Human Composers Battle Against AI

This video is unlike anything I've done before! I get these ideas for things and then don't realize how hard they'll be to actually produce... I really hope you find it entertaining and educational though. It was a ton of work - not just for myself, but for the participants as well, so if you like anything that you see, make sure to visit their links in the video description :)

Tomorrow night (Wednesday the 24th) at 8PM CT I'll be doing a livestream and discussing exactly how I built BATTLE CATTLE from the ground up. I think it'll serve as a great production tutorial, since it's a short track, we can literally go over every mixing and arrangement decision I made. Shortly after, I'll be collecting questions for another Q+A livestream scheduled for the following week on the 29th.

And here's a promise you can hold me to - my next video will be fun, effective, practical, and won't take a full month to produce! I already know what it's going to be (a guitar lesson!) but I'm pretty sure that with a bit of extra work I can ensure that it's just as helpful for you keyboard players out there. It should be reminiscient of early era signals content, but hopefully with a bit better quality.

This video has a LOT of audio associated with it too. If you want any tracks, let me know here in the comments and I'll upload them along with the post. The only one I'm adding now is my version of Battle Cattle, because I just love it :P

See you tomorrow!

Human Composers Battle Against AI

Comments

I foresee some of the worst outcomes from AI as well, but I do nurse a hope that there will be a backlash to it that results in more people picking up instruments, more people deliberately choosing music made by humans, and more emphasis on good performance, whether live or in the studio, and that we'll ironically end up with some really great, very much real music

Ill touch on some of these thoughts at the beginning of my livestream tomorrow!

That was soo cool. And honestly, I want to watch the Battle Cattle show!! I think the AI should have been disqualified for building harmony under the acapella vocal. In his work, it sounds like Neil (sp?) manually cut up the track for timing, which AI might not have been able to do. However, I agree that AI will become a tool to use. It might disrupt the music-selling industry. Streaming services may have 80% streamed music because it's cheaper for them. But humans making music alone or in groups will always happen because it's fun and social. And this will always find an audience.
