I agree that this decision could open the door for future expansions, and fandoms. Maybe they can bring western, european, japanese and other shows to watch and K-pop groups like Stray Kids, my personal favorites, instead of only BTS, etc etc. All in all it was a good choice to add AIB

WELL this poll has been a lot haha, I'm open to whatever Wes and Steph want to do :) I have some suggestions though for future reference that may help. 1) Maybe Kdrama polls should be done across genre, I've seen this done by others who react to one kdrama at a time and it makes for more diverse/dynamic picks and different Kdramas to get reacted to. Which is the beauty of Kdramas, there are so many styles and classics alongside newer shows within these styles that are worth watching. So Wes and Steph would ask for drama suggestions for example in the realm of Slice of life and Romance or Action and Thrillers or more Unique Dramas (like historical, magical realist). Whatever of these 3 genres they're interested in and then maybe our suggestions go in a poll and we vote like normal. 2) Also, maybe there could be surprise 'miscellaneous' non k-drama polls in the future, only whenever Wes and Steph have a period of time where they feel they have the capacity to react to a Kdrama and a non kdrama. Would give space for shows like AIB to be watched without so much debate over what slot they should go in.

I watched all their content but wasn't here for the business proposal's airing, although I watched it all. It's interesting, They double drop or surprise upload many more anime shows; I remember movies more than i've ever seen BTS or K-dramas; I believe they simply enjoy those more - Occam's Razor - it's very understandable; some K-dramas I feel could've ended earlier but I think the same way for all western tv shows like stranger things, the boys etc, I'm not that biased

Love Wes and Steph but I’d be disappointed if they don’t at least address the issue. It’s great that there are so many people that love AIB and want it to be reacted to, including myself, but it should be done authentically and through the correct means. Having it as the kdrama slot, is kinda of slap to the face to the kdrama audience, since they patiently wait for their favorite kdramas to be reacted to. It’s no fault to the voters that voted for it, since they put the show as an option, but it should definitely be addressed so that this issue does not happen again :)

@yang Respectfully, i have to disagree. K drama does not dominate their content-- perhaps you are lumping in k drama with the BTS content, which is entirely different (being nonfiction and musical). There was just _one_ slot open for k-dramas, but now there are none for the next few months because of how this poll turned out. A kdrama fan who's not a jdrama fan (nor an anime fan) would be left in limbo and understandably disappointed Like me. But i'm patient and can wait 😄 and thankfully BTS brought me here and have that to watch with them

Not sure why y’all feel the need to defend the vote this much. You said it yourself, some anime fans might swing the vote to get AIB to win marginally. That in itself is so hypocritical to your last sentence of “please respect the majority vote”. Because this is a vote for a KDRAMA. It’s literally in the title of the poll - “KDRAMA POLL”. So if there are anime fans pulling for a non kdrama show, it is disrespecting the intent of this poll entirely. At the end of the day, it’s not the anime fan’s fault that they made AIB a choice. I’ve said it before that I think this was shortsighted on Wes and Steph’s part. But the constant replies from the people trying to justify their vote to AIB are so hilarious. Long comment ahead! I'm glad some are really happy about the AIB win. I've seen it and it is a great show, amazing storytelling. Just doesn't belong in this poll unfortunately . I also think it's crazy to ask people who are here for kdramas to just accept a democratic vote when AIB does not belong in the Kdrama category. If people think the result is a plus because it is a good show that may have otherwise not have been watched, then it should take one of the many anime spots or be watched as a live action. It's very unfair for it to take the one Kdrama spot, seeing as there are about 3/4 in a year and mainstream or more recent dramas have tended to win in the past, likely in some part as a result of voting not being exclusive to people that actually watch Kdramas. No doubt we'll get Squid Game S2 and another AIB season next year because of this. And it's all well and good telling people the top more niche kdramas will be watched eventually, but it honestly could be years before that happens with recency and mainstream bias affecting voting. But that is what is i suppose. Though, this poll result and people's justification of it is understandably gonna be disheartening for some. Nevertheless, it's up to wes and steph on what they decide to do, I'll be here. Great reactors :)

I was there for anime and K-drama polls. I can assure you, @Brooklyn, that the people in this post are not the same groups of people in the other post. I'm seeing different people and not seeing a large number of anime comments like you are expecting. Many K-Drama fans are voting for AIB, which is why it's the majority vote. You wouldn't be interested in this poll if you only watch their anime content. Maybe some anime fans could swing the votes to get AIB to win marginally; that's it. Even if it’s not an anime, it is a Jdrama, like you said. This is a Kdrama poll. The fact that a Jdrama is winning a Kdrama poll means that many of the anime audience is voting for AIB. And so kdrama audience is gonna be upset cus they get only one show a week, while anime audience gets 5 shows a week. I am in both the anime and kdrama audience and I want them to react to a Kdrama because there are shows specific to that genre that have waited their turn. This is AIB’s first time on the poll and it is beating the show that came second last poll. It's possible that you haven't participated in other K-drama polls or checked the comment sections for them to really see what I'm talking about, but I believe that every K-drama fan who enjoys watching Wes and Steph and appreciates their reactions doesn't view it as entitlement for requesting more than one episode/show a week. Instead, we see it as our right to provide suggestions and feedback for something we support financially. This interaction is essential for the growth and success of their channel. I want to clarify that I'm not upset about it being a Japanese drama. As someone who isn't Asian, I truly value the chance to explore this culture and find it incredibly beautiful and captivating. Therefore, regardless of the nationality of a show within the Asian entertainment industry, I'm always willing to give it a shot because I think that's part of the charm of the culture I'm embracing. That said, as K-drama fans (likely the most niche group among all the genres they cover) we feel particularly frustrated because we often have limited options within our community on this channel. Considering that shows can run for 12 to 16 weeks (or even up to 20) with just one episode released each week, we end up waiting for months for a single show to conclude before we can dive into another. Just think about it: if this were the case for anime reactions, would you want a K-drama to be included in that poll and actually win after such a long wait? I doubt it.

It’s a bit unfortunate, I would say, but the only unfair thing is you trying to frame this as if it’s anime vs. K-drama. This has nothing to do with anime. You’re apparently just mad because it’s not a KOREAN show. The reason this channel has way more anime content is either because more people want to see it or because Wes and Steph enjoy it more than other stuff (probably a mix of both). It’s not that hard to understand. That’s also why the "surprise" releases are mostly anime related - it’s just content they like to consume on their own, even if it’s not voted for. Also, I don’t get the part about begging and insisting for more shows, as if you’re entitled to a certain amount of shows or episodes. The channel started out with BTS and anime content, as far as I know, and K-drama got added later on. That’s cool if people like it, but I would guess it’s more of a niche pick. I've thought about it as well, but it's very understandable in some ways; their biggest channel is Sidemen Channel, and 2nd is Anime Channel; they can't upload K-Dramas to YT without it being restricted badly and cut to 20 minutes. I came to this channel from their Anime Channel, and most people have done the same way, that's why there's 1 K-Drama (used to be 2), 1 BTS, and 5-6 Anime Episodes. Their K channel is easily the weakest but I know they did a channel split as well

I really hope they take the time to read these comments and consider giving the second lead winner (which is actually a kdrama) a fair shot, ALONG with AIB. (As in doing both shows!) It just doesn’t seem right (no matter how much you try to dress it up to make AIB sound like the greatest thing since sliced bread) for kdrama fans to only have ONE show a week. Just one! Even when insisting and practically begging that we should get at the minimum two kdramas a poll. (Which is two episodes a week) Meanwhile, anime fans are enjoying five shows plus surprise releases each week. I've watched it and I love all the actors in it but it honestly wasn't my cup of tea...we spent way too much time with the bad guys and it was too angsty for me. CLOY was funny and the supporting cast was amazing. QoT, great supporting cast but the script wasn't as funny just melodramatic. I know it'll win, hopefully we'll get a chance for other fun romcoms after it. I'll explain, I believe the reason is clear: they have 4 main fanbases: Anime fans, K-Drama fans, BTS fans and Sidemen fans. The shows that get uploaded the most in their Patreon are easily Anime shows, thus more anime fans. For a lot of us Anime fans, we haven't watched these K-Dramas, except Squid Game, Flower of Evil, and What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, but we have watched Alice in Borderland, the same creator as Zom 100. It's also just a great show

Here's my case for Alice in Borderland: I Was Obsessed with the Show. The plot, world-building, mystery, characters, and problem-solving make this story incredibly intriguing. I recommend that people vote for it as one of their 2 votes, as there are very few (good) reactions to this show. People who enjoy Squid Game, All of Us Are Dead, and Most Anime will love this show. It's exceptional, and Season 3 is coming soon. It can only get better. Lastly, you will be surprised at the show's messaging; I found some episodes very impactful and insightful (wisdom, sagacity), like it was for Vinland Saga's Season 2, IYKYK. The characters are great, and their weak parts are easily explained by the end; there is a reason for any bad writing. Netflix adapted it from a Manga; of course, they changed some parts. It's still incredible; unlike some other Live Action, it wasn't ruined. I've heard some K-Dramas were adapted from a webtoon, and they similarly change parts. I'll be honest, I was one of the people who voted for Queen of Tears & Alice In Borderland, but I was mainly rooting for the series I like more, AIB, and if Queen of Tears ever got close to winning I would've taken my vote off it, that's what rank choice voting is all about!

Plus it's not guaranteed that w&s are going to do 2 dramas (aib and a kdrama) since they may not have the time/space. Which we totally understand.

Where/when was it ever discussed (by w&s or the community) that the kdrama slot is a catch all for all types of drama or live action? I think this is part of where the disappointment comes from because some (granted we are a minority) would be surprised by this.

I've been a patron since 2022 and they occasionally have surprise double uploads for anime but rarely do the same for K-dramas.

Are you an anime fan? The concept of a double drop or surprise upload is quite unfamiliar to K-drama fans; it almost never occurs. I believe the last time it happened was during the airing of "Business Proposal," which was four shows ago.

I'm really glad alice in borderland finally in a poll, it was J-drama I had no hope it was going to ever get selected but its popular because its the best j-drama, everyone needs to know this j-drama is one of the best shows i compare it to squid game

Since anime contents have 2 days, why don’t they split it with a day for anime and a day for japanese live drama. In that way, kdrama day won’t be compromised. I think that would be fair for everyone

The last proper romcom we had ended last year December. Next best thing was Woo Young Woo, which ended in April. By the time AIB ends, it’s going to be about another year

But then, that means for the next 4 months, there’s not going to be a kdrama. Looking at it that way,I can understand why people are upset.

I was just so sad when we lost queen of tears last time (it was also in a second place) so I was hoping to get it now, but I guess I should wait again for a few months more🥹

I was paying this month specifically to get access for the new k-drama show, so it’s a bit upsetting that a Japanese show is winning… But I’m still gonna watch it, hope it’s good🥺

I’m probably not into it enough to understand the nuances between J-dramas and K-dramas, but that’s just about the only good point people have - the fact that it’s not a K-drama. However, if you’re trying to tell me this is anime or closer to anime, I’m not agreeing at all.
