Hey guys! So I recently was contacted by the team at Lovense to create some comics about their toys. I don’t usually do collabs with businesses but I’ve been a customer of theirs and have had a lot of questions asking about my process and working with brands before.
So with that in mind I thought it would be interesting to share a preview of the three comics I am working on right now and talking about finding a balance between a genuine comic/punchline while giving brand awareness. (Because no one likes ads anyways )
What you see in red are changes/additions asked by the team. The comic of Hubs and Gary, I think actually enhances the story and have no notes.
The other two I don’t disagree with but I’m still toying with the dialogue to sound more natural. I think the punchlines work, but I (Dot) doesn’t speak like that.
On the rare occasion I do collabs with businesses I make them aware that they will get more attention if we keep the comic simple and funny. If it looks like an ad, it will get scrolled past. If they like the comic, they will look at the description for detail and there I have no problem holding back.
These comics will be out in the next few weeks so keep an eye out!
And btw- Lovense didn’t ask me to post here, this is all me. I do genuinely like their toys ( I own a lush and Nora already). I wouldn’t waste my time hyping up something I wouldn’t recommend to a friend.
