About Knightmare analogies in our world, drones are definitely not it because of the price question. In our time I’d say the closest weapon are precision strike missiles - they can usually be transported and launched by any possible carrier, carry the immense power and precision, and while they’re not cheap in development and materials, they are still disposable. Also, just to add more touch to how unfair this power towards Japanese is - Japan is the biggest source of Sakuradite in the world, it’s ~70%. It is probably the big reason Britain conquered them. And guess what is the power source of the Knightmares and nearly all machinery of the imperials?
