JL8 #14 by Yale Stewart

I love this one.
There's nothing SUPER exceptional about it, I don't think. I just still find it really funny.
I suppose it's worth pointing out that this is the first time Bruce pulls anything out of the utility belt. While it's not an incredibly common occurrence, I like playing around with expectations of it, most notably in...JL8 #138? #140? Somewhere around there. The one with the lightning bugs.
I also like that Clark goes to bat (no pun intended) for Diana. While I enjoy portraying Clark as The Sweet Boy™ in JL8, he's not a pushover, and won't stand by and let people toss accusations at his friends. I think this interaction does a nice job of showing that he's not some milquetoast, one-dimensional Boy Scout that so many people (mistakenly) believe Superman to be.
I don't really have much more to add. I like the dialogue, I think the characterization is really starting to find its way, I think the gag is still a good one. It's an update I'm really happy with. I hope you enjoy it, too!
Until next time!
