CA House Continued (Jerry made a thing!)
Added 2022-02-26 22:22:01 +0000 UTCJerry actually did a house thing, but he doesn't own the app (or whatever he used) so I took a photo of his device. I kinda want to buy the thing to get a proper image of this. But, here it is for now. I'll add a few more photos as well.
We were supposed to move in to that house in late September of 2007. There was so much garbage when we arrived, there was literally nowhere to put any of our things. Every single room was a disaster. There were no window coverings on any of the windows. The sinks were all clogged (and the bathtub/shower). The garage was filled with garbage (including many couches and other pieces of furniture). The backyard had more beer bottles than a liquor store. So, we didn't end up moving in until November. Thankfully our leasing lady at the apartment liked us. We were the only people that didn't cause her trouble, as she liked to tell us. So, we were able to stay an extra two months. (Not free, of course, that was another $4,000 or so). And those girls who trashed the house got their full deposit back.
Our landlord loved us and wanted us to sign a 10 year lease when we told him we were leaving. He was not happy to hear that. We treated that house like our own and made so many improvements. We got charged $500 when we left for cleaning, and he charged us for each extra day we stayed. That's pretty messed up. I will say, the rent was always reasonable though. No idea why he didn't ask for more. Even when we left, he was still asking $1,000 less than anywhere else in that area, and when we left, he actually did fix the place up. He poisoned all of our flowers and returned the yard to brown, the way we found it. That was sad to see.
