On one hand, I agree. But on the other, I still didn't like him from the first episode. His character has always been the making of a tyrant or villain type. And he still made the choices he did. He believed his choices were correct. It's an entirely different story if he felt like he was a puppet to fight and disagreed with the way it goes, but the fact that he thinks he's doing the best thing is a problem. That is a Hitler problem. He also started out as a likeable guy who saved many lives, stopped the German depression, wanted to bring an end to all things cruel, but his mind got so twisted up, he believed he HAD to kill so many people and experiment on so many people for the greater good. To bring the world to peace where there would be no war. I think the story draws a strong parallel with that way of thinking, but you can see that the people that matter completely disagrees with him and view him as a monster by the latest episodes. So that's my take on the "growth" of Eren. He was a brat to begin with and a threat by the end. The only one who kept me watching the show was Armen then Levi because they are truly great characters that, even though they end up in hard situations, they don't lose that humanity in them. Mikasa.. I have qualms with her, but she is badass lol

2024-04-01 23:53:46 +0000 UTCspoilers for everything AoT, do not read if you haven't finished: - - - - - I'm still very much of the opinion eren had no free will; he was trapped in a bootstrap paradox and was just a slave to fate. There are examples where he tried to go against fate, but the outcome still became what he saw in the future memories. I think this is why Eren became more and more apathetic, must be soul-crushing to know that no matter what you do, you're still endlessly barreling towards unavoidable doom. I don't think there is free will in the AoT universe (or at least not up to the point the titan powers were destroyed), but eren and ymir were the only ones who didn't even have the illusion of free will. - - - -

2024-02-16 00:15:53 +0000 UTCDoes Zeke’s plan matter though? You said Eren is assuming what Zeke’s plan is without knowing but Eren could just do his plan right? Like he’s the founding titan not Zeke. So he decides how his power is to be used presumably. I dunno—it definitely looks to me like Eren has a plan. Y’all are giving me such a rough time this week lol 😭 both Oikawa and Eren are taking hits 😔
