Updated 8/20/25: Updated for compatibility with the latest patch, and changed skin detail slots to be compatible with more overlays. Wrinkles now take up the Forearm Scar slot and gray hairs will take up the Mole (Left Cheek) slot.
Sul-sul! I'm back with another slice of life type mod. This one was so much fun to figure out!

Features:
The Gradual Aging Mod allows your Young Adult and Adult Sims to gradually age from one life stage to another. The in-game Adult and Elder wrinkle overlays will fade in over time, and sims may get periodic buffs - happy or sad - about how their body is changing. There is a purchasable trait in the rewards store ("Ageless") that allows your Sims to be exempt from this aging process. This mod is base game compatible.
There are two optional packages: gray hair and treatments. If you have the optional hair package installed, gray hairs will slowly start to fade in after your Sim becomes an adult. Treatments allow your Sims to fight the aging process by dyeing their hair and getting skincare treatments to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. But watch out - the treatments may not always go as intended...
Requirements:
Gradual Aging is base game compatible, but requires the XML Injector. If you do not already have a copy in your game, you can get it here.

Notes: The wrinkles will not show up in CAS because they are added as hidden buffs to your Sims in game. They still exist in the world and in icons, but they won't appear when designing your Sim. Also, the gray hair package is optional because the hair overlay doesn't mesh well with all hairs. I made it in a way that it will look good (to me) on most maxis hairs, but unfortunately because of the variety in UV mapping, it isn't possible for me to make one overlay that works perfect on every hairstyle. Depending on which hairs you use most often, you can decide whether you want to delete this package or not.

ive been getting an exception for this mod, its been causing me simulation lag unfortunately :( could be related to the new update? most likely anyway lol

2025-01-21 04:07:00 +0000 UTCI love this mod so much but the only thing i have to say is when this applies to my sims from young adult life stage and they age up to an adult, it completely resets the aging process and they look really young again for a while before it gradually starts again.. is there a way to stop this from happening to young adults or not have to completely reset?

I just wanted to post a little bug report here: After extensive testing I found that this mod sometimes causes some skin details to stop appearing in live mode and makes the crafted jewelry from Crystal Creations not function properly anymore (it can't be worn or taken off, only going into CAS will make it visible and makes you able to remove it). These bugs only happen to sims that I have played with a lot and the freckles skin detail not being visible affected only one sim only (I know that's oddly specific.), so it doesn't affect all sims. I love this mod and your work SO much, so if you ever consider taking a look at this, I would highly appreciate it <3

2024-04-08 01:22:55 +0000 UTCThank you so so much for updating the mod! The 50% Elder overlay is working perfectly fine now, same for shaving. The only thing is I think my sim isn't growing a beard anymore. I played him for a whole sim week (facial hair growth activated) and no sign of a beard. I did not do any proper testing this time though, I just continued playing with all my mods. I do like your mod better than the shaving so I could live with it if I had to choose but as shaving is a game feature it would be nice to have both.

I have a question about the buffs: is it possible to cheat them to show up in a sim at a certain %, or at all? I usually play with aging off and age my sims up manually, so it would be awesome if I could add those details to my sims as the seasons go by.

Besides this, the effect of shaving is only visible after reloading the household in case an overlay is applied. It would be great if there was a fix for that.

2023-11-25 03:57:35 +0000 UTCHi, thanks for checking! It does work on cc hair, but the issue is the same, it depends on how the creator did the uv mapping. If the strands go up/down in the uv map it'll look great, if they go right/left it won't look as good. My advice would be to try it and remove if you don't like how it looks (it doesn't cause problems to delete after the overlay has been added, it just disappears).

2023-11-20 14:56:24 +0000 UTCHi! Good question. No, the aging buffs aren't genetic, they get added in a script when the Sim loads into a lot, so it will only ever affect adults who are 50% through their age progression.

I tried the order option as well as clicking on the mirror but didn't find anything related. Should I just use masks from spa day pack (but I suppose not since this mod is bgc)? Any guidance please?

2023-11-20 03:28:19 +0000 UTCHi! Not a weird question at all. This works with all skins! The mod takes the base game skin wrinkle overlays, not the skin itself, and fades them in over time. To my knowledge there are no mods which remove or override the overlays.
