Changes to Patreon's fee structure

Many of you have probably heard by now that Patreon intends to change how they profit from your donations. Previously, Patreon would deduct processing fees from a creator's monthly fund. Beginning on December 18th, Patreon will instead charge the majority of those fees to you, our patrons, to the tune of 2.9 percent and 35 cents per pledge. Strange Horizons is strongly opposed to this change.
This will hit donors who support many creators with $1 to $2 donations they hardest, as they will pay a higher proportion of fees than the donors who tend to make just a few large pledges per month. Natalie Luhrs has a detailed breakdown over at Pretty Terrible, should you want additional details.
In light of this, some of Strange Horizons patrons have asked if there are other ways you can support the magazine. We're currently looking into supplementary donation platforms. In the meantime, we always accept donations via Network For Good and PayPal. If you set up a recurring payment via PayPal and would still like to receive the monthly ebook, let us know, and we'll continue sending it to you.
