ya its kinda crazy what real world events they were able to comment on so clearly while so much control has been exercised over all coverage. superman like luffy would free all people from genocide

2025-10-31 22:16:45 +0000 UTCCentral Thesis of this film: KINDNESS IS PUNK ROCK. This was surprisingly comic accurate. There are so many Superman stories and characters over the past 86 years of media. This pulled from a variety of eras and stories, but mostly Silver Age. I love Clark Kent/Superman for the same reason I love Steve Rogers/Captain America. Someone THAT powerful NEEDS to be a paragon of goodness and virtue. And he does that in spite of feeling the same things we do, he was raised with a human heart, human sensibilities. Clark is the way he is because of his human parents. I'm happy they kept Pa Kent alive in this one. There have been a handful of stories where Jor-El sent Kal-El to Earth for nefarious reasons, instead of a benevolent reasons. From saving the squirrel, to not wanting to kill the kaiju, to his relationship with his parents, to his refusal to even say "hell" or "damn", I think this version of Clark Kent really NAILED the character imo. I personally love the Superman stories that highlight his status as an immigrant, his love for the Earth and humankind, and his inexhaustible reserves of compassion and care for anyone who needs it. Nathan Fillion killed it as Guy Gardner, the asshole Green Lantern. Even the haircut was canonical. Mr. Terrific was fuckin awesome. Lois Lane as a sharp, no-nonsense journalist was spot on. Even Jimmy Olsen being a babe-magnet was a canonical meme of the series. Lex Luthor being a 100 PERCENT UNADULTERATED PETTY JELLY BITCH ASS HATER was amazing. Totally on brand. Here's one of my favorite Superman comics of ALL TIME. It's only 8 pages long, but it speaks volumes about the character.
