A little out of the box but Iβd love to hear Dr Johnβs insights as to why so many women are drawn to true crime. Why are more women fascinated by true crime than men? My husband often tells people my hobbies include running, reading, crafts and murder ππ. My fascination is with the psychology behind why people do what they do (part of the reason that I love HTC so much) as well as the investigation process and the justice system (another reason I love HTC so much). But Iβd love to understand why so many of us are so drawn to it.

I think we are all asked to disassociate from ourselves in the corporate landscape, and see cult-like conditioning in some work environments. A little further into the subject of disassociation, I'd also like to know Dr. John's opinion on DID. A reputable podcast did a story on a young woman suffering the disorder, but I've honestly been very skeptical of the condition after reading more deeply into the most famous cases.

2025-01-29 18:02:05 +0000 UTCIβm from Ohio and followed the Pike County murders of 8 Rhodes family members by the Wagner family in a custody battle case. So many twists and turns. The murdering family leaves the state for a year and then they come back. I would love yβallβs take on this case. Why would they come back, why wouldnβt one of the four family members say NO! We are not murdering all these people. I donβt get it. They still have one trial to go.

I feel like there is a great deal of behavior that could be perceived as arising from scrupulosity in the Vallow-Daybell and Ruby/Jodi crimes. Arguably the whole Mormon prepper movement and some of the more fundamentalist evangelical movements as well. Would also love Dr Johnβs thoughts on the so called dark triad.

I know flat affect is a characteristic they both share. For example, Elon musk. My understanding is that he is not diagnosed with autism, but many speculate he is. But couldn't be that he is a sociopath? One of my children is autistic and she is so kind and loving.

2025-01-28 23:02:50 +0000 UTCI followed your coverage on the UHC CEO assassin. I wonder about reading the circumstance as entirely about his internal psychology. I grew up in the south for example and I think you can clearly see the effect of centuries of cognitive dissonance and rationalization of the obviously awful. The southern society was sick and it manifested in ways in its people. People in my family (we are descendants of enslavers) still struggle to absorb (sometimes even seeming to have their memory wiped out) uncomfortable or unflattering news. I think today we all know that letting someone die or be permanently in debt or forced into homelessness for healthcare is a moral stain.

2025-01-28 23:00:26 +0000 UTCOur culture has changed since I was a child, I never had to worry about going to school and getting shot. That seems unimaginable to me to have our kids bare this burden. I am thinking about how kids use power or feel like they have to use power to bully other kids. I know there is a power imbalance for kids vs. parents, but is there anything we can teach to have children use power in a more healthy way? Maybe the parents of bully's abuse their privelege of power over their children? I have been thinking about this quite a bit, as I want to identify the antecedents to mass shootings.

He is really interesting to me because he's the same age as me and I think I would have probably have liked him as a person - not his murderous side, but the side he showed everyone. Another case I would like his thoughts on is Kathleen Peterson / Michael Peterson. I found Michael Peterson really likeable, but my conscious mind knows that he can still be guilty.

I do have a question but Iβm still formulating it in my mind but itβs around what, if anything, Dr John has to do or put in place professionally before or after he interviews people such as Stacey Wondra who later become suspects? Also, have there been circumstances that you have interviewed people with the intention of broadcasting and opted not to broadcast, even behind a paywall? Do interviewees change their minds mid-interview and ask not to proceed?

So I am now trusting in my Creator next time I want to come back as a better person, than the one I let go of the old ideas, self will run riot. πββοΈ peace, in no hurry. I first started watching you during the pandemic trying to understand the Daybell case. Sometimes while on YouTube I will see "members only" video and I can't get on. Is this a different membership? Am I doing something wrong? I love your content so much I just want to watch it all. I am an "older" gem so I am always suspect of my tech knowledge. You guys are the best!! And please don't worry about your Patreon members if you get busy. I don't support you for the Patreon stuff (although I love it) I support you so you can have your main channel. And as an older parent myself (my daughter is 14) you are in the cupcakes years. Ignore us before your son. The cupcake years go by very quickly. There are many good crime channels but you are above everyone else.

All the good LDS leaders I know, donβt want the positions they serve in, they are people trying to serve the Lord and they lead with love. There are exceptions to these good people. Iβm always interested in polygamy. Is it more out of lust on the manβs part. I continually encounter people on a monthly basis, who are still being raised in this polygamous life.

How do we prevent these children from falling through the cracks? I think our society needs to focus on red flag behaviors, responsible reporting, intervention, mental health education and early childhood development!

He displays behaviors similar to narcissistic personality disorder when he is confronted with something he doesn't like. He is really spinning after starting therapy and relating the depths of the abuse to me. It's like he got worse after starting therapy. Can you discuss the intersection of abuse and NPD/BPD and how a spouse can help. We have been married 23 years and I feel alone and misunderstood.
