“Carlisle I don’t want the Denali around Bella.”Edward told Carlisle. Isabella held back an eye roll knowing this was going to start another fight between the Cullens. Edward was adamant that the coven didn’t need any help even from the wolves. Surprisingly everyone else actually stood up to him and voted to contact the Denali. Isabella thought at least Alice would side with him but she along with the other three voted to ask the Denali to help. Isabella of course had helped them come to those decisions by making comments about being afraid for the coven’s lives and worrying about how they could keep her safe against the two dozen newborns Alice had seen. That and she told them about nightmares she had of Victoria capturing her. The real tears she shed when she recounted the torture seemed to be what convinced Esme, Alice and Carlisle. Jasper voted yes because he wanted the extra help.

“Edward we have been over this. We can not defeat the army and Victoria with only ourselves and the 8 wolves that have shifted. Two of them who are only 13 yrs old.”Carlisle wasn’t going to even let those two be involved in the fight.

“Edward I showed you the vision of the army defeating us and taking over the town. All that death and destruction will happen if the Denali don’t help us.”Alice had sobbed when she had seen the vision of the army getting out of control.

“Your visions are subjective. That isn’t going to happen.”Edward didn’t believe for a second that they would lose against the newborns.

“I’m not willing to risk it.”Jasper knew that Alice’s vision would come true if they didn’t get the Denali’s help.”The only way we are winning this is if either the Denali help or the Volturi do.”

“We can’t contact the Volturi. They would find out about Bella.”Edward didn’t want the kings to know his mate was human.

“Then we are getting help from the Denali.”Esme didn’t want anything to happen to her fragile human daughter and without help from the Denali Bella would be in grave danger.

“Why do you hate the Denali so much?”Isabella asked.

“The sisters are immoral harlots who twisted Rosalie’s mind into their way of thinking.”Edward hated all four of the sisters. Especially Tanya and Rosalie. Both of which he tried to enter a relationship with but was denied.

“How are they immoral harlots?”Isabella knew what Edward’s real problem was but was interested in how he was going to justify his hatred.

“They bed humans and drain them of their blood killing them. Something the older three sisters encourage Rosalie to do.”Edward lied.

“The Denali don’t bed, drain and kill humans. Rosalie hasn’t even tasted human blood before. You are just mad because they rejected your advances.”Jasper wouldn’t put up with Edward bath mouthing their cousins. The family had helped them out a lot over the years and didn’t deserve Edward’s disrespect.

“You made advances at them? I thought you were waiting for your mate?”Isabella tried not to laugh at the look of rage on Edward’s face.

“That’s not true at all. They made advances at me.”Edward once again lied.

“Edward I know when you’re lying. Right now being one of those times.”Isabella called him out.

Edward growled at Isabella.”I am not lying.”

“I think you need to back away from me right now.”Isabella made sure to look genuinely afraid of Edward.

Esme seeing this immediately grabbed Edward by the arm, pulled him from his seat on the couch next to Bella and held him against a wall.”You do not growl at Bella.”

“Let go of me.”Edward wasn’t going to be forced away from his mate.

“You have a lot of anger and aggression coming off you right now so it would be best if you stayed away from Bella until you calm down.”Jasper told him.

“That just proves I was right. You always get like this when I catch you in a lie.”Isabella said.

“I am not lying.”Edward couldn’t believe his mate would call him a liar. Even if he was.

“Stay away from me until you can control yourself.”Isabella would take any opportunity to keep Edward away from her. Before Edward could start arguing again the sound of a vehicle was heard pulling up to the house.

“That would be the Denali.”Carlisle said as he and the family made their way outside to meet the Denali.

“Bella stay close to me the entire time they are here and don’t be alone with any of them.”Edward wasn’t going to let them sink their claws into Bella.

“Edward even though you wish you did you do not control my life. How I spend my time and who with is up to me not you.”Isabella held up her hands when Edward started growling again. When he made a move to advance on her she called out.”Jasper.”

Jasper immediately raced back into the house grabbed Edward by the throat and slammed him to the floor.”What did I tell you about staying away from Bella until you cooled off?”

“What I do to my mate does not concern you.”Edward growled out.

“Edward go hunt and when you come back apologize to Bella.”Esme wasn’t going to put up with Edward being aggressive towards the human.

Jasper send waves of calm to Edward waiting until he went slack in his hold before letting him up.”Stay gone for a while.”

“I’m not going to leave Bella alone while those succubi are here.”Edward said once he jumped up for the ground.

“You mean the succubi that you made passes at and got rejected.”Isabella goaded.

“You watch your mouth!”Edward made another move to get to Isabella but Jasper grabbed his arm and forced him out the door.

“I’ll keep him away.”Jasper promised.

“Well that was exciting.”Kate said as she followed by the rest of the Denali filed into the living room where Isabella had retaken her seat on the couch. Kate took the seat right next to Isabella.”Now who would you be little human?”

“I’m Isabella Swan.”Isabella was interested in seeing how the Denali were going to handle the situation.

“Hello Isabella, I’m Tanya, this is Irina, Rosalie, her mate Emmett, Carmen, her mate Eleazar and that’s Kate.”Tanya pointed to each person she introduced.

“Actually Eleazar I’m happy you are here. Bella has the ability to block Edward, Jasper and Alice’s gifts. We expect that is because she herself has a gift. Can you detect one?”Carlisle asked.

Eleazar shot a look at Bella catching a nod.”She is some type of shield. Though I can’t get a read on it. I think it’s blocking my gift from working.”

“A shield of course. We should have thought of that.”Alice couldn’t believe that she didn’t realize that Bella was a shield.

Irina took a seat on the armchair across the couch where Isabella was sitting. She leaned forward and held back a smirk when Isabella’s eyes went right to her cleavage.”So Isabella how did a human get involved with the Cullens?”

“I uh.”Isabella glared at Kate when she heard her laugh. Shaking her head she focused on Irina’s face forcing her eyes not to wonder.”My parents died a few months ago and I was placed with my last living relative Charlie. He was nice enough to let me stay with him to go to high school where I met the Cullens even though he wasn’t aware that my mother was related to him.”

“I’m sorry to hear about your parents.”Tanya thought that was a great cover story to being in Forks and going to high school. She did wonder how Isabella worked out the legal paperwork to get it done though. Then again she was born in the 1700’s she likely had made a lot of contacts over the years.

“It’s alright. They died doing what they loved so it makes their death’s more inspiring than depressing.”Isabella told her.

“Not to be insensitive but how exactly did they die?”Rosalie was very interested in what kind of death Isabella made up that would be inspiring.

“My parents, myself and other members of our collective were free climbing a rock wall. My father got stuck on a rock and my mother went to help him. When she got there somehow the rock he was holding broke off and he fell. She tried to save him but she fell as well. Their last moments were them falling through the air holding hands on their way to their next adventure together.”Isabella said.

“That is kind of beautiful.”Kate could see how that would be inspiring.

“You said you were part of a collective. What do you mean my that?”Emmet asked.

“My parents and I were a part of nudist collective.”Isabella had to hold back a smile when Kate and Emmet started laughing. Irina and Tanya looked shocked and Rosalie was trying not to smile.

“You were a nudist?”Kate wondered if Isabella had actually been a part of the community or was just making it up.

Isabella nodded.”There is something freeing about not having to worry about what you are going wear everyday. Plus it was nice to be able to admire other bodies without judgement.”

“How long did you live at this nudist collective?”Irina did not like the idea of her mate living with a bunch of naked people while she was naked as well.

“It was all I knew until I was a teenager and someone wearing clothing visited us.”Isabella was telling the truth. Humans weren’t given clothing when she was born. She didn’t know about clothes until a vampire had come to talk to her parents.

Irina’s anger deflated when she realized that Isabella was taking about her own childhood.”I’m sure it was a very interesting situation you grew up in and I would love to talk to you sometime about it.”

“I would like that. Why I bet a name or two might be familiar to you.”Isabella was going to tell Irina about her original time line when they got the chance. It was after all a part of their love story.

“Why would you say that?”Alice asked in confusion.

“Because you said three of the Denali are Slavic. In my collective we had a few people who were from Slovakia so they might recognize the names.”Isabella explained.

“How many people from Slovakia were there?”Tanya was now like Irina realizing Isabella was talking about her earlier human years when humans were enslaved.

“Initially there was one but then she came back with three other women.”Isabella told her.

“I see.”Tanya hated that she couldn’t ask Isabella more questions about that because if Tanya was right Isabella had met her, Irina, Kate and Sasha in her original time line.

“How did they treat you?”Kate like her sisters knew that Isabella was talking about them in her original time line.

Isabella winced thinking about her time with her mate, her mother and her sisters.”They were polite.”

“So what is it you do for fun Isabella?”Rosalie asked taking the topic away from a painful part of Isabella’s life. At least based on the faces Isabella was making talking about it Rosalie thought it was painful.

“I am really into motorcycles and like to race dirt bikes with my friends on the reservation.”Isabella told her.

“I told you you weren’t allowed to do that.”Esme had forbidden Bella from riding any two wheel motor vehicles. Going so far as stealing Bella’s personal motorcycle and hiding it in their garage. The girl could have it back after she was changed.

“And I told you you are not my mother. You don’t get to tell me what to do.”Isabella may have needed the Cullens but it didn’t mean she had roll over and let them walk all over her.

“Don’t you speak to me like that young lady!”Esme wasn’t going to allow Bella to talk back to her.

“If you all keep treating me like this I may just ask to join the Denali and leave you all behind.”Isabella threatened.

“We would be happy to have you Isabella.”Irina would love nothing more than to claim Isabella.

“Bella you are just saying that because you are upset Edward is mad at you.”Alice wasn’t worried about Bella joining the Denali. She wouldn’t leave Edward.

“I think that you will find out of the two of us it is Edward who is upset. I have no reason to be upset as I was able to prove he was a liar. His tantrum is of his own making.”Isabella wasn’t upset at all with how things went. It gave her a break from Edward.

Kate was highly amused with the way Isabella treated the Cullens. It seemed that she wasn’t even trying that hard to like them. Kate could feel hatred coming off of the human in waves as Isabella wasn’t hiding it.”So you and Edward fight a lot?”

“We fight constantly because Edward is an idiot who lies about everything. One time I dreamt of being strong enough that I tore his limbs off and lit his torso on fire with his head still attached. After waking up from that dream I cried because it wasn’t real. If the Cullens weren’t so sure we were mates I would have done something drastic to him a long time ago.”Isabella was being truthful. She would killed Edward a long time ago if she didn’t need him.

“Bella! You don’t mean that!”Carlisle was outraged that Bella would say such a thing about her mate.

“Oh I mean it. As a matter of fact do any of you know how to break the mate bond?”Isabella asked the amused looking Denali.

“I told you there is no way to break the bond.”Carlisle cut in before the other coven could answer.

“That isn’t true and you know it Carlisle.”Tanya was unsurprised that Carlisle would lie to Isabella about it. Edward was his favorite possession he wouldn’t want to make the boy upset.

“What is she talking about Carlisle?”Isabella really wanted to smirk seeing how uncomfortable Carlisle looked.

“She is talking about nothing as there is no way to break the bond.”Carlisle wasn’t going to let the Denali tell Bella the truth.

Isabella turned her attention to Tanya.”What are you talking about?”

“There is a member of the Volturi guard that can influence bonds. Meaning she would be able to break your mate bond.”Tanya smiled as Isabella’s face clouded with anger. She was sure that Isabella was up to something and had manipulated the conversation for some reason. A reason Tanya was sure she was going to enjoy.

Isabella jumped up from the couch and pointed her finger at Carlisle.”All this fucking time you all have known how miserable I am with Edward and there was a way to help me and no one told me.”

“Now Bella just calm down.”Esme was not pleased that the Denali gave Bella that information.

“I will not calm down!”Isabella yelled.”I have been suffering ever since Edward said hello to me the first time and forced me into a life I don’t want. To include all of you trying to take over my life. Now I find out that you kept from me the way to get away from you. What the fuck else are you hiding? Am I even Edward’s mate?”

“Of course you’re Edward’s mate. He loves you and the reason you are feeling like this is because you’re human. Once you are changed everything will be different.”Alice assured her.

“How can I trust the word of someone who is willing to sacrifice my happiness for someone else’s?”Isabella held up a hand to silence Alice.”Don’t try to deny it. You aren’t as stealthy as you think you are. I know about you helping Edward isolate me from the humans and breaking into my house sometimes while I’m not there and other times when I’m sleeping.”

“What the fuck is wrong with you guys?”Kate asked not being able to stop herself.

“Everything we have done is for your safety Bella.”Carlisle told her.

“That’s the thing Carlisle I don’t feel safe around any of you. It’s why I spend so much time at reservation so I’m not forced to be around you guys.”Isabella also went because she was friends with their alpha Leah who Isabella altered history to make female shifters treated a lot better.

“We would never hurt you.”Esme couldn’t believe that Bella didn’t feel safe with them.

“The safest I have ever felt in this house was when the Denali walked through the door.”Isabella told her.”And because of that I don’t think I will be returning any time soon.”

“What Bella no!!”Alice was annoyed her gift didn’t work on Bella because she could have prevented this situation from happening.

“Tanya I know we don’t know each other but is there anything I can offer you in return for a couple members of your coven coming to my house and acting like security. Once Edward finds out about this fight he is going to be pissed and he will get violent and that means my belongings will get destroyed. I normally don’t care but I just got an authentic replica of the hat Abe Lincoln wore when he gave the Gettysburg Address and don’t want it to get ruined.”It was actually the real hat that Isabella had stole from the White House. It seemed like a good payment for Tanya’s help.

“Of course. Myself and whoever else wants to will come with you.”Tanya would have said yes anyway but wasn’t going to turn down the hat Abe wore during such a famous speech. It made the coven look forward to payments for favors and gifts in the future from Isabella.

“Before I go.”Isabella turned to a grief stricken looking Esme.”I want my motorcycle back. The security cameras you guys didn’t know I installed caught you stealing it.”

“You can’t ride a motorcycle.”Esme wasn’t worried about Bella coming back. They just needed Edward to talk to her.

“You know what would be really cool Kate?”Isabella asked Kate.

Kate perked up at the question.”What would that be Isabella?”

“If someone had a fire grenade that you could use against the newborns.”Isabella told her.

Kate immediately understood.”Esme where is the bike?”

“Yeah where is the bike Esme.”Emmet wanted a grenade as well.

“I’m not allowing Bella to ride a motorcycle.”Esme wasn’t giving up the bike.

Bella reached into her pocket and pulled out a slip of paper.”It’s in the garage covered by a sheet with boxes piled on top of it.”

“Got it.”Kate said taking off towards the garage with Emmet right behind her.

“Do you need to collect any of your belongings from the house before we leave Bella?”Irina was very pleased with this situation. They hadn’t talked to Isabella about what would happen when they got to the Cullen’s house but Irina was pleased with what did. Isabella gave the coven a way to be around her all the time without it being suspicious.

“Anything I have here they picked out themselves and is not anything I want to keep.”Isabella was looking forward to not having to be forced to go on shopping trips with Alice and Esme anymore.

“Alright then let’s get you home.”Tanya looked at the remaining members of her coven.”Who’s coming with us?”

“Myself and Emmet are coming.”Rosalie not only hated the Cullens she wanted to spend time with Isabella. Emmet did to.

“We will come as well.”Eleazar didn’t want to miss out on any of Isabella’s stories of her travels.

“Kate and I are going.”Irina would go where ever her mate went.

“I guess we are all going.”Tanya was in no way surprised by that. Turning her attention to Carlisle she spoke.”My coven is officially taking responsibility for Isabella’s safety. She has made it clear that she does not feel safe around you. That being the case stay away from her or we will use force to keep you away.”

“You can not keep my family away from Edward’s mate!”Carlisle wasn’t going to be told what to do by Tanya.

“Edward is the one I fear the most.”Isabella wasn’t really afraid of Edward because with her shield he couldn’t hurt her. He just annoyed her and she didn’t want to be around him.

“He would never hurt his mate.”Alice knew Edward would die before he hurt Bella.

“Then why did Jasper have to physically drag him away from the house when he advanced on me because I called him a liar.”Isabella knew Edward would have tried to kill her a long time ago if she was ever alone with him. Something she made sure never happened.

“He wouldn’t have touched you.”Esme said.

“We won’t ever find out because I don’t want him near me ever again.”Isabella told her.

“I mean it Carlisle stay away from the girl. She has made it clear she doesn’t want any of you around.”Tanya was looking forward to the fights with the Cullens in the future because there was no way they were leaving Isabella alone. That meant they would get to beat on the Cullens.

“You aren’t in charge of my coven.”Carlisle didn’t take orders from anyone.

“Are you ready Bella?”Tanya asked the human.

“All set.”Isabella was excited to get away from the Cullens.

“We will have Kate drive your motorcycle home. Everyone else get in the van.”Tanya said as she led Isabella and the rest of the Denali out of the house. She ignored the random shouts from Carlisle, Esme and Alice all various threats and pleas to return. Tanya was happy that they would get a chance to talk to Isabella. The coven leader had been trying to figure out a way to get the human alone the entire trip to Forks. Tanya was going to ask Isabella if everything that just happened had been planned. It would be impressive if it wasn’t. Either way the outcome was good. Isabella was away from Edward and his family and the Denali had an excuse to be around Isabella without it looking suspicious. The best part of the whole meeting to Tanya was the Abe Lincoln hat that she was soon going to be the owner of. She wonder if it came in it’s own hat box. If not how would she protect it to get it home? It didn’t matter if she had to hold it on her lap the entire ride she would do it to keep it safe. It was the second in what Tanya hoped was many pieces of history Isabella had given her. She didn’t want Isabella to think she was careless with her gifts because she might not give her anything else. That Tanya definitely wanted to prevent from happening.
