Dropping the backstory after the first personal we see for Luffy is still one of the greatest plays I've ever seen done for long running series. Imagine not getting Naruto's backstory until his first iykyk, or Gon, or Ichigo etc.

Forgot to say it earlier but I can actually follow the logic on why Akainu hard focusing Luffy over BB. If there is two rabbits you chase after, it's better to get the one hobbling on deathsdoor first. Especially if you know he has the potential to become a lion afterwards. I'm pretty sure he didn't expect the tenacity of the Whitebeards to go as hard as they did. Though I do think Kizaru and Aokiji was overkill. Those two should have fallen back and let Akainu succeed or fail. BB was still a problem.

Don't forget that BB was part of the Warlords. Even if the Gov knew he betrayed them with the impeldown shit. the civilians knew him has a Warlord. So in their head the Gov killed Whitebeard. BUt then they were shaky about the DF of whitebeard. So Marv is right in this sense

We slowed down the routing for post-MF to give them a little more time to come down from the peak of MF. Using that time to strategize and route plan further and production team wanted them to have a little break after it was so intense. It will pick back up soon. -Red

I meant from an authors standpoint. hiriluk gave a very vague description in Drum Island. There was a concept there, but we didnt see or know how he'd put those concepts into action until WB/Shanks clash then he refined it some more in Amazon Lily and Marineford. But i agree some fruits are too OP to worry about having super strong haki. Thats what Blackbeard said about Ace

I don't think Shanks is on such a crazy level of Emperor status. You have to remember what Garp said back in Sabaody when they heard about Rayleigh. He said. "We can't fight two legends today." Clearly he was talking about Rayleigh and Whitebeard at the time. If the roles had been reversed and Shanks fights the government while Whitebeard shows up afterwards, The war still ends. The point was that fighting One Emperor could go either way, Fighting one right after fighting another before recouping and regrouping is suicide for the Navy.

Remember that Ace was merely on 3 years of his career so he's still learning about things. Plus Ace was really strong in physical strength and asuming he relied more on his op devil fruit powers since he got one. The possibilities are, either Ace didn't really realize that he have it because as mav said, you kinda discover it only when you're in a critical scenario but since he is strong plus his devil fruit, it is very rare occurrence. But it was very unlikely that he didn't knew he has haki because he's in an emperor's crew so he is surrounded with haki users. It may be a factor that he never really pursue using haki because he despised his dad.

You have to have a certain type of strength to survive in the new world so it’s inferred that Ace knew how to use haki, at least learned later in life after leaving home. Ace could use supreme king/conqueror haki but I think, imo, ace couldn’t use haki during marineford because 1. He was ready to give up, and 2. He had sea prism cuffs on making him really weak
