Alice In Borderland Episode 1

Comments

I’m finally gonna start this show, now that I can binge watch it, I’m super excited!

Mikki

I LOVE mind game shows like this!

Chels

We should've just not tell them Arisu = Alice and make them guess through the entire show. It would be the funniest thing ever.

Runhua Tang

Arisu = Alice. That's how it's pronounced in Japanese. In Japanese there is no “l”, they have something that phonetically lies between “l”, “d” and “r”. And most of the time, Japanese is syllable-based. They have 3 forms of writing: Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana (used to write words of foreign origin). So...Arisu => アリス => ア(A) リ(Ri) ス(su) with almost silent "u" => Alice Other examples: Krillin from Dragon Ball = Kuririn => ク(ku)リ(Ri)リ(Ri)ン(n) There's no “v” in Japanese either. It's closer to “b”. Vegeta from Dragon Ball = Beji-ta => ベ(Be)ジ(Ji)ー(meaning long one)タ(Ta) Violet Evergarden = Baioretto => ヴァ(Bu+a=Ba)イ(i)オ(o)レ(Re)ット(To with emphasis on the T) Levi from Attack on Titan = Ribai => リ(Ri) ヴァ(Bu+a=Ba)イ(i)

FUN FACT: Same music composer as Vinland Saga!

The name “Alice” sounds like Arisu when pronounced in Japanese, the whole show is based in Alice in wonderland and you’ll find a lot of references, from the cards to characters names and personalities. This show is crazy, and even tho it has a similar concept to squid games this one came way before and in my opinion is better, so if you liked squid games you’ll love this one, and yes, I also feel stupid when I watch it lol

carocatowr

Fun fact they didn’t actually film at shibuya they built a whole set to look exactly like it!

Ateezfan_xx (mars)

By the way "Alice" is Arisu. When you say Alice with a japanese accent it sounds like Arisu. His name. So thats why the shows called Alice in borderland. "Arisu in borderland". Its just the main characters name there is no other Alice

Gatha Naranath

Agreed. My point was to let them know that there are in case they were unaware. And the seasons are tied, the closure comes at S2.

Md Sheam Bin Sayhid

haven't seen this one...intrigued to watch with you guys as always <3

Nele

Yey!! I've seen this show soooo many times but it still fun to watch you guys watch it and I will rewatch it with the both of you 😊😂🤣

Arcie

I love this series. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Soul

I've recently started getting into your K-drama shows and have been enjoying them a lot so far. I'm excited to watch this one together with you guys! I haven't seen it before, but I've always heard it's good.

Rockycitygirl

Why would they stop after Season 1 if more seasons have already been released? It's not like they've ever done that before.

Rockycitygirl

So excited for this! Merry Christmas!

Vincent Lee

A Drama can be original or adapted from a written form of literature that includes Novel, Comic, true historical documents, etc. As such, it is still a drama. Manga as you know is just Japanese word for their comics. Live action or play of those documents doesn’t make it a different genre. Anime scene has popularized the term “Live action” AIB is a j-drama first and can also be called Live action but that’s second by actual literature definition. By anime & manga conventions you’re correct. But that doesn’t apply to definition of drama or literature.

Md Sheam Bin Sayhid

Eyyy finally!! Please note that to conclude the series you’ll need to watch both seasons. Unlike Squid game the games here don’t end till the End of S2. and Merry Christmas guys n to everyone in the chat, Happy Holidays!! ^^

Md Sheam Bin Sayhid

Alice in Borderlands has a special place in my heart. I am really happy you are reacting to this. Merry Christmas

Honeybadger

I love Alice in borderland so much! I'm so excited!

LailaS

@40:00 lmaooo Wesley’s mouth open in disbelief the entire time Arisu’s solving the puzzle 😭

ParkMinJeon

Also another fun fact if you didnt know is that Alice In Wonderlands OG Name is Alice Underground or something like that

Kai Kage

This is a Show based on a Manga of the same name, BTW Alice is the main character [Arisu] because how the Japanese pronounce the name Alice is AL-REES-U to put it simply

Kai Kage

People have already explained that ARISU (our main guy) is ALICE as his name would be the Japanese version of the English name. You should see if you can pick out the other Alice in wonderland inspired characters aside from him, there are a few others. It’ll be interesting to hear pre/post episodes or whenever it comes to mind haha. So excited to be on this journey with you guys! Strap in! :)

Hina

btw, Alice in borderland is actually a manga that got adapted as a live action series instead of an anime (for whatever reason) but it was probably for the best because it blends in perfectly with other netflix shows so its not actually a "J drama" like you said in the begining lol but you are still right in a sense

Marko Genter

The way Arisu is pronounced in Japanese sounds close to how Alice sounds in English. “Ah-ri-su”-Arisu Also, some of the stuff adds an alice in wonderland element to it. Like the playing cards and fantasy element of being stuck in a wonderland you can’t escape.

Mikkeai8908

Merry Christmassss !!

Leenseoh

Yesssss can't wait to watch!

Rachel Mint Suga

Alice = Arisu. So it's, Arisu in Borderland.

Calt Being

Merry Christmas!! Also just wanted to tell you because they don’t actually explain in the show, and it’s not a spoiler, some people figure it out some don’t. But Arisu IS Alice. The pronunciation of Arisu in Japanese sounds like how they would also pronounce Alice. So in other words it’s “Arisu in Borderland” not going to lie, it took me until like season 2 to realize 😭

Fiyin Cole

Merry Christmas❤️❤️❤️

KK

Merry Christmas! 🎄

Raíssa Tonin

Merry Christmas!!
