Let's remember that Suguru isn't the first one to trash talk and Oikawa literally yells at Karasuno "kuso gakidomo" which is "shitty brats" when he dove that one time in their match lol. The difference is that there is intent to mentally challenge the opponents for Suguru while Oikawa was letting his true feelings/frustration show

2024-12-20 01:04:34 +0000 UTCI know you guys really disliked Nohebi (Nekoma's opponents), but honestly they're probably one of the only realistic teams in the show. If you watch sports you'd see grown adults doing the same if not much worse, in every sport (diving, trash-talk, stratigic fouls, stratigically injuring opponents, etc). And if you've actually played any sport competitively, you'd know this happens at every level (I completely agree with not trash-talking opponents when you're playing non-competitive games like the church games you mentioned in the last episide). These are just highschool kids and going to the nationals tournament means everything to them. So they're going to pull every trick they've got up their sleeve to get an edge on the opponents. As long as they don't have the same personality off-court, I don't think it's really fair to call highschool kids scumbags for a little trash-talk.
