Extra Holidays Now Available
Added 2023-06-18 13:02:12 +0000 UTCI was able to solve the problems mentioned in this post, and have published the fixes as a standalone mod called Custom Holiday Utility. I made this a standalone mod so that it can be used on other default holiday mods as well, even if they do not use CHU's method of adding holidays to the calendar.
Downloading Extra Holidays
Everyone can now download Extra Holidays for free, and it even includes a new Summer holiday: Simdependence Day. All 3 holidays are optional, and you just have to download the ones that you want.
Extra Holidays is dependent on Custom Holiday Utility. If you do not install it, none of my holidays will work.
What does CHU do?
Modded holidays do not appear in existing saves, and can permanently cause errors when uninstalled. CHU solves these issues, and also provides a way for modders to easily and safely add holidays without overriding any files.
Adding holidays to existing saves
Retroactively adding holidays is not automatic, because if it were, you wouldn't be able to delete any holidays. Instead, if you would like to add holidays to an existing save, you can run the cheat "chu.add_missing_holidays". It will tell you exactly which holidays were added when, and whether any couldn't be added.
Holidays will fail to add if that day of that season is already taken by another holiday. This can happen if you have other custom holidays installed, or if you've created holidays of your own in-game. You can delete the other holidays from the calendar, and then run the command again.
