Developer's Journal 3:9

Hey everybody.  This week I worked on an office scene, with some previews attached.

You may have noticed that Leaving DNA incorporates a relatively racially diverse cast of characters.  This is actually a bit harder than it looks because Daz3D appears to be marketed to a largely white user base, so most Daz assets are for white models.

But I was raised in and live in Los Angeles, so my social experience has always been very racially diverse.  And while the city of El Valiente and Santa Valeria County are fictional, they are based in California, and so my casting choices are influenced by my own social experience.  That includes, of course, two of the four LI's, one of whom is the first ever Armenian LI in an AVN, and another of whom is Latina.

The novel I was working on before I switched over to LDNA starred a female, Latina homicide detective who worked for LAPD.  Originally, I was trying to adapt that story for Leaving DNA, until I realized I was really working on a completely new idea.  I'd still like to tell that story, and I'd like to do it in a visual format, but if I ever did it would probably be under a different developer name, since that particular story is not adult/sex-themed, and I don't think it would be a choice-driven story, either.

I actually have four ideas for 3D render-based projects I want to do after Leaving DNA, only two of which are adult games.  I'm 41 now, so let's see if I live long enough to make all (any) of them.

That's all for this week.  Heads up, next weekend I am taking my first out-of-town trip since before the pandemic, and I will not be working on the game from Friday through Sunday.  This will be my first break from the game and from my brutal schedule since I started working on Leaving DNA 21 months ago, so I'm really going to try hard to let myself mentally take that time off.  I will post a Developer's Journal next week because there is something sort of cool I want to show you, but it will come Sunday night instead of Saturday.

Thank you for your support!

I'm also a big fan of more diverse casts, it seems very natural to me too and, well, less boring. Thanks for going the extra mile to make it happen. Although the lewd aspect was the reason I started with AVNs, it is no longer the reason I play them now and keep playing them. It's all about the emotional experience now. And from what I've seen of your storytelling so far, I'm sure your next project will be just as intriguing, whether it's an adult one or not. But yes, finishing four additional projects before retirement will be a difficult task, good luck with that, and fingers crossed. ;-) Have a good time and enjoy your trip.

I love the fact that you have such a diverse cast, not only racially but also when it comes to body size. It definitely helps make things look more realistic. And I hope you enjoy your little break. You should probably take more of those.
