JL8 #23 by Yale Stewart

As promised, a second strip this week to make up for my absence last Thursday/Friday.
I'm not really sure where to begin with this one. The lettering is...not great. The perspective in panel one is...oof.
But, the joke is funny, and managed to get a retweet from Scott Snyder, which was huge. Shortly after, JL8 would get a write-up in iO9 and we'd be off to the races.
It's odd. I feel like I never have much to say on the successful strips. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe because the good ones happen so naturally? Like, we all know Batman stands on top of buildings and has internal monologues, often times talking about how Gotham is his city or some such thing, so I thought "let's do that but make it silly" and decided to a) set it on the playground and b) have him standing at the top of the slide while c) the other kids were getting annoyed that he was creating a logjam. Bam, nice and easy and successful.
It's not much, but I hope you enjoyed this little look-back at JL8 #23. We'll get back to once-a-week next week, but I'm hoping to have a few other updates to start posting, including announcing that the Patron packages have all finally shipped out (I've gotten started, but still have probably over half to go! I apologize it's taken so long!).
Have a great weekend everyone!
