PSA- Server Crash- don't panic

heres the public service announcement about my home server's crash ^^

a few nights ago, my home server, the place i store all my psd files, video files, jpegs, audio packs, and essentially back up all my work once its completed for the past 9 years, suddenly stopped letting me copy files to and from it to my home pc.

i can still see all my files, it just wont let me open anything "due to a disc reading error".

**heavy breathing in panic from mavie **

thankfully my hubby is a computer guru, and will be taking time tonight to look at it, and try to fix the issue. but i thought id let you all know my older work is in a weird limbo right now.

don't panic Mavie!

i still have all my personal Pc's work, my most recent work for the past 4-6 months is still chilling on my pc. and all the patron art is still safe and sound, because i have 3 copies of that folder in 3 different places. so ill still be able to work on all those things this week as usual. ^^

it just means i don't have access to alot of the stuff i usually put into my patron art packs, and cant post any new works across the various websites im on, like fa, sf, weasly, etc.
This months pack was already made, so its nothing to worry about. but things like this months speedpaint, need to be changed. I wanted to put my voice to it and give you a little audio to go along with the video of mavies new reff sheet. but it looks like i have to re-record all that, and i don't think i have the time to do it in T__T so another speedpaint will take its place.

all in all this entire mess has made me panicked, then depressed over the loss of 9 YEARS of saved works!! **slams fits into keyboard**

but im a strong independent furry artist, life must go on regardless of how i feel, so time to rally!

Im gonna be working on getting my things back and then setting up safeguards to trying to prevent this from happening in the future. and shall be pressing on with getting you guys your patron arts ~

I know it can get expensive considering the size of PSDs, but I really recommend https://www.google.com/drive as a backup and auto-sync solution. 1TB is only $10 a month, that's 5,000 PSD files at 200MB each on average (which seems about right for high def PSDs). The only thing I've found that's cheaper is Amazon S3 Glacier at $0.004 / GB, but it's a pain to use. If online storage is not your cup of tea, at least pick up one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Expansion-Portable-External-STEA2000400/dp/B00TKFEE5S/ and copy stuff over from time to time or use windows automatic backup features.
