Game Difficulty Settings

Hey, gang

I'm currently working on the combat system for the DarkRPG project, and in particular, how game difficulty settings will affect that. So, I could use your opinions.

When it comes to game difficulty, do you prefer having a single game difficulty adjuster which governs the overall challenge of the game (e.g. the classic 'easy', 'normal', or 'hard' difficulties), or do you prefer a more nuanced approach with multiple difficulty adjusters at your disposal that each govern individual aspects of the game's challenge level (e.g. being able to adjust enemy damage level & enemy damage resistance separately).

Starfield is a recent example of a game that allows you to customize the difficulty of your experience using multiple difficulty adjusters, and this seems like an approach with great promise. So, what do you all prefer?
