2024-12-01 15:53:31 +0000 UTCI think the author really was into John Travolta, given how Subaru cannot stop doing the Travolta disco pose...

2024-08-10 16:42:50 +0000 UTCOne thing you misunderstood in this episode is his 3rd death. The reason they show a flashback after his cheek is cut in Rem's bedroom is because Ram is the one who killed him the 3rd time. Rem says "My sister is far too kind" because Ram ended the interrogation from the bushes/forest feeling sorry for Subaru. The flashback is shown to draw the parallel. I watched Re Zero S1 and 2 4 times before I figured that out, it's not a spoiler or "plot-relevant" really, just a cool tidbit.

2024-08-08 00:54:41 +0000 UTCAnd from this moment onward, when he's shown he is able to kill himself to save others, he became stuck in an eternal trolley problem. Should he have to kill himself If a country is destroyed, a town, a village, a family, a stranger. Should he have to experience the pain of death to prevent the loss of limbs, emotional turmoil or even just to be able to tell what the weather will be to someone he cares about. This question will be further explored in season 2, but it still subtly rears it's ugly head every time something bad happens

2024-08-07 22:08:33 +0000 UTCFor Opening 1, it is safe for you to watch on the next episode. However, there will be a second opening which should be safe to watch on episode 12 of the director’s cut For the EDs, it is safe to watch from the get go

2024-08-07 19:45:31 +0000 UTCRegarding a translation "issue"... A rant about Ogres, Demons and Gods from Subaru's PoV. . . . . The story Subaru told is a japanese folk lore tale. Also the word that got translated to Ogre in it and the word that got translated to Demon (including the 'Demonically Inspired') that made Rem smile that one time is one and the same in japanese: Oni. There is other words that can be translated as Demon, and those would imply different kinds of demons, but in this case Ogre = Demon -> Oni. I think it got separated to make the demonic inspiration vs divine inspiration work a bit better with western audiences, but that is also something that Subaru takes more from japanese folk tales again with Oni (Demon) vs Kami (Gods, the ones that can be both really strong but can also be a very minor god of an object); "Well, gods generally don't do anything, but demons will laugh along when you talk about future plans. Especially for next year and stuff, they'll laugh their heads off." So it is very wrong to take the Christianity approach to what god is and what demons might be when listening to Subaru there.

2024-08-07 19:23:14 +0000 UTCOutro has no spoilers and it's sooo good in that you come to understand the lyrics after the show ends. This is my favorite episode~ But to help you guys, what this episode reveals is that D1: dies from curse because asleep, D2: stayed up so was able to wake up while dying from the curse, but got sliced and crushed. D3: Stayed on the grounds to investigate the whole time as a guest, got hunted and tortured by Rem for the witches smell (keynote: everytime he comes back to life in succession the smell gets stronger) using her mace. He was killed mercifully by slicing wind magic. D4: hid in his room and the library the entire day so Rem dies from the curse, so Ram comes after him with slicing wind magic, but he remembers that they held his hands to comfort him when he was having nightmares on the first day of D4. Some of these subtle details can be easy to miss and then there are some language barrier things that hide other hints, so when he and Rem talked a lot demons and he said he likes them, he said "Oni", a specific type of creature that is also translated at Ogre. The blue and red Ogre story (its a real story and my fav from Japanese lore) that story is about Aka Oni and Ao Oni, red Oni blue Oni, which are known to have horns and be the color of their breed. One type is good with magic and the other type is powerful in strength. Demonically inspired, he is using Oni as well, which is because Oni are raucous, fun loving, passionate heathens essentially, but also outcasts. So Subaru relates closely to Oni, even his face and hair are made to make him like an Oni. I love how this show sneakily intercedes tiny cultural references and also little hints and clues on how to solve not just the current "saves" but future ones as well.

2024-08-07 19:19:44 +0000 UTCJust to clarify, mana siphoning and curses are different. Only Betty and Puck can suck mana but curses can be used by other magicians. Rem and Subaru are suspected of dying from a curse. Also, Subaru IS acting suspiciously. You can sometimes see cuts of Rem shooting glances at him if you pay close attention. He’s acting as if he knows things that he shouldn’t and camping outside Roswaal’s place with a weapon in hand after “leaving”. It seems like if he draws enough attention, Rem decides to kill him. In the loop where he locks himself in his room, he hasn’t acted suspiciously enough for Rem to act and she only viewed him as a pitiful person—more likely perceived as a possible victim of the witch cult than a proponent of it. Also, banger reaction as always. Thanks!

2024-08-07 19:09:14 +0000 UTCRem and Ram behavior and opinion toward subaru depends how subaru interacts with them in one lifetime bcs obv they don't remember what subaru does and their bond/ trust everytime he dies.
