Re:Zero Episode 6

Even when west is using the japanese pronunciation he still says it wrong sometimes lol, remO and ramA 😂 iam sorry it just seemed funny to me

C. Brown

I think its more like, if I told you my name (and then showed you its spelling) but have a thick accent or bad lisp, and you start calling me my name with that accent or lisp it can come off as rude or mocking or at the very least sound silly and not what I intended. That seems to be more the case in some of these anime or manga, where the author intends a certain name because they like it or want it in their world, but due to their language, the VAs for the anime cant actually pronounce it the way it was meant in world. So that is why you could be wrong for pronouncing a name the exact way the person said it.

Umbra_Nex

No one seems to have actually explained this well, so I will keep it short. Japanese don't have "m" they speak in syllabus, they have "mu" or "ma" or even "me" Madam would become "ma" "da" "mu" = Madamu Rem = Remu or "re" "mu" You get the point hopefully, basically they're called Rem and Ram.

MASUCAULNE

Honestly it just sounds like cute pet names imo

Bocchi In Shadow

Why do you think at times the Japanese say "Reme" or "Remu", it's inconsistent, and the vowel added is whatever feels right to them in the moment. For example, I had an Arab friend called "Sarah" but the R was meant to be rolled. She just let me call her Sarah as in the English pronunciation.

Addstir

Do you say Chan after Emilia’s name? No you just call her Emilia so they are also just Rem and Ram

Chideraa Udegbulem

lol

mark9jr

if you told me your name and i pronounced it the exact same way, why am i wrong?

Kai Kage

Others have pointed this out and I hate to be a broken record, but please say Rem and Ram, Japanese words all end in vowels, except for the letter "N". That's why for names, places etc they add a vowel on accident(?) to have it flow better for them. England would become "Englando/u". Loving the reactions, everything except "Remu and Ramu" LOL Love y'all

Addstir

🤣🤣🤣 "Rem-eh?" Yes lol that's absolutely it

Chels

At this point i think they are trolling us; that or they became Canadian and add an -eh at the end of Rem and Ram.

Random

... And they lived happily ever after! :)

Westerschwelle

And Emilia, Megumin (Konosuba) and Ai (Oshi no Ko) is the same voice !

Nekoda

Please just say rem & ram lmao

DcT

Oh and my comment for the show; I totally didn't notice it looks like Roswaal holding Ram! Oh and ya, definitely NOT a father daughter relationship 🤣 I'd be a little concerned if she were saying "my body is yours" to her father figure lmao and yes! Finally got passed the date question! Imagine he completely forgot to say anything after all that and never got his question out? Oh and I think that's the most tragic part of this story, is that sure he comes back if he dies, but he loses those connections he made and can't recreate them. Like some of his really important bonding moments with Emilia are lost in the first timeline, so to her, he's just a weirdo stalking and helping her for no reason, and he forgets that he needs to rebuild their connection to him. He became really close with Ram in the others and now that's gone forever.

Chels

Lol ok, I explained it before but here's the simpler version just in case. You are saying Reme ラメ and Rame ラメ but their names are like Remu レム and Ramu ラム BUT if you're meant to say it with the U at the end, it would be written in hiragana れむ and らむ. But their names are written in katakana which is reserved for foreign words, (レム ラム) meaning you're meant to pronounce it without the U at the end. It's meant to be read as only Rem and Ram (as in Rom) the only reason you hear the U at the end is because it's impossible for Japanese people to pronounce M without it coming out as "Mu" 😅 an easy tip is that when you're reading Japanese or Korean names, yes listen to how they're saying it. But if you're reading Western names, then think about the fact that both Japanese and Korean speak with their c+v pairs (Ma Me Mi Mo Mu and like Su-te-ji instead of Stage or Ke-ki instead of cake)

arc 3 starting next ep

dubcow125

Rem, Ram. Not Reme, Remu, Rema, Ramey Rame, Ramey. Just Rem. Ram. They say RemU and RamU because it's written in Katakana, which is made up of letters pronounced as, ma, me, mi, mo, and of course, mu. "m" on its own is not a letter. So Rem becomes Remu in katakana (it's the alphabet used for foreign words they adopt, like Raito ra-i-to (light), and then Rem is not a Japanese name, so it becomes Re-mu (Rem). M on its own is not a letter in Japanese, but "I" is, as well a few others, in case you were wondering why the "M" in Rem is not allowed to just be Rem, but Re-mu, but the "I" in Raito is allowed to just be Ra-i-to. So that's why. It looks like this "い", as where if you try to just type an "M" it just becomes a roman M until you add a, i, e, u, o, and then it becomes マ,ミ,メ,ム,モ respectively. You might recognize "ム" in "レム" (Remu) from this episode's title. I don't know if I explained well, but... Basically in English Rem and Ram are just pronounced like that, Rem, Ram. Nothing more at the end. I mean, it really doesn't matter, but I just thought I'd try to explain for future reference.

Iriza

You gotta please stop trying to add some weird bad Japanese accent to their names and just call them rem and ram.

Btw there's an ova that slots in between this episode and episode 7, you don't miss any important plot points by not watching it, it's purpose is to ground the characters a bit and it establishes how everyone interacts with each other after the events of this episode

The Egg Unhatching

another superb reaction you two. Can't wait for the next one. 😀

Daniel Huitron

Are you planning on watching the OVAs?

Saul Harrison-coupe

been waiting for this
