2024-03-14 19:48:07 +0000 UTCIt would've been really unsatisfying to finish the show with "and they still travelled the world" without providing them with a real motivation, especially with how cathartic it is to see them come home. Settling down would've been absolutely okay after everything they went through. And yet... Nina. Nina. In any other show, she would've been a big emotional downer of an episode, remembered by fans but not brought up much in-universe again. But no - Ed and Al will NEVER forget her. When Ed explains his lesson in humility, he brings her up as proof of his real powerlessness. As far as we know, nobody in the show would've been able to help her out, not through alchemy, not through alkahestry, likely not even with a Philosopher's Stone. Searching for knowledge that would prevent and/or fix tragedies like hers is by far the best new motivation to give the heroes.
