You guys are hilarious here😂💙

Avin

You two are so funny! My husband Mark says that I torture him by requesting him to watch true crime documentary's with me!

Bonnie Schoeneman-Dilley

Fascinating review & discussion. I followed this case as it unfolded & know the crazy details pretty well, so wasn't going to watch the Netflix doc, but maybe I will watch it, with all the rave reviews. I love listening to both of you - the perfect yin/yang combination! The d pic story was hilarious, omg Lauren, you sent it to his family!! LOL! Fierce! Dr John's laughter is gold!

ApotheKaren

You are both so funny and nice and clever.

Omgosh 🤣Great work Lauren! You go girl ❣️

I am going to watch Netflix right after I listen to this. I did read their book Victim A. I could not put it down.

IslandGirl

As soon as you said spoiler I went right to Netflix to watch. It was a very disturbing event not only bc of what happened to them but the fact that police/fbi wouldn't accept the facts and believe, them is a nightmare. Who can we trust..if not those that have pledged to protect us then who? They should have received much more than 2.5 million thats small change for a life of PTSD. On a humorous note I just love how John laughs @33:00 and then comments that the grandparents/sister should "dress" the issue now that was funny!! So I suppose John could have said address the issue but I heard dress 😂🤣. Thanks Lauren & John.

The d pic story reminded me of another tattooed guy case…Has there been any resolution to the Barsotti case? I was truly frightened for you, Lauren. Your source was pretty scary.

Debi

Wow. Watched AN last night. Rather intriguing. Glad that lady cop took it all the way to get a conviction. Also thanks for sharing your thoughts on Colby’s interview with his mum. That was shocking. I wish my best for Colby and his family as they move forward. He must wonder if he ever knew his mother. How manipulative to say she has met the granddaughter. She has lost every right to be a mother or a grandmother in my book.

JenAus

Yes! We want to cover it

Lauren and John Matthias

Definitely one of the most intriguing true crime documentaries I’ve ever seen!! I highly recommend

The Knoxville Agent

Is there any more information out there about this case? A couple of loose ends were the FBI agent who had dated Aaron's ex-girlfriend, and the perpetrator saying that this was meant for her. Also, who was it that showed up at the perpetrators place while Denise was being held? Seems like there's more here to find.

Amee L.

I loved how John was laughing at Lauren’s receipt of a d pic…. That’s a secure husband right there 😅🤣

Anabel Garner

Menendez would be another case where heuristics come into play for sure, for law enforcement and general public and also media. Didn’t y’all say you were going to cover that case at some point?

Anabel Garner

Great episode. This story is so twisty and strange on every level. Reminds me of the situation with Brittany Hibdon’s unexplained death - so many unanswered questions and “dark” psychology group behind it all.

Katrina

Wow, that was a terrifying documentary. That couple went through so much at the hands of law enforcement. Thank goodness for the officer that kept digging. I pray this couple and their families are healing. Thank you John and Lauren for another informative piece. Truly appreciate you both.

Cotton~Carolyn

Insightful, intriguing, and I’ll be watching asap. You two had me 🤣😂 at different times. Dr. John I can honestly say, I would have never thought a flasher was thinking I admired him. 😲😳 I definitely learned some new information I’ll tuck away for future reference if ever a talking point.

Terrie

I laughed too. Bit like “Melbn” and “Melbooooorrrrne” in Australia lol

JenAus

Thanks so much Terrie. Hope you are well and enjoying your day. I’ve not got long til I finish work so I’m looking forward to my HTC fix 👍❤️😃

JenAus

Good Morning JenAus I share your sentiments exactly. I look forward to viewing the film. I hope you don’t work too hard. Best regards.✨

Terrie

Hello Bonnie I opened up this podcast and read all the comments first. Once I listened to the breakdown, John and Lauren literally had me laughing 🤣 in spots. Your comment is spot on. 💎

Terrie

Thank you for the Boi-cee! Drives me crazy when people say zee 🤪

Kim H.

You to are so much fun!

Bonnie Schoeneman-Dilley

We have a Boise here in Oklahoma. It is pronounced boys. I know this because of the two Kansas Moms murdered at pickup for supervised visitation with one of their children, Veronica Butler and Jiilian Kelley.

Kat Willhite

Thanks for this. AN has been showing up in my Netflix recommendations for ages. Will watch. Don’t care about the spoilers - will always enjoy your perspectives. Thanks for another serve of HTC - was at work and my phone was going off its head with Patreon notifications 😃 so I’ll listen to part now and the rest after work.

JenAus

can't wait to see the documentary re: Jodi H

Netflix: American Nightmare!

Lauren and John Matthias

Oh goody. I have to listen when I get home. I hate the word “empaths” though. But I dunno what context this is- but I never trust anyone who calls themselves an empath- It’s normal for a human to have empathy. I know some super humans who have extra empathy- my daughter is one of them- but wouldn’t ever ever call herself an empath as she just thinks it normal to feel and care etc She got it from my mum ( it’s skipped a generation ;-) ) Do I need to watch something on Netflix before I listen to this ?

Tad Auty

I watched it a few months ago.

Eileen Park

I watched this Netflix documentary awhile back and it blew me away.

Marcella Able

Sounds like Brian Kohberger. I think he watched one or two of the girls. It is like in the silence of the lambs. That guy went after what he saw and the fbi says they covet. Haven’t seen the Netflix but this sounds familiar. If they are rejected they go from peeping to kidnapping, rape and murder? I don’t think they have empathy though. Frame and spin yep! Will watch the Netflix when I can. Colby/Lori blew my mind! Lori is beyond, beyond ! I cannot believe she is blaming Tylee! My heart goes out to Colby! Delphi is another one that needs justice for the victims and their families. Hope your work on Jody and Ruby gets to fruition. Thanks for including us gems! Love these chats, miss the lives!

Kay Louise

I enjoy hearing your candid, impromptu discussions! Thank you 💙

Kacy Cat Artist

OMG I can't wait to hear your report on Colby's interview.

IslandGirl

So many questions. The way they were treated was heartbreaking.

IslandGirl

You both are so…great! Just starting to listen!

Debe Hale

I love these impromptu convos we get to hear here… feels like I’m chillin in your living room with you guys listening to you, Lauren, pick John’s brain, while I work… could listen to you guys all day:) Your Boise/Boy-zee comment had me cracking up! 😆 reminded me of my bff, she used to tease me for pronouncing exit like egzit lol. Anyway;) SO much love and respect for you guys!! Thanks so much for letting us in on these.. I learn so much! 🫶🏼
