The Future of Highlands Miniatures: Please read and comment!

(UPDATE 10/02/21)

Firstly, we want to thank you all very much all your ideas, proposals, suggestions and advices that you have given us in this post and by message! We did not expect so many at all! It has been amazing to see such great ideas, think about how we could fit them together, your wishes and your opinions.

We still don't understand how this community supports us that much and sincerely wishes us the best. Seriously guys, thank you, we really feel so grateful ❤️

There are still a few months left until the second season of Highlands Miniatures but the only thing we can tell you about it is that…is going to be amazing! Now we have a clear path to follow during the next years (hopefully!) thanks to you.

By the way, we have updated the Patreon Goal, there you can see a sneak peek of what’s coming on…

Stay safe!

______________________________

Hi guys! ⚔️

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you’re having a great weekend with yours and your miniatures! Any good fantasy battle planned for today?

It's been a few months since we launched the Patreon, the adventure that we started without having a clue of what was going to happen and if we were going to be up to the task. We are very happy to see the path that patreon is taking. We like the direction in which the two armies created so far have developed: the Medieval and Undead armies.

However, we believe that the time has come to start a new path, with new factions. We still have some months to continue developing the Medieval and the Undead armies, and we will continue working on them in the future, because... we love them!!

But let's be honest, we are scared. We know that many of you are here because you are players of these two armies and therefore, we are afraid to start with new factions and lose many of you, so we want this to be a common decision among all. 🥳

As we've said, we will continue developing the two armies until June (our Patreon 1st year birthday!), but we would like to know who will be the protagonists of the next stories. As we have done so far, we would like to maintain the dynamic of two armies per season, what do you think?

We know that there are a lot of possibilities to choose from: chaos, orks and goblins, dwarves, barbarians, elves, etc. We have always liked the idea of creating an army similar to the European imperial armies of the 15th and 16th centuries with a certain conquering style (like you know who) and we have many ideas for that army. They don't necessary have to be an army, it could be also a faction from an army.

So, guys, let us know what you think, what do you want to see, or what do you expect from Highlands Miniatures Patreon in the future!

Let the brainstorming begin! ❤️

Orcs have been done to death...unless you can do a good Angus Mcbride LOTR style or army where they are lanky and chimp-like...definitely not 40k/sigmar ork. Something along this line: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b9/bb/7d/b9bb7d0b6d5939a5f498305b37195f34.jpg Wargames Factory did something like these, which I have...they are nice, but I believe you folks have the talent to blow that out of the water. I'd rather see a good Spartacus/gladiator or Spartan/hoplite army.

Jeff Wrbelis

I haven't seen a lot of Ancient Chinese themed armies. I have been looking to make a terracotta army, so that would be cool.

would be keen to see some giants..

++ for norse barbarians.

I'd like if next army will be chaos or norse barbarians.

Demons

You know whats the least fleshed out fantasy army?

Tomb Kings and Dwarves. Doesn’t matter crap to me what’s already out there. Nothing is as good as what you are producing so might as well ask for my two favourite factions.

Karsten Krahe

In short, Elves. High vs Dark for example. There's a metric tonne of lizardmen style stuff already out there, same goes for bretonnia proxies, undead, etc. Orcs and Skaven are also fairly easy to come by, but there are very few good quality, consistent printable elf mini sets out there. Food for thought;)

Maciej Podkomorzy

a certain familiar empire and also orcs would be a fitting choice given the common lore. If not a empire and chaos would be amazing.

Kislev vs Norsca

Henry McCartan

Kingdoms of Ind, Cathay, Amazons, Araby etc...I would love it.

Glitterwolf

Chaos dwarves would be amazing

SamuraiJordan

I think you should go with your muse and do a 15th/16th century empire army. I would prefer Landsknecht over conquistadors but why not do both. I like the one good one evil army ideal. My preference would be some kind of chaos army. Otherwise human barbarians or just an "evil style" human army would be cool.

I gotta say, I would bend over backwards to get Fimir. Fimir Warriors with great weapons and an option with two hand weapons. Fimir Noble (leader) and a Fimir Wizard

SamuraiJordan

Roman Undead Legion. Fishmen Army. Amazones from the Jungle riding Lizards/Dinos. Snakemen.

Glitterwolf

Another Idea. Desert Raiders, Arab inspired Army, Medieval/maybe early muskets, Elephants, Lions, Flying Carpets, Monkeys, Djinn, Sand Golems, Maybe mummies and scarabs.

Glitterwolf

I'm with you!

Glitterwolf

I love your Undead. How about some Undead Samurai? Do look at the competition, there are many orcs and dwarves and elves out there, if you choose these you do need to stand out with something unique. I would like to see more female barbarians and not just the cheesecake but true warriors in armor/fur and riding sabretooth tigers, in fact barbarians can be cool if you mix them with prehistoric megafauna you will have something original. More bears, wolves, mammoths, wooly rhinos, glyptodon, smilodon etc.

Glitterwolf

Nothing more iconic than orcs and dwarves! I'd like to see a less cartoony orc than what's out there, more of a Lord of the Rings style. Everyone just seems to be copying GW's orcs.

I feel like orcs and gobbos/and ratment are decently covered by free files... even if they aren't quite as good of quality as your stuff... Personally I would love to see Kislev or Empire style miniatures, but absolutely some winged hussars, Cossacks on Foot, and Mounted cossacks too. Decent Chaos warriors would be awesome as well.

Eli Williams

OK. Sorry, I fired up Total War: Warhammer II, and now I want Ratmen vs. Lizardmen

Michael Martin

Ratmen would be great too!

Michael Martin

Chaos & beastmen Vs heavily armored angelic knights.

Christian Borggard

Chaos would be rad!

No you're not!!!! Just go to the Main Page, look down the About section, it says GOAL and a few numbers 🥰

Highlands_Miniatures

Ahhhh!!!! We were waiting for you!!!!!! 😂 Phil you're the light of every dark time, you really motivate us to continue since the 1st minute of this madness... you know that we couldnt do anything without you. Thank you for everything, let's see If they continue loving us when the 2nd season comes!! Thank you ❤️

Highlands_Miniatures

Can't see the goal. Or am I just stupid?

I thought I’d commented on this post! Whoops! Sorry both! I think I should just quote Freddie Mercury “I want it all!! I want it all!!, and I want it now!”🤣🤣. Let’s face it. You produce some of the most beautiful miniatures around. I’m not going anywhere. I don’t think anyone else is going to either! We love you guys!

Phil Walling

Where is the hint? Can't find it!

fox pals

I really want to see some quality orcs and gobbos and dwarfs. I feel these have not been well fleshed out for mass fantasy battle games and I'm dying for some good dwarfs.

Denis Sater

I would like to see some modularity in a unit. So if you have a unit of spearmen, I can sub swords, ax's, polearms. I get that we can't do that with all units..but it would be nice for some.

Esteban

just seen the "hint" now I just want to see which race you'll give them to fight!

Furio

Dang... sounds like you need a poll.

Esteban

You do realise that the outfits in braveheart were entirely incorrect? ;) Kilts and claymores were used far later than William Wallace's time.

Furio

Love the work you all have done. I love fantasy figures and games. I am very open to where you all will take the line. I think there are some fantasy areas that maybe have not been touched. I think there are some games that are no longer around but had a great background. So one of the games with a great background was Chronopia. Very, very cool fantasy setting and factions. I am not suggesting you copy but I am suggesting that it was a very interesting twist. Or what about some fantasy settings that we have not seen fleshed out. Black Company comes to mind, again as a source of inspiration. Elves or a faerie race is always a great fantasy faction. And dwarves always bring folks around. Good or evil. Or maybe the two forces facing off...Or the elves vs the dwarves. Might be two fun factions.

Patrick Cunningham

I would like to see some Conquistadors just because I like the look of it. Also verry interesting could be Ogre Kingdoms. Or you go all out crazy and create with Nippon something new and let your imagination do the rest.

Im here for fantawsy stuff :) I love your undead, but would also love some dark elves of your making, or saurians

Hi guys, I would love to see any fantasy army but if I could chose, I'll give a go to dwarves, goblins or lizardmen. Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see more of your wonderfull creations, Cheers, Pierre

Babou1n

I'd enjoy seeing some Conquistador style forces going against Jungle Lizards, if you catch my drift ;)

Hi guys, this is only my second month as a Patreon but I would love for some proxies for other Game systems. Necromunda, 40K, Warmachine et al. Regardless I will continue to support as long as you keep making quaity minis that are fun to paint, keep up the great work!

Hello First of all, I apologize for my English. Personally, if I support this patreon, it is to have fantasy miniatures (to play Warhammer or the 9th Age). If you're doing anything other than fantasy, I might not be interested (although I have no doubt your miniatures will look great!) For the armies that you could make ... the ones you are making at the moment don't seem to be finished: I would like some additional figurines (ghouls, mounted sergeants ...). But if you had to move on to other armies, why not Elves? The three elven armies: dark elves, high elves and wood elves? I would like that very much. Thanks again for your work. Stephane

Stephane T

On another point I would love to see how your artistic talent would work with winged polish hussars and Eastern European themes

A historical army and a fantasy army, perhaps Greeks? Amazons? Samurai? and on the Fantasy side? Orcs and or Goblins, (there are lots of these by different people, but few are fully developed with just a couple random poses with their individual style of sculpting, so many dont match together). I am not a Warhammer player, but that doesnt mean I am against a warhammer style army ( as long as it Fantasy). There are a lot of individual stls made as Dwarfs, elves, and what ever the powergamers thing the best race is, but as always, most of these sculpts are just one or twos, and don't work for wargaming. Elves or dwarfs are desired by lots of people, and Goblins and orcs make good enemies for Dwarfs or elves to fight. What ever you choose, as someone above said, choose something you will enjoy sculpting, and if you can make it useable by more than one game system is good also. The thing with Orc and Goblins, is you can add many other races such as ogres, hobgoblins, Giants and such as additional groups that fit in the same army, so you can throw a few and its not out of place.

David Croft

Hey, Raven, Blood Highlanders with big two handed swords is a good idea for the next army! What do you think?

Great warriors!!! wouldn't this be the right time to make an army of HIGHLANDERS (scots)? I can't find any STL army to buy, they fit in with the world they're currently doing in and it would be something innovative! They could play the characters of William Wallace and Connor McCloud, Ramirez in this same pocket. From the heart, I think it would be a perfect request to do. Orcs, goblins, it's full, there are no highlanders. They use those huge swords and kilts, and I could put on credible medieval helmets and armor, for sure there's a lot of different things to use. If you want I can help with some concepts (ideas) arts. VOTE FOR HIGHLANDERS!!

William Wallace: [Deliberately] I am William Wallace, and I see a whole army of my countrymen, here, in defiance of Tyranny. You've come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What will you do without freedom?

FREEEEEEEEDOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!

There are a hundred different suggestions already but before I give you my suggestions I would like to reiterate some wisdom that you have perhaps already considered: whatever two armies/factions you do next, you should choose to do at least one that you're passionate to do. Nothing stifles the creative flow more than doing something that is a chore. If you don't dig Chaos Demons and you have to do two Demon armies for the following year at the behest of your Patreons... well, it's going to be a rough time. So please, at least do one army that you're passionate to do and I think that would help keep the creative juices flowing! There are a few Patreons subscriptions that I flit back and forth between depending on the monthly offer but yours is the one out of them all that I want to support for you as creators as opposed to what I'll be getting each month. I am sure it is just the nature of it that folks will come and go but I'm sure you have a dedicated following already and I'm sure that if some do leave when you do new factions, that you'll get new Patreons who are interested in those factions to replace the leavers. And now for my suggestions. I'm definitely all aboard with the Vamp train and would love to see a few more of those units in your Undead army as I don't really think there would be enough ways to do Vampires to have them as a separate faction altogether; but hey, if you could figure out a way to do so, I wouldn't say no! Hehe I agree that maybe doing some that are rarely represented would be good but I think a bit of digging would be required to actually know which ones are rare. Ironically I seem to be a fan of the rarest ones. Vampire Counts has actually very few Vampire options out there. And certainly those of a certain more realistic or grimdark style. If you're not into the anime/cartoon/world of warcraft style then Artisan Guild is not going to cut it. Vikings too; someone above said there was alot of Vikings out there? Really? Show me the links. I've seen two kickstarters of Vikings and the quality of them are like 1990 GW. Bretonnia is getting quite full now. Orcs/Goblins are a dime a dozen, and can actually get away with the cartoon style, same with Dwarves. Chaos demons are pretty full and so too are Elves. There's a couple of Lizardmen options out there that I've seen. From what I can tell the rarest ones are:- Barbarians, Beastmen, Empire (Also Kislev), Ogre Kingdoms and Tomb Kings (Though there is a pretty good tomb kings one out there already). But my actual suggestions are the furthest afield factions that Warhammer never did. Cathay, Nippon, Albion, Estalia, Araby, Amazons and the Kingdoms of Ind. Hardly anyone is doing these factions. Though I would caution that if you did consider doing one of them to do the other army as something a bit more popular. There's a reason GW didn't do those armies, and there's a reason you don't see many stl options for them also. Whatever you guys decide to do, I'm sure it'll be awesome, and I'll be there to print them off! ;)

Ewan Walker

For the second army you can mix the same an opposite but similar culture, one that is rarely touched in my opinion is the Russian steppe culture and the plains of tibet and mongolian culture, where it would be more towards mounted warfare do not forget Gengis Khan and his great horde. There is much in the History of Mongolian culture that would suit something like the orcs, with their Horde nature. Mongolian Death Worms Mounted Camels and Steppe Ponies Great Eagles Flying over the steps (mounted or otherwise) Infantry that glides through the grasses (scouts and assassins) Mongolian Dragons

Raven

What would be a good idea is to take a culture, say like the ancient Indian culture to mix with one of the races, such as goblenoids, or elves or the like. To get a mixture of Mounted Elephants, Cavalry (not necessarily on horses) pet tigers, panthers and other similar cultural creatures. Vanara (Monkey like warriors from the Ramayana) Rakshasa (Demon like creatures, often mistaken in DnD as only tiger men) Nagas (Half man half serpent) With such a large list of Hindu mythology and creatures, this is an easy historical area to mix into a fantasy type army, obviously for popularity you would have to pick one of the more mainstay races to base it on.

Raven

I would love to see Dark Elves.

choas warriors, and I would love to see a some what more historically grounded samurai army

Ogres and globlin, next...

Andrea

Renaissance style Empire and Kislev, for sure.

Andrea

Chaos deamons would be great! Seen to be many lots of warriors. But demons are abit lacking in choices. And would be fun to see what you could create with them since they are so different in styles.

Niclas Munkenberg

I would love to have a dark gods chaos warriors and beastman an maybe wood elf. Your models are amazing and i am able to find all the other army online (skaven, lizard orcs etc. etc.) You were the first to gave us Vampire army, if you could be the first to model an alternative beastman/ warrior of the dark gods army you are gonna be the best.

Enrico Buongermino

Either Empire vs orcs, Dwarves vs gobbos or Beastmen vs Wood Elves, lizzies vs skaven, light elf vs dark elf..... Keep that good guy / bad guy thing going.

Adrian Wain

there are so many lizardmen ranges on patreon already though!

David Taggart-Atkinson

I would personally reccomend looking for those armies that have less options arround, the medieval army has a big pull for many of us, because there are few options to build an army for arturic/bretonian/100yearwar french with the touch of fantasy... There are like a hundred orcs and goblins, vikings or elves to choose from, so probably something a little more scarce like beastmen, tercios/roman empire (the german one, not the old one, you know why, the one with CANNONS) maybe with a touch of musquetiers... or maybe something like an army inspired in the Medici era, with condotieros, pikemen and mercenary sharpshooters gives you a wide variety to experiment. This sayd, whay I personaly love about your sculpts is how grounded they look, like almost historical, even the undead. Like you can "believe" how they look, like "yeah, that would exist and looke like that" please dont loose that feeling it's what makes your stile so appealing (for me at least)

Berni Mjölnyr

more models based on monty python's the holy grail! As for armies, Empire vs Beastmen would be great. However whatever you decide to do, the key is to keep your customer care as it is at the moment, I think you take the time to answer almost everyones questions. And that sets you apart from a lot of other patreons.

Furio

Elves/Other human infantry styles beyond the brettonian style, same deal with undead - zombies etc. Also Orcs/Trolls/Ogres are always fun :D Edit; oh yeah, treemen/ents etc would also be awesome Edit x2: more comments I read the more I want everything - Beastmen hype!

Mini Manatee

For my part, I don't have a preference, but I must admit that I tend to look closely at what is not often found on the market by not going beyond the 16th century. Afterwards I confess that everything related to ancient Greece is still something I like because most of the fantastic creatures come from their mythology. So, if I found more centaurs, satyrs, cyclops, giants, treemen, ... I would be happy. NB. If you choose the 15-16th century, what is often missing are the common people or parts of the scenery (tents, siege weapons, ladders, ropes, hay, working tools, ...).

LudovicG

I'm personally a huge dwarf fan, but I would also love to see a wood elf/treemen army and a Kislev proxy.

I would love to see an Empire army with both lower technology and some blackpowder equipment facing a beastmen of chaos army. Somewhat a chaotic versus order army theme.

Silvio Martins

Wood elves get my vote and beastmen

Stuart Larmer

Beastmen and other chaos units please. I could live with orcs and gobbos. or another human faction. I only joined a couple months ago so i've missed a lot of the releases

Dave Binny

Another vote for Dwarves - especially steampunk flavored, with clockwork mecha and servitors.

Michael Martin

Pirates would be good as there could be normal pirates from Sartosa and undead pirates. Beastmen do seem to be under served too

Paul Smith

High elves and Dwarves :)

Lot of good suggestion here! Please keep human models part of your releases. What I would like to see in the upcoming month is more models suitable for Song of Ice & Fire (game of thrones theme). Questing knights are my favorite release along with skeletons (but hell they are fragile :) ).

Jonatan Lumberjack

I will stay whatever you'll make!

Orc its a good choice.....for me , i love orcs

Celtic barbarians like Slaine, Kislev, Wood Elves, mongols or cathay, araby, evil humans that aren't chaos or barbarians, mercenaries, vikings

brody states

I would recommend a faction not well covered in the stl world. A bit self serving on my part but chaos would be my top recommendation. Orks are over saturated largely from other Patreon especially due to DandD

First know that you are growing a rapidly interested group of customers amongst the kings of war community. Literally any faction you make, that is of the same quality as your work so far, will find a home amongst its players. To that end, Id love to see an army that is representative of the wilds. While I can get plenty of good characters, there are not a ton of modular unit kits for things like sylvan/wood elves, or anthropromorphic woodland creatures. It may be a long shot, but id love a unit of modular woodland creatures as soldiers, a la Redwall. Good Ratkin/skaven proxies would be cool too.

Paul Goodwin

please dont do chaos, chaos dwarves or lizardmen. Theres an abundance of all these. Ive seen people complaining about "too many elves" but the only other companies doing warhammer style high elves are IIhadiel and lost sword (and their units are only available casted from their webshop, not as files apart from a few characters on their patreon). Also there is very few decent warhammer style wood elves (raven twin do a nice unit). I would love to see you do beastmen or celtic flavored wood elves. Maybe dark elves? if you must do orcs (boooo!) please dont do them in that stupid warhammer ape style. Do them more like Angus mcBride style LOTR orcs.

fox pals

Dear lord, High Elves please!!!

Inglese High Elves, with no one ever made miniature Aenarion on His great Dragon with the cursed sword of Khaine

Davide Bonny

Hey guys, relatively new to your Patreon though I’ve busy printing and painting the stunning knights and so forth. I’ve also been very impressed at how quick and helpful to the couple of queries I’ve had. In terms of continuing to expand the knights I’d love to see a few more of the staples (mounted yeoman, grail reliquary) and maybe a character or two from the depths of time (a certain french themed revolutionary springs to mind). In terms of the future as has been said there’s a lot of tomb king and others but one thing I’ve not really seen is Kislev - I reckon you guys could do some amazing things with a force of Russian inspired medieval troops (heavy winged cav, cav archers, foot troops) all of which could be mixed gender too. What I’d really love to see for this theme would be the various Tzar and Tzarina models you guys could do. whatever you decide I’m confident it will be awesome - keep up the good work.

I think you can really see that you enjoy your work which in return creates awesome miniatures. Keep that in mind create miniatures that make you happy (if you build it they will come 'print')

Can a goblin paint

I think a really cool thing to do would be Inquisition themed Ogres, maybe with an overlap into Empire. There are some other companies out there that do Ogres, but they're all in a pirate theme. There are plenty of elves and tomb kings out there. I would suggest going for something unique

Rick Porsius

Hey guys! I've been a patron of yours since the start of this Patreon, and I've loved everything that has been released ever since, because of your beautiful sculpting style, eye for detail, and the overarching 'aesthetic', but also the general 'wholesomeness' around you guys (on FB and IG stories for example). Because of those things you'll probably never lose me as a patron anyways, whatever you make ;) Nevertheless I want to give my opinion on what 1) I think sets you apart from all other Patreons (and why it often happens I cancel all other subscriptions except this one at the end of the month) and 2) would be a cool new direction in my view! 1) If you'd ask me, there are a few aspects that really distinguish this Patreon from others. Overarching: you don't do a monthly release for a single theme, but stick to an army/theme for a little longer, so you have the time to make all sorts of models within this general style. The fact that we have a huge collection of archers, cavalry, infantry etc. in the same style is a good thing. I always am a bit saddened to see another Patreon visit an interesting theme for a month and immediately continue to another, completely unrelated theme the next month. Another point that sets you apart is your 'aesthetic'. I think you guys flourish when making models inspired by history, but with a small fantasy accent on them. I feel like you really own this style and I think it looks great. Correct me if I'm wrong, but where other Patreons are a bit too edgy for my liking, you guys seem to find the right balance between historically authentic and fantasy ('authenticool'). Because of this I think heavily influenced fantasy themes would be better off with those other Patreons, but this might be a personal taste. Hyperbolically speaking, everyone and their dog has made some chaos-dwarves, lizardmen, and all sorts of elven-models, I really think this market is already saturated and the market where you are currently operating in, 'authenticool' minis, is often overlooked! 2) Personally I would really like to see a continuation of the work you are doing, but possibly with another historical inspiration? The Spanish (?) style you propose really is music to my ears, I'd LOVE it! But I think there also are some other styles that would go great with your artistic talents, some suggestions: - 'Witcher' inspired (Temeria, Redania, Nilfgaard, Skellige); - Dutch Golden Age (ruff-collars, 'schutterij', 16th-17th century, aesthetic kind of overlaps with your Spanish suggestion, those armies could even be pitted against each others, 80-years war); - Landsknecht inspired; - Viking (authenticool, 'Skjoldehamm hood, not sexualized shield maidens and warriors etc.) - 'Outlander' inspired (17th-18th ct. Scots vs. Redcoats); - Late 18th century (Court dress?, French Revolution, I don't mean Napoleontic per se, a bit earlier); - More women in actual functioning not oversexualized armor). Those are the two cents of my fiancé and me. We really understand we might be a minority with these ideas. If you chose another direction we can really understand, and we'll probably stick around anyway! Thanks for asking for our opinions nevertheless! Kind regards from the Netherlands, Lisanne and Siebe <3

🧙 is never late. I feel like both undead and medieval armies can be still expanded, halbediers, ghosts etc. Therefore I propose doing new factions and between two months of one and another new faction post one month of old faction. As for what I would like to see, I cannot deny my greed for dwarfs and reneissance dwarfs sound so cool, maybe mixed with other "civilised rases". As for the opposite team I would like to see fussion of races and styles like arabic elves, aztec ratmen etc., or maybe some grand allience like destruction army, you know, goblins and orcs with smidge of trolls and so on. As always do what you think is fun, thank you for wonderfull minis :)

Leonard Turčan

After careful consideration, my order of preference would be: Amazons High Elves (these top two could even be mixed somewhat) Beastmen Lizardmen Orcs (no goblins) Ogres (Savage!) Dogs of War/Regiments of Renown (something like SotHR or DO) Norse (Demonic/chaotic or not - and yes, this includes Nordic/Viking/Barbarians, berserkers, raiders etc.) Daemons Dark Elves Middle Ages Chinese or Japanese Dwarves Evil men/warriors (including Mongol/Hun types, Marauders, or heavily armoured) Celtics I could see the Lizardmen and Amazons with an Aztec/Inca/Mayan vibe, but I could also see primal, savage, beastial, animalistic Lizardmen, and Amazons in a jungle/tropical, roman, Greek or even DC theme. I admit, Goblins, Ratmen, Egyptians, Arabian, Rajah's, Spanish/Italian, Renaissance/Germanic, Chaotic Dwarves, or Wood Elves would hold little appeal for me. As would Halflings or Ice people or Pirates (living or dead). A were/skin changer army, Troll army or full Centaur/Minotaur army could be fun...

Steven Clark

bonjour pour ma part des haut elfe et des orc et gobelin me ferais plaisir

jimmy herault

I just became a patron a few days ago because I really like the detail of the figures. For me (a history nerd), I would like to see other cultures/time periods represented in the same detail. Genghis Kahn and the Huns. Germanic barbarians vs a Roman legion. Greeks vs Persians. Indians with Scimitars. I think you could do an Egyptian theme well with weapons of the time plus charioteers vs Hittites. Crusaders vs Saladin. Vikings vs the early Brits. Have a month with figures of one faction then the following month have the adversaries. Honestly, if the quality and detail are the same level...I'd be happy with almost anything.

John Wainscott

Please no Lizardmen or Tomb Kings/Empire of Dust. There are just too many Patreons/Kickstarters with these factions. I'd say the same for Chaos as well but perhaps you could put a fresh spin on them.

Dwarves and Chaos would be my ask first, maybe a different thought entirely, fantasy far east based on China with a terracotta army? Japan/Nipon with fantasy Samurai, Fantasy India daemon army?

Torrg

I love the idea of expanding the faction range, its a natural progression and you guys have done brilliantly in fleshing out the existing armies with intent on developing the lines even further as time goes on. I personally can't wait to see what you guys come up with in relation to new factions. Personally would love to see your take on Dwarves, Chaos & Orks and these are highly applicable in multiple fantasy settings. Keep up the great work and the amazing sculpts and I am looking forward to your guys future.

They weren't fighting the Macedonians, but you could go the route of the Persians of the movie 300. They had some pretty exotic units in that movie. that had a near fantastical look and feel to them.

Michael Johnson

Scythian (& Sarmatian) inspired army

Michael Johnson

Chinese (Han) inspired army

Michael Johnson

Macedonian style army versus Persian style army

Michael Johnson

Mongols!

Michael Johnson

Honestly Highlands Miniatures I am here for your sculpting skills, I would be very happy to see orcs, ratmen, wood elves, high elves, dark elves and of course my favourite Dwarves. I love the more fantasy stuff, I think goblins riding squig type mounts would be fun, giving Dwarves rams for mounts as well. So many fun ways to go, looking forward to what Highlands Miniatures decide to go for in the future :D.

Nates Miniatures

I want to see your take on Beastmen...very feral and animalistic beastmen. Ones with little to no shreds of civilization, with a dark, gritty, realistic, dangerous feel. I wouldn't mind seeing your take on Ogres, Orcs or Lizardmen, in the same vein as above...but my first choice would be beastmen. I would also love to see an Amazon style army, Amazonians, either in the classic greek/roman style, or DC like...or better yet, in the savage, jungle like setting. (maybe even amazon elves?)

Steven Clark

Possible suggestion may be Aztec and maya. Can then add conquistador Spanish. Has exotic armour, colour and Spanish could double into European conflict period such as siege of Malta and ottomans

Came for the not-Brettonians; impressed with the quality of the undead. Like the idea of creating and fleshing out two opposing armies for several releases, though it could make your subscribe/unsubscribe volumes "lumpy" - if there's something I don't want for one month I may stay, but if I know I won't want any releases for several months I'd probably leave (and may come back later). Dogs of War / Mercenaries type groups (mentioned by many above) mixed inot the release schedule might be a way to mitigate this - and if popular could provide a steer on next projects. Not sure I want a full 15tt-16th C Spanish army, but a unit of Conquistador types as Dogs of War, sure... and now maybe I want more of those. On personal preferences: army-wise my wife and I together have practically one of everything... but I'd be remiss if I didn't at least plug for a unit of Alpine Dwarves... with skis 'natch. :)

Martin Dickson

Italy XIV-XVth century condottiere/mercenary army would be great for people and allow you variety and thus, who know, fun while sculpting :P

Rmey

There are already a few good Dark Elf patreons out there right now, though. And Artisan Guild's set can build nearly everything. More wouldn't be terrible, but it isn't as empty as some other armies are.

Jefferson Thacker

I agree with this. I think the focus on iconic old school rank and file regiments is what makes this patreon extra special. Personally I find the thought of Old World Empire vs. Orcs and goblins very appealing. I know it almost can't get anymore cookie cutter, but I'm a nostalgic :) Full regiments of god specific chaos units would also be extremely welcome here. Most important to me is that you pick something you want to do yourselves.

Niels Kristensen

Yeah, there aren't many High Elves out there. Ilhadiel has done a set, but its on the oldhammer side of things. Other than that Ghamak is doing a set this month but his sets are never enough for an army. Just a few stand out units. A long time ago Archvillian put out a set of 'Sun Elves' that are neat, but very specific and not quite enough variety to do much with. And then... Battle Yack? They did one set that was mostly meant to be Blood Elves from Warcraft.

Jefferson Thacker

Dragonborn army would be great or like undersea people like the triton from dnd

Papal forces of the Inquisition - yeahh and MontyPython & THe Holy Grail - rest of the team ;)

Y think the world does not need more dwarfs or orks or wood elves, but for sure dark elves are necesary, and beastmen or fantasy medieval poland troops, with winged lancers too.

Late medieval mercenaries (like condottieri) would be great.

Leath Ar Nak

Dark elves VS....... ... ... . more dark elves i just want sum dark elves.

Michael Peterson

I'm here to pretend I'll ever play a rank and flank game :)

Eugene Meidinger

I play an army from almost all the alliances of you know who, but I would love to see some wood elves undead or normal, and dwarves are great too!

I would like to see some one-off regiments of reknown style units Papal forces of the Inquisition Dwarf Alpine Rangers Orcs of Whitewater Gorge The Bullmen Alliance The Disgraced Baron and his band of mismatched raiders The Flying Cavalry of the Floating Fortress

Maledrakh

There's already a lot of orcs, goblins, dwarf material available online out there. I'd really like it if you started creating more unique content, maybe something Tau inspired or a horse bipedal type army, maybe octupus' who are advanced warriors etc.

Austin

I joined for the Undead but really like the Medieval ones too. My all time favorite fantasy troupe is DWARVES!!!

Chaos and Empire would be great and work for your wheelhouse! Beastmen could be incorporated into Chaos and your Empire can be more like classical historical models. That would be aces!

Tucker Loper

Dwarves vs orcs are such a classic! And I think your style would fit both them of wonderfully.

I like the idea of working on several armies. Personally I am not a huge fan of beastmen, chaos and such. Others are so that is cool. By doing a unit or two from a couple different themed armies it would keep up the interest. I would love to see an Arab/Araby army set up to run as either Empire or Bretonian units. The Camelry would be worth the price of admission.

Would love to see some Late Medieval/Early Modern armies suitable for either use as Empire troops or historicals using Never Mind the Billhooks and the like. I would love to see Renaissance style dwarves as well.

I think rotating in other armies is a great idea. The things that attracted me to this patreon was the quality of the sculpts and the ability to build entire units of models, not any particular army. I think elves in general have been pretty underserved, at least as far as army building is concerned, so I would love to see you tackle some of those next. I think they would work well with your style. My preference would be dark elves but any variety would be interesting.

Terje Erwing Bjelkholm

I joined up because of the quality. I don’t play Bretonia or Undead. Personally I’d love to see Dwarves and Elves next. However I would rather you do what you are passionate to do, that’s how we end up with the best models.

Karsten Krahe

Some traditional Empire early rennaisance units like bowman, muskets, crossbows. Some Spanish/Portugese soldiers or like Empire with Wolves scheme (if you know what I mean) ;)

Miłosz Kiliński

Classic High Elves because nobody else does them. God that'd be amazing and just like the Bretonians you'd be bringing back a lot of nostalgic goodness. Just don't go sticking cows on their heads!

Greenskins, Orcs Goblins and their weird inventions and creatures. Egyptian undead is always nice. BIG STUFF like a Varghulf, Dragons (compatible with actual armies) or that kind of cool classic monsters

I am a big fan of Dwarves, Chaos Dwarves (big hats!), Wood Elves, Ogres, Old School Chaos Knights, and others, but as long as it’s playable in Kings of War or Age of Fantasy, I’d probably stick with it, just because your quality is solid. Might want to rotate between three armies, rather than two, and maybe stager them a bit so one is always in an early, middle and late phase so you don’t have to worry about a big drop off.

Jesse White

Dwarf, empire ratmen,kislev

I would love to see High Elves from you all. Not sure on the evil faction though... maybe chaos warriors?

Jefferson Thacker

Everything that should be said stands in the messages above me. You`ll do a great work doesnt matter which way or faction you choose. Nevertheless if you want to grow you should choose something different. Im following a few artists and Vampires/Werewolves/Undead/Demons/Angels/Monsters are always represented. So Skaven/Kislev/Chaos Dwarves/ Loxodons/Stromcast Etenernals like would attract new people and probably keep the old ones. Just my 2 cents

Narses

My favourites would be orcs. But there are also not enough skaven available. I would also like to see cathay in your style.

But yeah, looking at these, classic High Elves please, I think that would be super popular!

Simon S

Vikings and Saxons

Simon S

Empire/Landsknecht vs. Chaos/Norseman Marauders or Skaven/Rats vs. Dwarves or Ogre Army vs. Araby :D

Gene Cochran - (The Siege Tower)

I would like to keep the vs theme going. Other factions I would like to see are Elves, Gladiator Greek/Rome, Persian/Arabic inspired, Pirate themed.

Isael Martinez

I'd like to see something along the lines of Romans versus Celts.

Another vote for imperial humans, I feel there is no good Landsknechts troops stl out there.

I like the dynamic of one good army and one evil army. It also gives nice opportunities for modelling, corpses and/or broken equipment from the one faction on the bases of the other faction etc. As for what factions, I would keep it mainstream for now. You know that dwarves vs orcs or (dark)elves vs skaven for example will always have a huge following (and commercial success). If you go for a minor faction like chaos dwarves or 'nurgle' chaos the following will be smaller (and the commercial success not as big). If you want to play it safe, I think you can never go wrong with orcs vs dwarves. Guaranteed to make a lot of people happy (and therefore attract lots of followers). And no, orc armies have not been done hundreds of times already.

Alexander

i would love to see more factions

Orcs vs Elves, it's an obvious choice! Lol

Marie Stevens

Brilliant

ResinandFilament

Orcs in your style would have my heart pounding!

I definitely came for the Order of the Lady, so excited to see more releases of that! As far as next factions, I think a key consideration is interest and availability. In my short time printing and finding files, I've seen a lot of scultps but not all too many that are geared specifically for rank and file wargaming, more often inside twosie models for DnD. Of the wargame factions I see a lot of Lizards, Egyptian undead, regular human empires, and vampires cults..... I've only seen one or two for evil Elves, not a lot of breadth for Dwarves, and very few rats, ogres, and greenskins. I also think, as with some comments above, upcoming Total War game will drive up search interest for Kislev and Cathay, so being early in that aspect would help.

Would like to see High Elves in your style. Rare. Wood Elves if necessary; however there are many other creators of nice Wood Elves.

Peter Santucci

old dogs of war units for Warhammer! More Merc's!

Clive Henrick

Hi all, Honestly I'll continue to support your work. Minis are great and all the pre suported minis I've printed so far came out really nice! About the future as someone else mentioned the 2 opposing army is a great idea in my opinion. I would personally really like a kind of barbaric, savages Northmen a kind of mix between viking / Greyjoy and Cimmerian raiding the coast of a European Imperial army as you said!

Raphael Crouzat

Wood Elves vs Beastmen would get my vote. But with your quality, anything goes 😁

There are many different groups out there making the old WHF army lines, how about more human armies. German (Ren) and Italian Merc's is just some that would be so cool to do and it would work for WHF and Kings of War and most other systems.

Clive Henrick

Chaos and Tilea

I imagine with total warhammer 3 quite a few artists are going to start Kislev and Cathay themed minis, so I would be careful of competition if you choose to go either chinese or russian/cossack themed armies. Could also be a good time for it though with increased interest. I love lizardmen but I already have several different forms from other companies. Truthfully I really liked the old dogs of war units for warhammer and now they are either very old and simple looking or prohibitively expensive. Some other nationalities of humans are nice.

Kroq-Gar

Beastmen and Tilea AKA Fantasy Spain/Italy.

House Hendoe

Also just saying but there are so many sources of your generic fantasy elves, wood elves, and generic Dwarves, that they're just not exciting. If you're going to do those please give them a unique theme, like an elven colony somewhere exotic, and they've begun to style their arms/armor after the area, or Dwarves in Lustria, with more gold, and some of the themes from there incorporated to make them stand out

Chaos, orcs n gobbos, skaven, beastmen are all appreciated

Stephan

Cathays, rank-and-file ogres would be great too

There are hardly any patreons with high elves if such quality as your miniatures.

I’d love to see Ogres and Dwarfs

LOTR factions would be also nice. Haradrins or Rohan. 👌

I have two major thoughts here. 1. I like the idea of opposing forces. Like the medieval and undead were opposing I think future releases would do well in that same line, and double the chances that if someone is only into one faction that they see what they want. Examples I think of opposing factions would be things like Rats and Lizzardmen, Dwarves and Orcs/Goblins, Wood Elves/Beastmen, etc. 2. While Rats are prb my favorite race in general, I would really love to see the patreon go in a unique direction, with some factions that don't get enough love in my experience. I consider these factions to be Ogre Kingdoms, Dogs of War, Kislev, Cathay, Araby, and Southern Realms. I think there are some great opposing factions opportunities there, like Cathay and Ogres with ogres having a definite Mongolian theme, or Araby vs southern realms, etc with Dogs of War being awesome loyalty incentives

I support great artists until they start with elves :P Than I am out haha. What i love is: DWARVES!! in any kind! EMPIRE OF MANKIND!! For Karl Franz!!

Adam

Mortal human Viking types. Please!!

Adam CARROLL

My dream is to see some steampunk dwarves (sth like gw kharadron overlords), but instead of flying units their army would be centered around field artillery (mortars of different sizes, infantry with grenate launchers, etc) and heavy infantry in full armor

Another vote for dwarves, specifically in the older gdubs style.

wood elves vs dark elves

the ayatollah of rocknrolla

I use the miniatures for more medieval than fantasy. Maybe one fantasy one medieval. To keep a balance

dale

I came for the Warriors of the Lady, I'd stay for more of these or for Rus/Balts/Slavs (Kislev) and I think the upcoming Total War WH3 is going to bring a lot of hype on such an army! I'd love some more ghosts/banshees too.

I would love to have orc, goblins, dwarfs and barbarians stuff !!

MinionMancer

Please do - and something compatable with 9th age 😅🤗

Anders Ramm

Thank you for asking us about this! I would like to see two new factions every year. And for the existing factions small updates come 1-2 heroes or new banner carriers or something like that. I would like to see forest elves against animal humans

Pirates!

Charles Jordan

My vote is for complete armies before change to other one Creo que sería mejor completar los ejércitos que están empezados, antes que cambiar de ejercito :D

Sergio

The knights and undead work well as adversaries so it would be cool for both us and you (who has to scupt them) to choose a new pair so the ideas off the top of my head would be Dwarfs vs goblins Vikings(Norse) vs stepes russiains (Kislev) Imperial Humans vs Beastmen Lizardman vs undead pirates Or if you wanted to focus on one army but mixed up how about some old school mercenary style dogs of war especially some of the older units like the manflayers, elven rangers, orcs or the undead legion. That allows you to build a nice hero and a unit for them as well

David McCurdy

Elfos oscuros o reyes funerarios estaria genial

I joined the patreon for the Quality of the miniatures even im not a bretonnia/undead player. For my Taste there's never enought orcs and goblins. Ah and Hobgoblins probably deserve some love too!

Roger Jaques

SKAVEN

Enanos, enanos y mas enanos jejejejeje

I'd love to see vikings/barbarians that *aren't* demonic or evil. Like Norsca without the Chaos worship or dwarf slayers but in a winter environment. Orcs/Goblins/Trolls/Ogres would also be awesome, but grounded in realistic history? If your humans are 15th century Europe then they can be like Germanic or Mongolian tribes? Lighter armor but Scimitars, Axes, maybe even stuff looted from your other two armies?]

Mermaids!

Charles Jordan

Chaos? Orcs? Goblins?

I have not seen any really nice Lizardmen. With your skill it could be a really good army worthy of any kind of battle in Warhammer or Kings of War.

Hakan Karlsson

War machines!!!! 😍

Bruno Parés

I would like to see some kislev style army like winged hussars on bears. Have you seen Warhammer total war 3 trailer? There is going to be muchch hype for those and people will be looking for gw alternatives to personalize their armies. I would like to see some orcs and barbarians as well.

Piotr Łukomski

Drow? Or Elemantals?

Charles Jordan

I'm here because your models are great in quality and variety. I'm not interested in this or that army so much as highly usable minis for our TTRPG games. That said, a monstrous army might be the ticket if you're looking to stretch out. You could build numerous complete units of different monsters within an army. Each containing several variations on that monster theme. Example, a monstrous army could have units for Goblins, Hobgoblins, Bugbears, Worgs, Minotaurs, Ogres, Orcs, Trolls, etc. Follow the same idea for an Infernal (Devils) army, and an Abyssal (demons) army. Large themes with solid units containing highly useful variations. Hope that helps!

Alex A

Dwarves on the one hand, Barbarians/Vikings/Raiders on the other. No Elves! :-D

Wim D.

Wood elves, chaos, barbarians. Also some generic idea: -"magical forest" creatures, like dryads -"magic guilds" I'd like also some spell-like effect on some model like a mage with a flaming/electric hand or a paladin with a flaming sword

Alessandro Caffi

Barbarians/vikings

Jen

I would love to see dwarves army made by you :) I'm sure your models would be absolutely stunning :) And also dwarves fits as enemy to almost every other army - elves, orcs, chaos, barbarians, ogres. Each of them have their own page in Book of Grudges ;)

Imperials based on 30 Years War could appeal to WH Fantasy and your Historical games. I would be all for this.

Jason Dickerson

Halflings!

Evil elves VS Nice Elves, no "coneheads" please!

I think doing an army at a time would be great. So yeah, finish fleshing this one out and move to the next! Chaos and/or orcs would be great. I think that doing too much of the same army can get tiresome

Juan romero

What about your own unique spin of a fantasy army?

Charles Jordan

Vlad the impaler and the wallachian armies, austo-hungarians. There's lots of fantasy but few medieval, these can be used for both, and Vlad with his vampire / human army

dale

I would love barbarians, ogres, elves!

Benjamin Kauer

Speaking strictly as a merchant I have to say an elf army would be a great addition. I follow pretty much all the big patreons out there and can't remember an elf army for any of them.

Harry Colquhoun

What i would love is an underwater army able to rank up

wimpiewombat

I would absolutely adore Ogres. There's not enough of them around and Big models always come out cleaner in FDM.

Charlezany

Empire would be great and Dare I say it high elves. Can’t find any out there

First - KITTY!!! Second - Thank you for asking this! I love how interactive you are with the community. Here are my thoughts- You are only going to be able to go so far with any army. Your minis are consistently a top seller for me. But it's not like they are going away. I fully encourage you to try new armies. From my own selfish perspective, I play Wood Elves and orcs, so I would love to see your take on this. But other ideas are welcome. I love the idea of units in various historical styles - Eastern European in particular gets not much love. I think your success is due to finding armies that don't have a lot of figures of your quality. Sure, there are lots of undead models, but they are often ... well, nowhere near your caliber. So I encourage you to pick something that doesn't have a lot of choice right now, and most importantly something you love so your passion continues to show through the designs. oh, and finally, PLEASE don't stop doing the little funny models like Patsy!

Erik Johnson

Barbarians. Flayed mounted knights.

Just joined the patreon. Amazing miniatures. Keep them amazing and I will stay. No matter faction.

Morten Trydal

Hey thanks for including us! I don't think you should be afraid at all - we're here to support you as artists and sometimes that means trying new things and taking risks. And sometimes they won't be great! Sometimes you'll stumble across a new gem and people will rave about it! I'm personally really excited to see some new factions, as a merchant I love the idea of expanding my variety out! (Also I look fwd to new models that aren't as crazy delicate and hard to ship as the skeletons :p) Maybe what you can do after you've completed these factions is just come back to them once in awhile by adding a bonus model or two each month that can go back and compliment them, when new ideas come up. Just to keep them alive in a little way.

Jason Knudsen

Ogres plzz!!!

Chaos and Landknechts-based empire would be perfect!

Piotr Paradowski

Chaos warrior !

Frederic Ruggiu

Barbarians or Ogres would be good - neither niche is particularly full right now
