I've been building on the scene transition system so I can do more than just cut from one scene to another. As you can see, the transitions are just a simple fade to black for now, but this groundwork will allow me to easily add animated transitions to emulate Nier's hacking effects.
The video also shows that I can pass variables to the transition, telling it where to go next! For now, there's just two end states of success/game over, but now I can easily chain this into more scenes that form a proper game!
Some other minor details to point out:
- Added the "core" enemy will acts as the final target to finish hacking
- On player death or success, all projectiles are deleted and enemies stop firing and are frozen in place.
Up next:
- Adding "core" shield that gets removed when no other enemies are left
- Making the core fire in patterns similar to how they do in Nier
