating the different volumes! Just... keep in mind that I'm biased, you know?

First volume: 8/10

Second volume: 7/10

Third volume: 8/10

Fourth volume: 10/10

Fifth volume: let's hope for an 11/10!

This fifth volume, which has only just gotten its official start, is going to have more of a focused plot similar to the second volume. However, it's not going to be as serious and nowhere near as dramatic.

To review the fourth volume... this one is tough. I've had some people tell me that the fourth was boring and lost their interest, but I've also had people tell me it's one of their favorites. Personally, all of my favorite chapters are now within the fourth volume. I personally think I've found a good type of comedy to include, a good flow with characters and romance, and there was some actual game-y progress as well. I will admit that it had its weak points, but I think the strong points far outweigh those. Writing all of the characters is also extremely natural at this point. I don't even have to try to think about how a character would/should be reacting or talking. It just happens without thinking about it.

In general, I'm very comfortable with where the story is and where it's going. I think now is a great time to try and go into a more focused volume-length plot, so let's go for it!

Ero Dungeon Evolution

Now that the building up (which could use some fixing for the eventual self-publication) to the upcoming arc is done, we're actually going into the main story for the volume. I guess it's just like the first volume where the first half was generally SoL and lewd and now the second half is going to be more plot-focused again. The recent chapters building up to this have been a huge struggle for me to overcome since I just wasn't entirely sure how to go about it, but now I'm happy and on track! The ideas are flowing and the volume is ready to really kick off.

Though, I have recently realized something. The story would need a lot of changing if I ever want to publish it to Amazon. There are so many things in it that would get it blacklisted and get me potentially in trouble as it is. Like, as much as it hurts me to say, I would probably have to edit out any monsters even slightly resembling animals, and any actual animals. So... RIP Shadow if I ever post to Amazon. However, Shadow and all the others will be staying in the web novel version! Oh, or I could just turn Shadow into like a werewolf/beastman or something instead of just being a regular wolf. That would be enough to please Amazon. Anyways, this is a long way's off, so we'll worry about that when we get there.

Steel Glory

Wew, it actually got updated. Anyways, there isn't much for me to say about this one since not much has happened. I think a certain action scene could have gone better, but other than that, I'm 100% satisfied with the story so far and we'll be moving in to more character interactions and intensive training soon. The flames of romance have been sparked, hints have been dropped, Naomi is still best daughteru, etc etc.

The Queen's Hound

Hoh boy. The most controversial chapter (Saylee's and Peter's deaths) was posted to Royal Road today, and it went over... honestly, way better than I thought it would. Lots of interesting discussions going on, and it's always fun to read people's arguments when I have more information than they do. Though, it's really hard resisting posting to them and explaining some things. I don't want to spoil anything, but I also want to clear things up, but then if I give an inch they'll ask for a mile, and so on and so on. Anyways, anybody who survives that chapter should be fine for the rest of the story.

Speaking of the rest of the story, things are going to be picking up now. I don't have it in me to write multiple volumes of just grinding and living in a cave and nothing but. As much as I enjoyed those parts in Kumo Desu ga, I don't trust myself to make nothing but grinding that entertaining for that long of a time. It's time for some more characters and plot! And, yes, evolutions.

Lazy Dragon Queen

New story that got posted, woo! Like I said before, nothing but soft, fluffy, fun slice of life and romance and probably harem. I plan on doing less frequent but longer chapters with this, and while I do have plans for it, I honestly don't know where it's going to end up. All I can say is that it's going to have even less action and drama than TTE, and even more fluffy SoL moments. So, if you want pure injections of fluff into your eyes, then go and read this. If you want anything other than fluff, you're probably going to be disappointed.

Self-Fanservice

I have no idea what to call this, and I probably won't include this in weekly updates often just because it's purely written as fanservice to myself. That means I don't have to justify anything I write in it to any of you! Hah! But nah, seriously, I just can't imagine there being anything inside of it that would be appropriate for me to talk about here other than, "oh, yeah, I liked this thing so I wrote it into it."

A Slave's Voice

I technically put a bit of work into it, so I technically kept my promise of getting to it before the end of the year!

In Closing
