Recess. A rather appropriate subject given today is Friday and (hopefully) we're all heading into a free and relaxing weekend. I know I certainly need one.
It's been a little bit, but J'onn finally gets some screen time again. Instead of him being unfamiliar with Earth customs, this time his familiarity leads to "disastrous" results, which I thought was a fun twist.
I'm not 100% sure how I'd change this strip if I were to do it today, but I know that I would. I'd probably enlarge the "tag" panel in some way, to help sell the scope of the chaos, and maybe decrease the final panel into a smaller inset panel in the bottom right corner, making it feel like a comedic button to wrap things up. Long story short, I think it's a fine strip, but I think it could be improved.
I still love the way Bruce is running out of the building all wrapped in his cape. I also like that we see that Clark is totally willing to cut loose and have fun. Clark isn't a stick in the mud, he just draws the line at fun at other peoples' expense. He'll tear up the playground at super speed, for example, but WOULDN'T do it running down Main Street where they might run into people or disrupt storefronts with their wake.
I think that about covers my thoughts on this strip. I hope you found them interesting! I apologize for the shift to Friday for today's commentary, but since I posted the new print yesterday, I didn't want to overload.
Have a great weekend, everyone! I'll talk to you again soon!
