E258 - Populaire Frontin' 2: Melon Pilled w/ Henry Wallis

Our France correspondent Henry J. Wallis returns to give updates since the New Popular Front's surprise victory on July 7. Will Macron block them from power after the Olympics? Will the French return from vacation in fighting mode? And how does Kamala's emergence compare to the antifascist electoral block?

This guy is one of your best guests, insightful, optimistic and involved. Even if I don’t agree with all of his points it’s refreshing

love when y’all interview people we might not necessarily agree with, but I do wish he would let andy finish a question lol

The labor movement teaching other groups in struggle and organizing is basically the turn the RosaLux Foundation has taken with Organizing for Power. I hope that it is an effort that bears fruit.

There's something here, but regardless of Frances Unbowed's radicalism and theory, it does just feel like a new electoral coaliton...with so much hingeing on the likes of the french socialist party. I found his responses to Andy's question re direct action evasive, although I enjoyed him a great deal and it was generally a pretty robust insight. Id also push back on the idea of strategy being one and the same as theory. Though, it is innovative in some respects and is exactly how we should be thinking. It feels like it has parallels to MAS, rather than any contemporary western political formation.

Merci Henry for this excellent breakdown of the situation in France for a foreign audience!

Some pretty fantastical thinking going on here about the NFP… it’s an electoral alliance of the centre and the centre-left. They can talk about ‘rupture’ all they like, it’s got nothing to do with working class self organisation or communism.

let’s goooo!!!!!!
