Genkun design sketches
Added 2015-09-13 13:16:34 +0000 UTCAn original species I've been working on for my secondary comic project, 'NanoTech Legends', the Genkun are a humanoid/reptillian species that arose after the apocalypse. Whether they're a product of the radioactive fallout or not, their massive stature (averaging 8-10 feet tall when adult) and long life-spans lead many to mistakenly believe them to be monsters.
In actual fact, the Genkun are as smart as any sentient species. Their eyes are better suited to seeing in dark or even pitch-black places, but they compensate for this with an exceptional sense of taste and an above-average sense of smell - as a result they have a great love for a wide assortment of cuisine. Many of the dishes they see as cultural delicacies amongst their own kind are revolting to others, but they maintain this is because others lack the necessary sense of taste to experience the full flavour.
Usually covered in scales, and with a generally uniform body-shape, Genkun can have a wide variety of natural 'adornments' - horns, dorsal scales, feathers and even hair. A very few are covered in thick fur-like hair like many mammals, and these rarely have much else in the way of adornments. On the rare occasions that the scaled Genkun have anything resembling facial hair, it tends to follow a line along the center of their face and neck.
