Suga Road To D-Day

omg🥹luv you guys reaction so much

나랑 스껄할래

Ah, Lisa, thanks for the additional info! I thought that this was the case, but second-guessed myself at the last minute and went with "sometimes" to err on the side of caution, lol. That tour sounds awesome!

Keisha L

You guys talked about COVID almost being "good timing," and I can't just let that go without commenting. COVID was absolutely HORRIBLE timing for them. It honestly couldn't have been worse timing. They were about to embark on their last full world tour (Map of the Soul) with 38 concert dates - it was literally supposed to kick off in Seoul on April 11, 2020 - so only a few weeks after the world shut down. They had a plan in place that included the tour ending in September, then Jin and SUGA entering the military by the end of 2020, and the rest of the members would work on solo projecs and enter the military in a way similiar to what they are doing now, it just would have been three years earlier. They were devastated when COVID prevented that, and they are their label were pretty much flying by the seat of their pants for the entire period after that. Jimin's album "FACE" talks about the feelings he had during that time, as does the group album "BE." "Blue and Grey" came out of that time - a song originally written by V to express his feelings during that time. There were good things that ended up coming out COVID, but they also worked too hard, doing performance after performance - never in front of an audience - of Dynamite (30+ different versions), Bang Bang Con: The Live, online concerts Map of the Soul ON:E, award show performances, Sowoozoo, and Permission to Dance: On Stage. They were just as busy if not busier during that time, and they didn't have any of the live fan feedback that they thrive on. It was a very difficult time for them...they have all talked about it.

Lisa

It's a minor thing, but the location for In the Soop season 2 is pretty much always open for tours. I mean, it's not just "sometimes" - it's closer to "most of the time." My daughter and I visited it last summer, end of June, as a tour (purchased through Klook) that also included a stop at the beach bus stop that was the shooting location for the "You Never Walk Alone" album, as well as the rest stop where JK stopped during his vlog.

Lisa

I guess they won't really know the easter eggs and references but there's always xCeleste to break it down 😊 they could watch her videos before watching Begins Youth

Geee

they didnt dive further into the storyline of the BTS Universe after reacting to all their music videos so, unfortunately, I dont think it will happen anythime soon. 😭 It's been 2 years since their reaction so I dont think they remember much either 😅

Leenseoh

Please react to BTS Begin Youth Drama 😭

Geee

yes, this is a nice recommendation!! maybe they can include the RM Live in Seoul as well as it is basically a private concert.

outrolars

i believe the melody you were hearing that you couldn't place was a song from the movie "merry christmas, mr. lawrence" which he composed. that was why yoongi looked so nervous playing it in front of him 😭😭😭

neens

Jhope's, Suga's and Jimin's docus all feel sooo different! I think it's great. They all clearly were part of the creative process and the direction the filming narrative :D

Lela

Totally agree Steph! The long wavy hair is my fav Suga hair style as well :)

Lela

sadly the movie doesn't include the whole concert so I definitely recommend the final concert over the movie

Lela

I couldn’t sleep so I’ve come back with the list of songs he’s produced (not including songs he’s produced for BTS albums) • Wine by Suran • Eternal Sunshine by Epik High • Song Request by Lee Sora (ft. Suga) • We Don’t Talk Together by Heize • Suga’s Interlude by Halsey (ft. Suga) • Eight by IU (ft. Suga) • Blueberry Eyes by Max (ft. Suga) • You by ØMI • My Universe - SUGA’s Remix • Stay Alive by JungKook of BTS • That That by PSY (ft. Suga) • Our Island by BTS Island: In the SEOM • Over the Horizon — Samsung (there is a 2021 version of this song and a 2022 version. He produced both versions for Samsung)

Ahjusshi_Brown

With Yoongi I have noticed when he is around people he is comfortable with he can bring out his goofy side..haha He is such a character. I really loved the way they put this documentary together and saying him interact with other people they are friends with esp Halsey. You can tell they are very good friends with her doing his hair...haha so much fun. I love when Yoongi is playing the piano. He actually posted a video of him playing the piano in the Hotel he stayed at. Played that whole song. But I don't remember where it was posted at, if someone can link it. Glad you guys reacted to this, can't wait for Jimin's.

Venita Morse

I cannot watch Rookie King. I have tried to watch it a few times and i just get so much second hand embarrassment from the punishments. also, not saying they shouldn't watch it just saying it is hard for me.

Venita Morse

49:09 it's so funny to watch yoongi literally yelling fuck and shit and they just dont translate it

ly1111

Not sure if anyone suggested this but can you guys watch BTS's Rookie King show at some point? Either on youtube or patreon, but I think that you've watched quite a few variety shows from BTS and Rookie King is literally their oldest one. It's so hilarious and they were so unhinged, coz they had literally just debuted, so it was an absolute chaos.

Aly

Would love to see your reaction to Jungkook's Golden live stage. It was a really lovely concert. I think you'll enjoy it too 😊 if you have the time.

Lori

also: somebody probably mentioned it already, but RM's gonna release new album called "Right Place Wrong Person" next month! he will release first song (a pre-release track) with an MV on may 10th and the main single on may 24th. just letting you guys know that the whole project consist of 5 mvs in total (he will realease the remaining three on may 28th, may 31st and june 10th). im letting you know so you can decide if you want to react to them individually or just do one big reaction later!!

morela

another fun fact: Halsey and Suga collaborated few times. obviously she's featuring on "Boy with luv". Suga featured on "Suga's interlude" on Halsey's album "Manic". last year they released "Lilith", which was a soundtrack to the newest "Diablo" game. i recommend checking this song out in your spare time. i know that you guys love fantasy novels and such and this song has a vibe that goes really well with them

morela

100% agree!!

Evelyna<3

And the last SUCHWITA that Yoongi filmed was with him!! It’s a great episode, you should watch it!

Rinakin

Yessss!!

Sjfyy_

Sadly the RIP at the end was signed by Agust D, not for. The RIP was for Ryuichi Sakamoto who died March 28th 2023 so basically soon after meeting Yoongi. 😢

Chels

I'm so excited!

bbjminie

Yup , they mention it at the end that they’re starting it next week

ParkMinJeon

Anderson Paak and his wife divorced back in January.

ParkMinJeon

You guys keep watching the versions where there’s no subtitles while they’re singing ☹️ I hate Weverse. They suck for that

ParkMinJeon

Also I'm so emotionally attached to Snooze, it is such a great song and it comforts me every time I need it, and the lyrics feel like a warm hug <3

Daniela Miño

I was so excited to watch this with you! Yoongi will always be an inspiration and what you say about the members at the end is true they are so humble and I think that they deserve everything that's good in life and they deserve more success than the one they already have <3 and I'm excited for next week and watching Jimin's documentary it is going to be fun <3 I hope you can keep reacting to Suchwita because it is interesting watching Yoongi talking to not only musicians but also actors and celebrities, and we learned a new things about him each episode. Also I hope you can react to his final concert which was really emotional and it made me realize how grateful I am about being his fan this is the link to his last concert and has subtitles https://vimeo.com/852687229/bd49cdeed1 Have a great week guys!

Daniela Miño

Not all of the songs performed in this documentary are from D-DAY. Some were from his second mixtape D-2. The song you heard at abt the 1 hour mark was not the one he was producing from the scenes before, as it is a track from D-2. It’s called “People” (not to be confused with People pt.2 ft. IU) and it’s one of Yoongi’s most popular songs. Beautiful lyrics.

Ahjusshi_Brown

Aaa this was so good! I loved seeing yoongi's process with the album! It was very different from J-hope's and I imagine RM's. The part where he met Mr. Sakamoto made me very emotional, especially when Yoongi spoke about wanting him to be healthy for a long time. Since, sadly, Mr. Sakamoto Ryuichi passed away shortly after this was filmed I think. May he rest peacefully 💜💜💜 On a less sad note I agree with other Army's in the comments to react to the final D-day concert! 💜

Moon

Ooh finally, I’m so happy and proud that Yoongi is my bias! I’m very excited for you to watch this too!

Mikki

He was also on stage with Suga during the final few days of the D-Day Tour concerts.

Vivi Wu

Jang Yijeong (who appears in the documentary), is Suga's long-time close friend and in-house producer at HYBE. He used to be an idol under the name J.pearl in the kpop group History. As a producer, he now goes by the name EL CAPITXN.

Vivi Wu

I'm so exciteeeeed!

Daniela Miño

Yeah they were just melting cheese. Idk it’s something Koreans like lol. Every time I go to my k-bbq spot the owner just puts a little dish of cheese on the grill like they did in this doc. Bulgogi is my ABSOLUTE favorite tho. That and galbi (but galbi is expensive). I eat both every time I go to k-bbq.

Ahjusshi_Brown

I'm just starting the video so I'm sorry if you mention it already on it but pls also react to jimins documentary! "Jimins production diary"

bbjminie

It says "Rest in Peace" at the end because the elderly pianist he met with passed away.

Seneca

If you guys watch the D-DAY concert(it’s amazing btw) I suggest watching suchwita ep27 with one of Yoongis best friend and someone who is very important to his music career. Also a very wholesome episode.

mirino

Yeeees 😭😭😭😭

Rinakin

So glad you saw this! Mr Sakamoto passed away shortly after their meeting, before the album was released. The meeting makes me emotional every time, he seemed like an incredible person. I’m very happy for yoongi that they managed to meet at least once. Anderson Paak has a Korean grandmother and a Korean wife, so he knows a little bit about the language - it was really sweet seeing him say “baby” and “i love you” in Korean!

CC

Please react to D-Day the final show... Two Words, "TEARS & Proud"... I'm so proud to be an Army and Suga biased!!!

jennel samuels

i agree ;/ + its not like these docus are cheaper on weverse or something... id say that they're really pricey, especially when you compare it to a price of disney+ membership (or other streaming service), where you get access to few bts' projects at once. i expect even more from weverse but well.. i just hope that they'll include lyrics in the future

morela

Yeah that frustrates me too, and it doesn't matter that I've read the lyrics multiple times already. Like the Live clips are placed so intentionally... He'd question and talk about a topic, it'd show some of his process and it'd cut to the Live clip that's relevant to what we just saw him talk about. It'd be nice to read along the lyrics to see where all that pondering ended up taking him lyrically, especially for watchers that haven't read the lyrics or maybe need a reminder :/

tannie misser

oooo I hope it will it be jimins documentary next week

kookmineve

Ryuchi Sakamoto passed away a month before Snooze and this documentary and the album came out so thats who the message at the end was for

kookmineve

Thanks for another fun reaction! It's been great revisiting these documentaries with you. Ironically, since they're more recent, I haven't rewatched them in a while, lol. Just some additional points since you've actually watched In the Soop: - During Season 1, Suga was in the campervan working on 4 songs, I believe. One was Haegum, which he'd started working on right after he finished Daechwita from D-2. Then there were two songs that he pitched to be included on BE, the group album they were creating to chronicle the pandemic in 2020. Telepathy, which he'd composed years before and was refreshing for BE, actually made it onto the album. The other track was not chosen for Life Goes On (it was the runner up), but he loved it so much that he eventually used it for his own version of the song and included it on D-Day. Lastly, there was Amygdala, which they showed him playing for Jimin here. [In case you weren't aware, Jimin was the project manager for BE, hence his appearance in the work session.] You may recall that he was also reading the novel Almond, which he'd gotten from RM during their stay. - Yes, the company still owns the compound that they used for Season 2. It's sometimes open for tours and such. I was quite surprised to see it pop up in the documentary, but it makes sense that they would also use it for the occasional retreat as well. Forgive me if I missed you mentioning it, but do y'all plan on watching RM's magazine film for Indigo? It's often left off of the documentary list, but that's basically what it is--just free content on YouTube instead of paid content on other platforms, lol. It runs about 40 minutes and goes through each track on the album, giving backstory and including interviews with his various collaborators. Here's the link if you're interested: https://youtu.be/lRy8OYhLO-A?si=DUZnqM_iTW0IPEBo

Keisha L

Also you guys should really react to the members' previous mixtapes! I think you'd really enjoy seeing how they've grown over the years and how much their musical styles change from project to project. The song ''People'' which you also talked about, is from Yoongi's previous mixtape D-2 and the entire bridge from ''Snooze'' is directly from ''So Far Away'' which is a song from his first mixtape. Speaking of which, I just think it's so admirable how Yoongi took a piece of such a personal, heavy track and make it a part of Snooze, a song purely meant to console and give strength to others. It's just amazing how he started the trilogy with songs rooted in deep (justified) anger and frustration and then ended it seven years later with comforting, uplifting songs. Like wow, what an embodiment of growth. So proud of him 🥹

tannie misser

im gonna add this two videos that would be nice addition to the final concert: - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2mcJHyjijk&pp=ygUadG9ueSBtb250YW5hIGFndXN0IGQgamltaW4%3D - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dA7zPyJAyRg they're perfomances with Jimin and Jungkook, that took place during different dates

morela

i hope that they'll react to suchwita with him after watching the concert (if Wes or Steph is reading this - its the last episode) :<

morela

idk why weverse doent include lyrics translations in these docs, its such a shame, because they were included on disney+. i get that they were made by different teams of translators, but still. its such a disservice to bts' craft. okay, got it off my chest, i can go back to watching :>

morela

i second this wholeheardly. the person who translated the lyrics did a really good job and it really makes the whole concert even more amazing (especially the most emotional parts that just hit even harder thanks to the translations)

imnotgenius

I hope you wach the full live concert or the D-Day movie. 🙏

Savvh

You might be recognizing the song Ryuichi Sakamoto played from a movie called Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence. The piece he played goes by the same name!

tannie misser

Since you guys mentioned the concert, I’ll leave a link to the final concert in Seoul here: https://vimeo.com/852687229/bd49cdeed1 This one also has the subtitles for the lyrics to each song as well

KK

Pleaseeee react to the D-day concert AND suchwita ep 27 (with one of Suga's best friends) because has a lot of informations about the tour, the album and, of course, the friendship between Yoongi and Jang Yi-jeong, witch is very very beautiful! Link Suchwita: https://youtu.be/GkCCWRtPsvQ?si=Ik75WEnrqHATQe4o Love youuu 💜

Raíssa Tonin

I hope y'all watch the final concert of D-Day soon!!! And with the lyrics 🥹

Ale

The song he played on the piano is called Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence and its beautiful through and through 😭💜

Ghosting👻

Can someone explain to them Jang Yi Jeong’s role? I know it but I didn’t want them to miss that information and I don’t have the word for the explanation 💜

Ghosting👻

Thank you for this reaction!! And I hope you guys to watch BTS GAYO someday😁 It's a similar show to RUN BTS, and you can see bts members play games with kpop. There are only 15 episodes, 10 minutes per episode, so you can watch them all in a day or two!🔥

Gia

RIP Ryuichi Sakamoto:( May he keep on creating even in death

Michella Lu

Me too 💜 i am so happy every saturday!! Chilean army from here 🫶🏻

jozz muñoz

i don’t think bts were worried about someone going off and wanting to only do solo work after getting a taste of that. from what they’ve said, burnout in general was the main concern, so someone wanting to stop doing bts and all activities period was more likely. their bond is too strong for someone to wanna give up bts for a solo career. they’ve ALWAYS made that clear, no matter how hard being in bts is, it’s worth more than only having a solo career. this is just a vacation to get back home, as namjoon has said. it’s a way for them to gain inspiration and understanding in what else they could do or talk abt as bts.

junie

Also I teared up at the ryuichi sakamoto part, sadly he did pass away not long after working with yoongi so it's incredibly emotional to see that entire section

Gurocandii

I agree heavily with the comments, please react to the d-day concert, specifically the final day/final show,, there were many amazing moments at different shows so I wish there a way you could react to them all lol but if you had to choose one I'd defo vouch for the final one!

Gurocandii

I’m about to watch this yet but I hope you watch D-Day concert too! D-Day the final (last day) was the best but the most emotional one. He also had some members watch his concert and perform as special guests. I’m so thankful Yoongi did that tour. It was my first ever BTS concert. I’m happy I saw atleast 1/7 in person. I will really fight for concert tickets once they all come back 🥲💜

Kat

Great idea! Yoongi's ability to create such diverse music from all kinds of artists is truly outstanding! I think Wes and Steph would be pleasantly surprised. And they would get introduced to amazing female korean artists like Heize and Lee Sora

sugaisagenius

SUGA - Agust D Tour 'D-DAY' The Movie, was released early this month. Alternatively, several of his concerts were live-streamed and recorded, including the ones in Seoul. Here's a tweet with a link to the recording: https://x.com/yuesujim/status/1673091990899294209

Vivi Wu

fun fact: Halsey and Suga had been friends for a very long time, approximately since 2016

morela

If you guys are interested in the concert, you should check out the Agust D Tour d-day the final concert with English subs

tsewang

The rest in peace was for Ryuchi Sakamoto. He sadly died before this. In fact working with Yoongi for Snooze was one of his last works... He was very ill when Yoongi visited him :(

AnnaAfc

If you guys are interested in Chinese culture/scenery, I would suggest watching "The Untamed". It's a fantasy historical drama, with lots of action and mystery.

Vivi Wu

I hope you don't ever stop reacting to BTS, (in the near future at least), you guys are my happy place. Thank you for this reaction.

theeternal_pessimist

Oh yesss great suggestion

Rachel Mint Suga

This reaction made me think of a suggestion for you guys: you guys reacting to all the songs Yoongi has produced for other artists. It’s not a lot of songs but he’s so good at tailoring his production to the styles of the artists and I think you guys would really enjoy getting to see how that work differs from the work he creates for himself 💜
