Code Geass Episode 2

Comments

Being stabbed in the back by your best friend is worse than being stabbed upfront by an enemy.

Jack

Sorry completely logical question here, "traitor is worse than the enemy" what does that mean? would you say the same thing for the German population that spoke against the nazi regime? Same question for whistle-blowers that are branded as "traitors".

Ahh yes.. the Code Geass enigma that has haunted me all these years lol my OG love to hate character before Light is Lelouch and I don't think any outcome for the show could've changed that 😂 I like what they did though, putting the wrong guy on the right team and the right guy on the wrong one, and even further, having a Britannian fight for the Japanese and a Japanese for the Britannians. I think it's a clever writing mechanism to basically say that there's no "good guy vs bad guy" in war, but rather what those fighting do in it. You could be fighting for a good cause, but if the things you do in battle are inhumane, then you're still the bad guy and vice versa. At least, what I can recall of the show. I was what, 8 when I watched this? Lol Also an interesting touch is they included real WW2 tidbits in the show that while leaving such a bad taste in my mouth, do a good job of setting the tone for the Britannians. Things like calling them "monkeys" (an actual slur Americans used to dehumanize the Japanese was yellow monkeys, and they would paint walls of "cleared zones" with that slur to signal to allies that it had been cleared of hostiles.. or u know, citizens, because we couldn't tell the difference apparently) I didn't pick up on this as much as a kid, so seeing it as an adult is wild. If an American show did this nowadays, they'd be canceled so fast 😂

Yeah, see this is why I said what I said on the first episode’s comment, as soon as I finished this episode, I got so confused on where he mentioned his lineage. Yes normally you’d get a plot twist, but when I saw it initially, it caught me off guard and I instantly thought it had to do with his powers at first. Or he was pulling it from his ass.

I'm so excited for your reaction to the next episode! (I can't say why because of spoilers but it shows what I love about the series).

I’m honestly surprised you guys don’t like Lelouch but I think you will soon. He’s in my top 3 anime protagonists of all time. He might be #1…

By the way. Code Geass is an ORIGINAL. It had no prior manga, book or anything. Yep, this anime is the FIRST of Geass series
