To Turn Back Time 4

“Just give me a second then it will be safe to talk.”Isabella said as she ushered the entire Denali coven into Charlie’s house. Irina opened her mouth to say something but Isabella was already halfway up the stairs. Walking further into the house Irina looked in the kitchen. It was rundown and filthy. Taking a look in the fridge it was a quarter full and what was in it was nothing healthy. Irina couldn’t hold back the growl seeing the deplorable conditions her mate was living in. Deciding that staying in the kitchen would be a bad idea she made her way into the living only to find herself even more pissed. The furniture was old, dirty and worn. Taking a step on the carpet Irina’s shoes stuck to it. The only things that looked well taken care of was the television which was high end and very expensive and a recliner that was brand new. Irina was going to check out Isabella’s room before they left and if she didn’t like what she saw there would be changes in Isabella’s living situation.

“Alright we are good. If they try to get close to the house they will get blinding headaches.”Isabella told them taking a seat on the couch.

“How can you sit on something so filthy?”Irina asked.

Isabella looked at the couch.”I was born in a pen where a hundred other humans lived. I had to be taught how to use a chair. This couch is the highest standard of luxury to me.”

“You were born in a pen?”Emmet hadn’t really thought about how Isabella grew up but it would make sense it wouldn’t be in a nice house.

“Humans lived in pens until they were bought from the farmer who owned them.”Isabella told him.

“Were the humans separated any special way?”Eleazar was happy he finally got to ask Isabella some questions.

“We were separated based on smell. Once you reached the age to procreate you were taken from your parents and put in another pen where others we smelled similar to you lived. There you were forced to have sex with as many people as it took for the woman to get pregnant. Their thinking being if two humans smelled like that their offspring will smell just as good and that would make better tasting blood.”Isabella explained.

“They forced humans to have sex just so they would have children?”Rosalie was very happy that wasn’t their reality.

“Vampires needed to eat. They couldn’t do that if they ran out of humans and the conditions we were kept in really didn’t inspire much romance.”Isabella said.

“Is that what happened to your parents?”Carmen asked.

“My parents were fools. They stupidly chose each other and actually wanted children. Not out of any sense of love or maternal or paternal instincts they thought one of their children would start a rebellion and overthrow the vampires.”Isabella had no respect for her parents.”Can one of you grab me a Pepsi out of the fridge. I need some caffeine and sugar.”

“I’ll get it.”Irina volunteered. She hurried into the kitchen grabbed the soda, opened the can and handed it to her mate.”Why did they think they could start a rebellion with a child.”

“One of the humans in the pen my mother grew up in was a seer. She had a vision of me dressed in clothing sitting at a table eating food with a group vampires at the table with me. My parents chose to believe based on that vision that I was going to be the one to get humans rights because it was unheard of for a human to wear clothes let alone eat at a table with vampires. Like I said my parents were fools.”Isabella wished her mother had never talked to that seer.

“So the vision didn’t come true?”Kate was fascinated with hearing about Isabella’s upbringing. It was crazy that it could have been a realty.

“Oh no the vision came true.”Seeing the confused faces Isabella explained.”I wasn’t a leader of any rebellion. You see my shield was found out by one of the humans and they told one of the guards in return for extra food. The guard brought that information to a woman. A cruel woman who was obsessed with replacing her dead son.”

“You mean Sasha don’t you.”Tanya concluded.

Isabella nodded.”Sasha came and talked to my parents to find out their background. She wanted to know if any of their other children were gifted. Finding out that I was the only one out of the five they had who was she dismissed them and focused solely on me. She bought me from the farmer who owned me and took me to her estate. We traveled for hours and she didn’t say a word to me. I was terrified the entire time. When we got to the estate she brought me to the horse stables were she put me in shackles and left me there for over a week with no food or water.”

“Our mother did this to you?”Irina didn’t think Isabella was lying it was just hard to imagine her mother being so cruel.

“That woman was sadistic and you, Kate and Tanya weren’t spared either.”Isabella told her.

“She was cruel to us as well?”Kate wasn’t sure she believed that.

“She was turned before the war. The three of you after. Like me she bought the three of you. Kate you were bought because of your gift. Irina you and Tanya were bought for your beauty. That fact you all looked like her and each other fulfilled her requirements for the family she wanted was a bonus. She had already tried a few times by making immortal children but the law enforcers put a stop to it because it was a waste of human potential. If a child was turned it prevents the human from growing up and giving birth to more humans. So once she was told to stop she bought you three.”Isabella said.

“I can’t believe in the original timeline our mother still creates immortal children.”Tanya was going to have to a long hard look at her sire’s actions when got the chance.

“In every time line she creates a child. Usually more than one. I have even tried to prevent it. You three have confronted her about it. Nothing helps. The only thing any of us could do is keep ourselves safe. That’s why I turned her into the Volturi because if I didn’t Irina and Tanya would have been sold off and Kate would have been forced into the guard.”Isabella wasn’t ashamed of turning Sasha in. It was the only way for the sisters to stay alive.

“You turned her in?”Irina wasn’t sure how she felt about that.

“She had giving up on the child and knowing she was likely going to be killed for creating it planned to kill it and go to Italy. Once there she was going to offer Kate’s gift and your and Tanya’s beauty in exchange for her life. Kate would have been turned into one Aro’s pets and Tanya and you would have been given to Caius to be used as his personal whores.”Isabella didn’t want that to happen.

“What the fuck?!”Kate couldn’t believe what she was hearing.

“In every time line she betrays the three of you in some way. Her being your sire is the only way you three manage to stay together so I allowed it to happen.”Isabella had tried with other vampires but the sisters were happiest with Sasha.

“It’s like we really didn’t know her at all.”Tanya wondered if she really knew anything about her sire or was everything about Sasha fake.

“Thank you for saving us.”Irina knew without a doubt if Isabella didn’t interfere their lives would be nightmares.

Tanya hearing her cell phone chime with a text alert pulled out her phone. Reading it she chuckled. Seeing everyone looking at her she explained.”Carlisle just texted me demanding that I turn off the radio so that Edward can talk to Isabella.”

“What does he mean?”Rosalie didn’t hear a radio.

“I installed different speakers around the house that are currently blasting a sound that only vampires can hear that cause them blinding headaches. It reaches five miles out. My guess is the Cullens tried coming over and the sound stopped them.”Isabella said.

“How come we don’t hear it then?”Kate was going to see if Isabella would give her a copy of the sound so she could play it to annoy her family.

“I extended my shield around the house so no sound will come in and no sound will come out.”Isabella used her shield while she was home so the Cullens couldn’t spy on her.

“That means you can expand your physical shield?”Eleazar asked.

“Not only my physical one but my mental one as well. Meaning if I was standing in a room with 50 vampires with mental gifts I could make it so that none of them worked on anyone else in the room. It doesn’t matter the number just the space I can cover.”Isabella had put in a lot of work learning the extent of her gifts.

“That’s so rad.”Emmet could have a lot of fun if he was a shield.

“How did you figure out you were a time traveler?”Carmen wondered how Isabella found out.

“It was actually Kate’s fault.”Isabella told her.

“Me? What did I do?”Kate didn’t think she could have done anything to help Isabella travel through time.

“I didn’t always have full control of my shield. In the beginning it only really worked if I concentrated very hard or it just sometimes popped into place. It was during a torture session Kate was using her gift on me.”Isabella jumped up quickly and put her arms around Irina when she advanced on Kate.

“I’ll kill you.”Irina roared. She stilled her body not wanting to hurt her mate.

Kate hid behind Emmet.”I didn’t do anything.”

“Irina this Kate didn’t do anything and the Kate who did had no choice. The poor woman sobbed every time she used her gift on me.”Isabella maneuvered herself so she was facing Irina.”I am here right now in front of you perfectly fine. Save your anger for the fight you are going to have very soon with Edward.”

Irina leaned forward and kissed Isabella.”You are right. Kate would never do anything to truly harm you.”

“Exactly now back the story.”Isabella loosened her hold on Irina and faced the group.”Kate and I had an arrangement. As soon as Sasha left the room Kate would stop using her gift on me and I would still make the same noises as if she was still using it. During those down times Kate would talk to me. She would tell what going on in the world, about herself, gossip about her sisters. Sometimes she would just make up stories. It kept sane during that time. Anyway one day she told me that overheard a couple vampires taking about how exciting it would be to able to travel though time. Kate then went on to tell me all the things she would change if she could. It stuck in my head and all I could think about was traveling to the past and stopping the Romanians.”

“It sounds like you and that Kate were really close.”Kate hoped that Isabella and her would be just as close.

“In every time line you and I are close. The first one we bonded over our situations. The other ones our love of mischief and blowing things up.”Isabella told her.

“You and I are going to get along just fine.”Kate would never pass up the chance to destroy things.

“How did Kate’s story lead to you traveling through time?”Tanya was going to have to keep an eye on the pair and Emmet who wouldn’t let himself be left out of the fun.

“Irina had come to visit me four days later. She could only come when Sasha was away because we were keeping the mate bond from her. If Sasha found out about it she would have exploited it and used it against both of us. When Irina visited me she was extremely upset. Apparently Sasha was giving Tanya to some vampire lord in exchange for two human farms. Tanya of course didn’t want to go and Irina didn’t want to lose her sister. After she left I lay down on the cold dirt floor of my pen looking up at the night sky thinking about everything. I thought about how horrible my life was. How unfair it was that Kate was being exploited for her gift. That Tanya deserved better than to be sold off like a human. I was especially angry that I couldn’t openly be with Irina. The anger just kept building and then I started thinking about how different things could be if I could travel back in time and stop the Romanians from taking power. All of a sudden I found myself in the middle of a battlefield.”Isabella told them.

“What battle was it?”Carmen asked.

“It was the battle that I won with my flamethrower.”Isabella said.

“What did you do when you arrived?”Rosalie would have panicked if she was Isabella.

“I was extremely confused and very afraid. I mean there were hundreds of vampires fighting each other and here I am a defenseless human. Luckily no one paid attention to me so I was able to run away. I walked for hours until I stumbled upon a human village. It was a complete culture shock. Instead of humans in pens there was livestock instead. When I saw a human man dressed in nice clothing I nearly fainted. A woman approached me and started talking to me but I didn’t understand what she was saying because I only spoke Slavic as Slovakia was where the farm I was raised on was located and I never left the country. The woman was very patient and through some hand gestures and guessing she led me to her home where she fed me and gave me better clothing as I was wearing rags. She offered me a bed for the night. When I woke up the next morning I was back in my pen.”Isabella had felt very confused.

“Did you know what happened to you?”Eleazar was hanging on Isabella’s every word not wanting to miss any part of the story.

Isabella shook her head.”Initially I thought I dreamt it all but I was still wearing the clothing the woman gave me. Clothing that got me in a lot of trouble with Sasha. The way I figured it out has to do with Tanya.”

“Of course I would the one smart enough to figure out what your gift was.”Tanya was proud she helped Isabella.

“Tanya and I were as close as Kate and I were because both of us were Sasha’s most valuable possesions. She would visit me and bring books with her. She would read me all kind of stories. I have many fond memories of those time. One of times I had been wearing the clothing the woman gave me. Tanya asked me why I was wearing clothing from the time of the rebellion. I asked what she meant and she told me that was the type of clothing they showed in the history books of when the Romanians defeated the rebels. I then confided in her what happened. We discussed different possibilities and Tanya was the one to say that I had a gift to travel through time. Once she said it it was like something clicked in my brain. I closed my eyes and thought about the battle again and when I opened them I was there.”Isabella had been elated that she had the gift.

“I wish you had the history books from your timeline.”Rosalie would love to know how the Romanians documented their rule.

“I do have those books and many other books from that timeline.”Isabella told her.

“Wait you have books from different timelines.”Emmet hadn’t expected that.

“For some reason the things I secure in my bunker never disappear.”Isabella didn’t know why that was but she was grateful.

“You have a bunker?”When Isabella nodded Kate got even more excited.”What’s in it?”

“It’s my base of operations where I keep everything I need to travel. Things like period clothing, currency from different years and countries, all the things I’ve collected on my trips. It has a work shop and a lab that I do my experiments in and build my many gadgets and weapons. It also has living quarters. Basically everything I need to survive.”Isabella was confused by the looks she was receiving.”What?”

“You live in a bunker?”Irina couldn’t understand why her mate hadn’t bought herself a house.

“It’s perfect for my needs. I will continue using it for storage after I move in with you guys.”Isabella wouldn’t be able to fit half her stuff in the Denali’s house.

“We can build to add more space for you to put your things.”Tanya was very interested in what Isabella collected during her travels.

“It’s not important right now.”Isabella had bigger things to worry about than moving her stuff.

“Yeah we have to deal with the newborns and the Cullens.”Emmet was planning on asking Isabella if she would take him to her bunker after she got settled in Alaska.

“I’ll text Carlisle and ask him what time training is.”Tanya typed out the message on her phone.

“Training is going to be so fun because we all know Edward is going to start a fight.”Kate was looking forward to beating on the asshat.

“Did you plan all that at the Cullens?”Rosalie asked.

Isabella shook her head.”No I just saw an opportunity and took it.”

“It was brilliant.”Irina couldn’t have planned it better.

“It won’t ruin your plan for Edward to go to Italy thinking you’re dead will it?”Emmet wanted Edward to be Aro’s pet.

“No he will just think I am acting out like the irrational woman I am. So as long as my mate bond with Irina isn’t revealed he will still go to Italy after I fake my death.”Isabella knew that Edward would run off to kill himself if she died as long as Isabella’s bond with Irina wasn’t exposed.

“Is how you acted at their house how you always at around them?”Carmen couldn’t imagine the family reacting well to it.

“I don’t hold back with them. They are so in love with Edward and the idea of what I role they want me to fill in each of their lives they just brush off everything I say to them. They all are of the false belief that after I’m changed I’ll fall in line. Then Esme will have her perfect daughter, Carlisle will have a powerful shield for his coven, Edward an obedient wife that he will be able to physical abuse without killing her, Alice the sister she always wanted and Jasper wants me to be a part of the coven to make Alice happy.”Isabella told her.

“That just shows how out of touch they are. Venom doesn’t change a person that drastically.”Tanya was unsurprised that the Cullens would believe such a thing.

“It also shows how much they love Edward if they are ignoring the fact that mates not only can’t hurt their mates but they can’t lie to them either. Edward has hurt me before and threatens me all the time. Then there is the fact he lies every time he opens his mouth.”Isabella would have to have been an idiot to believe they were mated.

“He hurt you?!!”Irina was going cause the boy a lot of pain the next time she saw him.

“Not that badly. I just had to let the injury happen so not to cause suspicion. If I didn’t he wouldn’t be able to touch me.”Isabella was completely protected from vampires.

“You mentioned that a vampire tried to change you. What exactly happened?”Eleazar asked.

“It was during my original timeline. Sasha had tried the first time she visited me after she left me shackled to the wall for that week. She bit my wrist and then left me after mentioning that I had some of the best blood she had ever tasted and it was a shame I had a gift because she would have liked to kept me alive longer to enjoy it. After she left nothing happened. I didn’t feel any different. When she came back three days later and saw that I was sill human she tried again. She finally gave up after the fifth time. That’s also when the experiments and torture started.”Isabella told him.

“I really am starting to hate our mother.”Kate wasn’t finding any redeeming qualities from any of the versions of Sasha Isabella met. Not even Kate’s own who was planning on trading her and her sisters so she could live.

“She was cruel when she was human and it was her fault her son died.”Isabella said.

“What do you mean she was the reason her son died?”Irina had been told the boy died from sickness.

“I went back thinking if I could save her son she wouldn’t be so cruel. I was wrong. She was always cruel. She had three children. Two boys and a girl. The girl she sold to a brothel and the son ran away never to be seen again. I saved the daughter and bought her a large estate and gave her a bunch of gold and silver plus a small fortune in the currency they used at the time. She eventually met a nice man and they had children and the family thrived.”Isabella was cut off by Tanya.

“Wait did that estate come with a title?”Tanya asked.

“It did and that title was passed on to your father who used it as a bargaining chip to arrange for you to marry your husband.”Isabella smiled at the look of shock Tanya was giving her.

“What would have happened to me if Sasha’s daughter wasn’t saved?”Tanya now knew that Isabella had interfered in her life a lot more than she had initially thought.

“A life of poverty were you would have been sold to a man who was old enough to be your grandfather. Sasha would have left you in that marriage for years just so she could take the pleasure of watching one of her daughter’s descendants suffer. She gave one of the maids contraception herbs so you wouldn’t get pregnant. She finally stepped in because the man planned on killing you to find a different wife because you hadn’t given him a child.”Isabella hated that she had to be the one to tell Tanya this but she wouldn’t lie.

“Why did she even bother changing me?”Knowing more about her sire Tanya could easily see Sasha doing that to her.

“She did truly want to be a mother. You being her descendant and looking like her is the reason she chose you. Plus your extreme good looks. She thought she could use you if she needed to bargain with someone.”Isabella said.

“Fuck.”Kate wasn’t sure she wanted to hear anymore. It was all so devastating.

“So how was she responsible for her son’s death?”Irina asked.

“After the son and daughter got away she had another child with a man who was not her husband. When her husband found out he left her. Sasha resented the child and blamed it for ruining her marriage. Three days after she gave birth she smoldered it with a rolled up blanket and claimed it was sick. At the time everyone believed her.”Isabella explained.

“You didn’t stop it from happening?”Rosalie was surprised that Isabella didn’t save the baby.

“Some things have to happen. No matter how horrible or cruel they are.”Isabella couldn’t save everyone.

“I don’t get it if she murdered the boy why she would want to create an immortal child to replace it.”Emmet would have thought Sasha wouldn’t want anything to do with children.

“In this timeline she wanted a child because Irina, Tanya and Kate didn’t turn out to be the obedient slaves she expected they would be when she turned them. She had the false belief that the sire bond was a real thing. In her stupidity she creates the child thinking it will be easier to control. She named it after her dead son because she felt like it would finally be a way to erase all the harm the boy did to her life.”Isabella said.

“That’s so fucked up.”Kate couldn’t think of a better way to describe the situation.

Tanya’s text notification sounded stopping any replies.”Carlisle is threatening to call Charlie and have us arrested for kidnapping if we don’t turn off the radio and let Edward and the rest of the Cullens talk to Isabella before it is time to meet up with the wolves.”

“Did he say what time training is?”Irina wasn’t going to let Isabella turn off the radio.

“Yeah in two hours.”Tanya typed back confirming they would be at training and ignoring Carlisle’s request to see Isabella.

“So we have got two hours. What do you want to do?”Emmet asked.

“I believe I owe Tanya something first.”Isabella made her way back upstairs with Irina following her this time.

Irina walked into Isabella’s room appalled by what she saw. The room was trashed. The furniture was broken, there were fist size holes in the walls, the door to the closet was broken in half and there was a pile of shredded clothes on the floor.”What the hell happened in here?”

“Edward likes to get violent when he’s upset. Usually one of his siblings protects me and that pisses him off more so he destroys my stuff. Other times he just breaks in when I’m not here and destroys things.”Isabella made her way to the corner of the room where a chest was sitting.”Can you carry this. It’s kind of heavy and awkward.”

“Of course I will.”Irina was pleased that Isabella was asking her for help. Taking the chest she followed Isabella out of the room.”How often are you alone with Edward?”

“Never. I know he would try and kill me if I was. Not that he could but he would try and then discover my shield and that would cause more problems because he wouldn’t believe I could die if I had my shield protecting me.”Isabella also was never alone with him so he couldn’t try kissing her or touching her intimately.

“Good let’s keep it that way.”After seeing Isabella’s room Irina had no doubt Edward would try and hurt her mate.

“You can set the chest on the coffee table.”Isabella told Irina when they returned to the living room.

“I thought I was just getting a hat?”Tanya said.

“I fudged the truth because it would seem suspicious if I told you what I was really offering.”Isabella opened the chest revealing a wooden shelf filled with folders and books. She lifted up the shelf and set it next to the trunk uncovering a hat box and some clothing underneath it.”So originally I was just going to steal the hat but I got to thinking just having the hat is kind of lame so I stole the rest of the outfit as well. Including his shoes, socks and all jewelry he was wearing including his pocket watch.”

“Isabella this is too much.”Tanya couldn’t accept all this.

“If you don’t want it it will just go in my bunker because I’m not returning it.”Isabella wasn’t going waste the time doing it.

“I guess it’s ok to keep then.”Tanya would get enjoyment out of it. Where as if it was in Isabella’s bunker no one would see it.

“What’s all this stuff?”Kate asked holding up one of the books.

“That book specifically is the diary Abe Lincoln kept when he started his career as a lawyer. There are a few other diaries from different times in his life and a couple of Mary Todd’s as well. As for the paperwork those are official documents I thought you would like and some copies of speeches he made.”Isabella told her.

Tanya stared at the items in shock. She couldn’t believe that she was now the owner of such important pieces of history.”Shouldn’t these be in a museum?”

“Who better than an immortal vampire to be entrusted with taking care of such important pieces of American history.”Isabella wasn’t a fan of museums because the items didn’t get the exposure they should by being stuck in one building.

“She has a point there Tanya.”Emmet thought Tanya was the perfect person to take care of all the stuff.

“I do suspect that the theft will be a footnote in history now.”Isabella was sure that it had been documented somewhere that the items had been stolen.

“I didn’t even think of that. Every time you steal something there is probably a police investigation.”Kate was going to look online later to see if there was any mention about Isabella stealing Abe’s stuff.

“I sole from the White House. That means it’s the secret service not the police.”Isabella corrected.

“What’s the most secure place you have ever broken into?”Emmet asked.

“The gold vault at Fort Knox.”Isabella told him.

“Are you serious?”Isabella was turning out to be a lot cooler than Kate originally thought.

“Yes they don’t regularly count the gold so it’s easy to pop in and steal some.”Isabella used it to fund her lifestyle.

“How do they not catch you on their surveillance equipment?”Rosalie would expect that Isabella would have been seen by someone.

“I would show you but then I would have to take my shield down from around the house but with my physical shield I can become invisible to the outside world. That’s how I get away with doing so much without anyone finding out it’s me.”Isabella explained.

“Can you make other people invisible as well?”Emmet really hoped so because he was already making plans if Isabella could.

“I could make the entire house invisible to anyone passing by. Making others invisible is easy.”Isabella said.

“Shit.”Kate like Emmet was already making plans for Isabella to make her invisible.

Tanya didn’t like the looks on both Kate and Emmet’s faces and knew she would have to speak to Isabella later about what was allowed and what wasn’t. She didn’t want to have to deal with the three of them getting into trouble. Looking at her watch she sighed.”I really wanted a chance to go through all this but we need to leave to make it in time for training. Isabella do you have a place to put it so it won’t get touched?”

“Yeah you can put it in my room because we will be with the Cullens so they won’t have a chance to sneak in.”Isabella told her.

“I’ll put it up there.”Irina volunteered.

Tanya put everything back in the chest and reluctantly shut the lid.”I’m going to be very happy when this is all over and I can look through everything and finish reading the newspaper you got me.”

“Five days until we kill the newborns and then three days after that I’m faking my death. After that I am free to finally be with my family.”Isabella was counting down the seconds until that finally happened.

“Where do you want me to put this in your room?”Irina was counting down the seconds as well.

“I’l show you. I have to turn off the stereo anyway.”Isabella led Irina up the stairs to her room. She made her way over to her stereo and turned it off.”Just put it where it was before.”

Irina set down the chest and looked around the room again.”I really don’t like you staying in these conditions.”

“Well now that the Cullens won’t come back here maybe we can fix up my room. Charlie is a lazy slob but I would feel bad leaving the room destroyed after he agreed to take me in.”Isabella was going to do it before she faked her death.

“I will definitely help you with that.”It might not be the whole house but Irina would accept Isabella’s bedroom being fixed up. The only reason she wasn’t insisting on the rest of the house was because Isabella wasn’t going to be there that long.

“Come on let’s get going. I want to introduce you to my friend Leah.”Isabella grabbed Irina’s hand and pulled her after her.

“Is this a wolf friend?”Irina asked.

“Yes it’s a long story that I will tell you all about later. We don’t have enough time now for me to tell you everything.”Isabella had a feeling the rest of the family would be interested as well.

“How are you going to explain the sound you played to keep the Cullens away?”Tanya asked.

“I was hoping that you guys would take credit for it. It would seem less suspicious if you knew what it was than me being the one.”Isabella figured less questions would be asked if Tanya claimed responsibility for it.

“How did you find it?”Eleazar was curious how Isabella got her hands on a weapon to use on vampires.

“I invented myself. The less said on how the better for everyone.”Isabella said cryptically.

“Alright everyone let’s get going.”Tanya would be asking Isabella later what she meant by that but as it seemed Isabella wasn’t comfortable talking about it Tanya would refrain for the time being. Making her way outside Tanya got into the driver seat of the van. She was somewhat excited to have a chance to beat on Edward.
