That was astounding, Jodi uttering bizarre promises of no illness. She did not sound stable, or very convincing for that matter. She did sound dangerous.

2024-03-30 21:29:43 +0000 UTCOne of the many terrifying aspects to this case is that either this is a school of thought, or this was almost a school of thought. If Ruby and Jodi had had their way, it would have been. I view this at the very least as a near miss, for many other people to have embraced these beliefs. I would describe their view of raising children as basically full-time 24/7 exorcism. Children that live like this, parents who think that their children are just constantly evil, discipline becomes exorcism. People die being exorcised, children die being exorcised. Literally. This is terrifying. I love you both for all you do ❤️

It's where I first heard about the case, and they do a wonderful job of sharing concerns about the kids. It's in their Parasocial Exploration episodes in 2022, before the kids ever left the Franke house hold. (Episodes 56 - 62)

2024-03-26 18:17:27 +0000 UTC??? as someone who’s been following these cases with you from the beginning, I must say the most striking thing to me is that even when those involved, or who have been in the circle of these defendants in all these cases—even while they’re admitting they have been terribly “deceived”, or “got it wrong” they STILL don’t question for a second that God is still speaking to them, and that they are still super significant to God. John, Lauren, how is it possible in the human brain to wake up and recognize how faulty your thinking has been without it leading them to questioning themselves every second for the rest of their lives? I would. It just baffles me how quickly they go from “oh, look how deceived I was”, to “and now this is why God wants me in jail and what he said to me this morning” without questioning that? How? How? How?

How does anyone develop so much hate that they spend so much energy coming up with creative torture methods? Is it possible for behavior like this to happen without the presence of a personality disorder or other serious mental health problem? The photos of R’s wrist are going to stick with me for a while.

Which maybe doesn’t seem odd to me as both an ex-mo and as someone who has enough extra of my prescription meds to safely wean myself off them if something were to happen to disrupt my access to a pharmacy 🤷♀️😅

The cognitive dissonance to believe you’re the purest of the pure, that anyone spiritually healthy is free of illness… while being so obviously sick / behaving in very sick ways. (Cuz who knows how much is a show)

2024-03-24 18:57:59 +0000 UTCSome of my thoughts are about how incompetent police officers & detectives seem to be… maybe it’s because we have so much extra knowledge but it seems like they continue to miss a lot of important aspects. Also, from reading Ruby’s notes it felt like to me R wanted the neighbor to bring him to the police to “turn himself in” rather than to be rescued from the abuse. Ruby mentions that R wanted to go to jail/juvie, get relief from her and Jodi, and of course R believed he was evil at the time. It’s so heartbreaking. It also makes me think of JJ & Tylee, I wonder if they were treated in a similar way at all since there is so much overlap in belief here… so sad all around. I wish we had more info on the “pen papers”.

Jodi talking about experiencing dark shadows following her, Jodi coming to live with Kevin and Ruby and how lights flickered, odd noises in the house, her taking over the 2nd floor of the house. Kevin being reduced to a stranger in his own home, Ruby emptied they bank account and the children's I would love to get John's perspective on these things

And the boy asking for two favors, the first being to bring him to the police station because of ‘personal matters’. Then hearing Jodi and Ruby in all the other released videos………. I wanted to rage destroy things in my house. Jodi and Ruby really give Chad and Lori some fierce competition for being the human versions of Garbage Pail Kids.

I was in Al-Anon for four years and my sponsor literally took over my entire life. She was so much like Jodi Hildebrandt. It took me two solid years of therapy to recover from the brainwashing that that organization did to me.

A few questions I have: How did Ruby and Jodi first meet up and develop whatever relationship they had? Was Ruby on the road to severely abusing and torturing her children regardless of whether she forged the relationship with Jodi? What responsibility does Husband Franke bear? I shudder to think of children being in his care again. Finally: Jodi’s practice was endorsed and recommended by bishops and other leaders in the LDS Church? How does this tie into the phenomenon you’ve covered of the dangerous notion of being personally entrusted with revelations and discernment? (Asking as a never-mo).
