Added 2024-11-18 00:58:51 +0000 UTCThomas is actually from my past, not personally, but I remember watching a show about former gang members, now adults, with their own children, trying to keep youth out of gangs. And what stuck with me was one mentioning that when he was young... he never thought about the price. It was being tough, taking no shit, being respected... And now he had kids and thought about how very many of his friends were in graveyards or spending the rest of their days in prison--because that was the price of "taking no shit." And now, here they were, being the old guys, the guys who don't get that you "gotta be tough".
And hearing the memories of the words they spoke to the old guys when they were young and tough and knew that nothing could ever touch them...
