What I've been working on this week
Added 2020-06-12 19:31:46 +0000 UTCI just took a week off from videos, partially to give myself some personal time, but also to catch up on work for The Sudbury Devil. My co-director and I finished the shot list this week, and we've been plugging away at breakdowns of the script for special effects, lighting and production design. We've also been talking to a semi-famous Wampanoag actor to appear in a cameo, and we can afford him largely due to viewer contributions to the budget over Paypal.
I've got an upcoming collab with Cynical Historian about the American influence on the French Revolution, which I started writing the other day. And sometime in July, I'm going to make an episode of Checkmate Lincolnites about Sherman's March.
Not sure when I'll actually get around to shooting this as it'll be pretty complex - but I've also been conceptualizing a video about early filmmaking, starting with the Lumiere brothers and Georges Melies - basically back when the art of film was the domain of magicians - and ending with the Germans and Soviets in the 20s who really solidified what a narrative film would become. To drive home the point about how film was a form of magic, the video would start in 2D, then turn 3D, then turn into a 360 degree image you could explore and interact with. I've never seen a YouTuber do anything like that, so I'm pretty excited for it.
