"The Atomic Option" - Nuclear Detonation
Added 2025-05-18 21:04:43 +0000 UTCObtaining and inserting two nuclear keycards will give players the option to launch a nuclear missile from the Ashton Missile Silo missile to Camp McCarran.
After detonation, the map will be transformed into a "hardcore" mode, with extremely difficult enemies and bosses. Each player will be transformed into a ghoul version of themselves (this will be reflected in the arms raise during the nuke animation), and radiation will no longer effect players. Detonating the nuke will also result in the LVB monorail being destroyed, so players will no longer be able to continue the mains story questline.
Lore-wise, launching the missile at Camp McCarran is an old NCR "last resort" contingency plan for the possibly event of it being overtaken by the legion. (see the previous terminal post for more in-depth lore that can be accessed from the terminal)
