June 2022 Third Preview: Spectral Cavalry Unit!

This is the last post of the month and today we are showcasing the Spectral Cavalry Unit for this upcoming June 2022 Release in Highlands Miniatures: the Spectres of Transilvanya!  👻

Having the chance to create this Spectral Cavalry Unit has been an amazing experience. We have follow many amazing references to create the miniatures, like this amazing engraving by Gustave Doré (1865) called "Death on the Pale Horse". The biblical influence -the Book of Revelations- has been very present along the design process of these miniatures. 

"When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, "Come." I looked, and behold, a pale horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.

We wanted to create them as much phantasmagoric as possible, that is why the horses don't have the classic stapes or reins. As you can see in the preview images, the poses of the spectral horses and the riders, the Grim Reapers with scythes, are designed to represent the coming of the spectral cavalry from the open heaven, inspired by this incredible paint by Peter Nicolai Arvo (1872) called "The Wild Hunt of Odin". 

The Spectral Cavalry Unit is composed of six (6) Spectral Riders with scythes, one of them can be used as a captain, and four (4) Spectral Horses. These miniatures aren't modular. The riders come separated from the horses. ☠️

Remember, the June 2022 Release, the Spectres of Transilvanya, will be composed of:

• 6x Crypt Ghosts Unit: low level spectres with rusty one handed weapons
• 6x Wraith Unit: armoured spectres with two handed weapons
• 6x Spectral Cavalry Unit: undead spectres on horses with two handed weapons
• 9x Second Anniversary Skeleton Warriors Unit: basic skeletons warriors without armour, with spears and shields.
• 1x Ezekiel, the Lord Necromancer in Flying Monster
