Hey guys,
We still get asked about the book, people wanting to buy one. How many people would actually buy it? The cost seems like the first obstacle. The copy I printed for me... this was about 8 - 10 years ago already, so a little fuzzy, but I remember it being a few hundred dollars. That's w/o any markup, of course.
The book as is I couldn't sell. I'd have to do it again and change some things. So, it'd be a project. I'm not against it, but, gotta figure some things out. Is there a way to get the cost down if I'm printing a bunch of them? Obviously other people do it all the time... but, I've never tried to mass produce a book before. They're my photos, but Power Rangers isn't my IP. What's the legal deal with that? Maybe if presented as my unofficial diary, it's cool? Or is it something I'd have to clear with Hasbro? If I need a lawyer, that's probably the end of that.
I'm in a lot of the photos. Is that a plus? Minus? What are people wanting in/from a BTS book like that?
We tried to sell prints of the cover at PMC (and other BTS photos) and we came home with nearly all of them. They weren't of much interest. That added to my assumption that the cost would be a major deal-breaker. Some of that book is also other photos from MMPRtoys, PMC, and other Power Ranger related things, but not from the set. They charge by the page, so, removing those pages would help a little. Or do people like that sort of thing?
Lots to figure out with that. So far people have actually unsubscribed from the last two recent YouTube videos that had behind the scenes photos/video. I guess some people find it offensive? I guess you'll let me know in the comments. If we sold more than two books I'd honestly be surprised, but, I'm not against making something if there's a demand, and it's something I can sell w/o getting into trouble.
