BONUS CONTENT - an interview with Mary Tracy

Hello to our Patreon members!

Your support means so much to us, and we wanted to share with you an hour-long unedited interview with a close friend of Alex Cox.  We have other bonus content in the works as well. Your donations keep us going and we want to say thank you by sharing insider content we won't share with our other listeners, and content we'll give you early access to.

If you have any ideas for bonus content, let us know. Currently, our Patreon members are a small group, and we're always happy to hear from you. John and I recently watched the Netflix documentary on Chris Watts  "American Murder" and thought that John sharing his final thoughts on that documentary might also be an episode our Patreon members might like. Thoughts?

Mary Tracy was a close friend of Alex Cox, Lori Vallow Daybell's brother. They did stand-up comedy together, and she even visited Alex in prison after he assaulted Joe Ryan. She considered him the younger brother she never had. At their closest they spoke two to three times a day. Mary met Alex's parents and siblings, and even shares the time she met Lori, as well as Tylee.   Mary agreed to an interview so she could share about the Alex she knew, and give 'Hidden: A True Crime Podcast' information that can help us assess the hidden motives behind this tragic crime.  Mary also speculates and shares who she thinks could have killed JJ and Tylee.   While John and I plan to use some of this interview for our podcasts, we wanted our Patreon members to be able to view the raw hour-long interview. We'd love any thoughts or comments viewers might have. A request to please be respectful to Mary.

We appreciate donations from our listeners. Your donations help us to produce these podcasts.  We have some big plans to explore the true crime terrain in a way that no one else has attempted, including forensic interviews with serial killers in prison, involvement on unsolved cases, psychological deep dives on controversial cases and forensic assessments of the most heinous past crimes. We also plan to offer significant bonus content in the near future as we grow.

I'd guess abandoning his pregnant girlfriend or having sex while married to a 15 year old girl could be a good reason I'm not LDS but generally people don't think highly of those type people.

Lisa Spears

Actually, now that I have read about his extreme sexual sadism ( $250,000 on prostitutes) I am guessing THAT is the reason behind his excommunication?

Holistic Holly

I loved this episode! Alex had at least one truly good person in his life. Interesting to hear her story. I am gonna go out on a limb and state that I don't believe the excommunication was about premarital relations... In fact, from what I am finding, it's actually uncommon to be excommunicated by the LDS church. Would be interesting to find out what that was, exactly..

Holistic Holly

It truly confirms that I believe we have two distinct lives.. The life we “learn” with, and the life we “live” with after that.

Debi Fox

In January 2020, Reverend Donna Seraphina uploaded a video on Youtube. She described in detail what happened to each child. She described the dismemberment and burning of Tylee. She described the color of the bag placed on JJ’s head and the color of the bag encasing the body. She mentioned the duct tape. Based Close to 6 months later the children were found and Donna’s information was validated. Therefore, I believe what Donna saw in her vision. Lori and Alex killed Tylee . Lori and Chad killed JJ. And Chad choreographed the murders including how Tyler’s missing body parts. The case has just captured me. It is just beyond human comprehension. Prayers for the families of Tylee, JJ and Tammy.

Sweet Pea

Mary’s guess that Alex didn’t do the JJ/Tylee killings is very interesting, although I have to remember people saw Lori as super-Mom so perhaps Alex just preferred the innocent, non-judgemental company of children whilst looking like he loved playing with them. Impatient Lori was on an urgent mission (to be with Chad and become exalted) that Alex would not feel, and I think he attempted and succeeded in disposing of men, but not by administering drugs - that seems Lori’s MO. Chris Watts - yes, the book I read did not delve deeply enough; but the delicate fact of Shan’ann being intensively on social media, superspending, herself thinking about divorce, and a devoted mom who is out attending mlm “conferences”. If her personality and motivations are not examined, I really feel we get no where with CW, and that leaves us forever without answers.

It is always interesting to know about people from different perspectives. I think Mary is voicing what many of us can relate to. We see and understand others from our own point of reference and assume our values are the same. I think many of us can think of a time when we didn't pay enough attention to what we were hearing. I can totally relate to Mary and appreciate that she is prepared to talk about her friendship with Alex

Elizabeth Campbell

Thanks for making this available. Super insightful to hear about Alex, and for sure we need to be kind as Mary's perspective is based on her own unique experience and honesty is important. It would be interesting to hear Dr John's opinions about Chris Watts - thats another bizarre and intriguing case, from a psychological standpoint.
