There's only 1 active worldline at any given time but if you want to read on it a bit more, I'll post the official worldline definition down below and it comes straight from the visual novel that the anime is adapted from. Essentially, all events on a worldline are already predetermined and cannot be changed. Anything that could result in a paradox is instead changed by the attractor field convergence to make sure the future isn't changed too drastically. It's why Okabe had to fake Kurisu's death to save her and he couldn't just move her out of the building to save her because it's already been established that his past self sees her lying in a pool of blood. If Okabe's past self had checked her pulse to confirm her death then it would've been impossible to fake her death. There's also the fact that Okabe wouldn't want to save Kurisu as much as he does if he hadn't seen her lying in a pool of blood because him sending that D-mail to Daru after the fact is what kickstarted the entire events of the original show. That D-mail saying that "Makise Kurisu has been stabbed" got picked up by SERN'S Echelon system (mail monitoring system designed to look for time travel related information) and moved Okabe from the Beta worldline that we see now over to the Alpha worldline that the majority of the original show takes place in. https://i.imgur.com/KleThC3.png

2025-05-06 19:25:09 +0000 UTCHey are you guys okay? Usually you guys would like comments, post updates if anything behind the scenes were happening, and reply to comments and concerns. I'm kind of worried.
