Old NYC Apartment
Added 2022-04-09 23:11:45 +0000 UTCAh, this photo takes me back. Our first apartment. Following graduation, we all thought it would be fun to live together. We found this (very affordable) place in the village which was above a cute coffee shop, where we spent WAY too much time...
Jerry and Julie were living together, and that wasn't working. Cory was living in Brooklyn with his girlfriend who left him, and he ended up moving in with Jerry when Julie left. Julie was driving a cab for a while (but somehow lost the job due to using language New Yorkers found "shocking and offensive").
Jerry was trying to get an animation job but working at SEARS while he sent his demo reel around. Cory was trying to sell his horror film scripts. He always had producers who were "very interested" but nothing ever went anywhere. (SEARS didn't pay Cory's rent too though...)
Mia and I lived across the hall from Jerry and Cory with my (now ex) girlfriend, Monica, who was working for a magazine in Manhattan.
Cory was driving Jerry nuts and always late with the rent. Monica and Mia initially got along, but Monica thought Mia and I were spending too much time together (running a small video company). Her constant jealousy eventually resulted in us going on a break.
Mia and I ended up moving to California. Cory met another crazy girl and they got a place in Manhattan. Julie moved closer to Coney Island, and Jerry also stayed in NY for a while, but joined us in CA a few years later and worked with us for a while before getting his own job.
I think those are real memories... I'm not confusing this with an old TV show am I?
(Most of that is actually true either way, hehe)
