To add on, terms like “BCT” on that graph are terms used famously in the U.S. Military, during the Cold War, and is being used during the Global War on Terror, It’s interesting that Giad’s military structure and strategy resembles the U.S. military doctrine. Protection over Mobility with the philosophy that a skilled soldier is more precious than a hunk of metal or vehicle.

I might be late but I’m not gonna lie, as someone that is a big geek with the military, the unit icons they used in 11:10-16 was actually super fascinating because it is real-life military NATO symbols, there is some distinctions and some symbols being mismatched, but the fact they decided to use real world NATO military unit icons is interesting.

I think wesley intellectually understands why they wouldn’t listen to Shin. But because we know better we have that instinctive Nooooo! Please listen! We don’t want other people to die!

Wes And Steph

Haha genius!

In fact, Shin could have anonymously warned about attacks without revealing himself if he really wanted to. (I imagine him creating a Telegram channel/Twitter and writing about attacks every time, compiling a history of fulfilled predictions 😂)

So I understand why Wes is all "cardinal rule = listen to Shin". We as the audience of course know that Shin has a distinct advantage in Legion intel due to being able to hear them. However, I'm a little surprised that Wes was not a bit more understanding in his comments about Shin's warning to the Federacy brass and their dismissal of it. Last episode, I was happy to hear Wes make note of the Federacy taking back lost territory against the Legion. It showed that the Federacy was capable of going on the offensive in this war. They do not just sit back and turtle like the Republic is doing. It also implies the Federacy, for one reason or another, rejects the idea of the Legion shutting down in 2 years. In this episode we see the Federacy does reconnaissance on the Legion and actually analyzes the data gathered. They were able to determine on their own the Legion were planning a major large scale offensive in the very near future. In contrast to the Republic who, other than Lena, is blissfully unaware of anything by being willfully ignorant due to their military doctrine and discrimination of the 86. So now put yourselves in the shoes of the Federacy brass. They have shown they are able to prosecute an offensive war against the Legion and are reasonably competent with gathering intel. Then this kid comes along, who they had to seemingly rescue, and says their data is wrong and the coming Legion offensive is much larger than anticipated. But with no evidence to back up his claims. No explanation how he knows. Plus to them, this kid has no access to resources that could give him this information. Of course they would dismiss his claims because to them there is no basis for it. Unless Shin reveals his ability and demonstrates it, I think it is completely reasonable for the Federacy to dismiss his claims. But we know that Shin is keeping his ability under wraps and rightly so for all the reasons Raiden pointed out. At least Grethe was eager to read Shin's report. Other than Lena, anyone else in the Republic would have just thrown it in the trash lol If you get a chance, go back and compare the map and personnel board in Lena's room shown in episode 12 (around 6:37) to now shown in this episode's post credits. Now the area shaded in red on the map is much, much larger depicting the Republic is being closed in on...like a noose tightening. And the personnel board has far fewer faces on it among Lena's current unit. The girl has been busy but unfortunately, not in a good way. Loved the reaction as always. And yes, I totally get the sentiment about how our heroes just can't seem to progress in the overall situation. Just seems like an endless stalemate.
