Those of you who are paying attention will notice I try to include some interesting bits of wildlife information here and there. Those of you who aren't paying attention, this might be your wakeup call Xb this came as a shock (at least to my mate), but squirrels, like almost all rodents, are opportunistic omnivores - meaning they will supplement their diet with meat, if they are presented with a chance for it.

Myra: Ah ... well, I can promise you this: you had rotten luck seeing Tobur miss his mark like that. He's actually a very effective predator.

Nele: So I hear.

Myra: I'd tell you to give him another chance to show you how it's done, but I wager you've had enough of his tooth work to last you a while.

Nele: Hmh, yeah, thanks. I'm sorry. This must seem so weird.

I've seen two winters and fall apart watching a fox take a marten, while kits in this forest barely even flinch at the subject.

Myra: Oh you've got a bit of a wrong idea there, luv. We're all plenty afraid of getting chewed up, don't you worry.

But I'll be honest with you, if I had any say in the matter, I would hope it was Tobur who has my neck. I know I can trust him to end it as quickly as he possibly can and make sure I don't go to waste.

Nele: No offense. It's still just alien to me.

Myra: That's fair.

Myra: I suppose I might have a different perspective, seeing as Tobur shares when I have a craving.

Nele: That's nice I gue- wait, WHAT!?

Myra: Well, yes. From time to time. Protection value is not the only comfort I get out of living in Toby's tree, you know.
