A fascinating history, a haunting place

I'm doing some long-planned essential travel in New England, and today shot a video about the Great Swamp Fight of King Philip's War very near to the location where the battle and subsequent massacre occurred – as voted on by my $50 patrons in a poll a while back. (thank you guys!) This is the monument to the fight, erected in 1906, a long forgotten crumbling ruin deep in the woods of Rhode Island. I shot there for four hours and didn't see a soul.

But that's a good thing – I wouldn't be up here unless I had to be. Traveling during COVID isn't just an enormous pain in the ass, it's also incredibly risky to yourself and others. In the case of a young and healthy guy like me, especially to others.

Filming went well, and I think it'll be a pretty cool video when it's all cut together.

Thanks, y'all, for your continued support! Hope you like this one.

Great video, thx! Intro reminded me of the topic of Shelley's poem Ozymandias. ;-)

Thanks man! It wasn't intentional, but I love those kinds of documentaries too. A favorite is "The Celts" from the BBC in the mid-80s.

Your King Phillip's War video is what first captured my attention to your channel. I absolutely adored your narration style therein. Whether intentional or not, it echoed (to me) the delightfully drab, analog, post-Vietnam era, In Search Of/Leonard Nimoy touch of the documentaries I grew up with in the late '70s and '80s. Keep up the stupendous work, on all your subjects, my young, padawan Masshole.
