Videos for 1st - 7th November
Added 2021-11-01 01:47:15 +0000 UTCIt's going to be a busy month, here's what we're starting off with!
1st: Legion 5i Review
3rd: Acer Helios 300 Game Testing
5th: 12900K vs 5950X
6th: 12600K vs 5600X
The last two might change, I'm still waiting for the DDR5 memory to arrive so haven't done any testing yet and not sure what other comparisons I may do. The 12700K I pre-ordered will probably arrive early the week after.
So far I've re-tested Ryzen 5600X/5800X/5900X/5950X and today I'm starting on some older Intel stuff. Not sure yet as it's a lot of work, but might do a 5 generation comparison in Windows 11 (all are officially supported, but not older):
12700K vs 11700K vs 10700K vs 9700K vs 8700K
12600K vs 11600K vs 10600K vs 9600K vs 8600K
Might just be a bit fun to see how things have changed over time, as I'm guessing based on info we've seen so far that 12th gen might finally break the minor gains trend, but that's yet to be seen of course.
If I do those last two big comparisons they'd be later on. I currently have the 11700K / Z590 setup for testing, so I'll try knock out the 10th and 11th gen chips before the DDR5 arrives. By that time I'll have to swap over to Z690 and start the 12th gen ASAP. Some time after that's all complete I'll go back to an older board and do the 9th/8th gen chips, so yeah will be some time.
My partner is continuing the work I mentioned in the recent BTS vid of testing 10+ different RAM configurations in the same laptop, that's about 2 weeks of work as a rough estimate.
The XMG Neo 15 with Ryzen 9 5900HX + RTX 3080 (150-165W max-p) arrived yesterday and she's getting started on that too. Once testing for that is done we'll be able to do 3080 laptop vs desktop, 3070 vs 3080 laptop to find out how much more the 3080 gives you, and 3080 vs 6800M.
That's just for this week! Following that I'm planning on doing more videos than usual for the rest of the month prior to things slowing down in December and there's still a lot I want to wrap up before the end of the year and CES in early January where we'll get to hear about new stuff and go through it all again :)
